Since when does Yea Forums hate Dead Cells? Yea Forums never talks about it, so I always assumed there wasn't enough hate for it to matter.

Yea Forums only talked about it when it started in early access, and all I heard was possitive. This game is probably one of the most universally liked games in recent times on here.

>new content update hits
>literally nobody in existence talks about it
There was one thread but it was just people saying they thought the game was boring

Yea Forums is a cesspit of hate. If nothing significantly negative is being said about a game here, it means it's actually pretty good.

dead cells is amazing, swallow knight sucks ass and darkest dungeon is ok

Here we have the angry contrarian.

I love Dead Cells, been playing since EA. The real reason why I'm not hyped about this is because Motion Twin has been cranking the difficulty curve too high too fast in the past few updates so the only way to progress now is to grind your face against the forge. After watching Docfirebird's stream on what 4 Cell looks like now, I'm none too eager to return.

I honestly didnt enjoy it as much, combat felt a lot more clunky and less responsive

It gets old fast, there's not much to sustain conversation.

Dead Cells looks great and full of options at first but you quickly realize how samey everything is.

After a few successful runs and beating it at max difficulty there's nothing to bring you back.

They quickly pushed a small balance patch that makes the difficulty a lot more doable now and fixed one of the main complaints people had with 1.1 regarding the teleporting elites being unfair.
Well beating the max difficulty is pretty much what beating the game is supposed to be, the new 1.2 update added 2 new areas and another difficulty that has a new ending if you beat it.

This, the devs have been obsessed with cranking up the difficulty through the most artificial means possible. Its been this way for a while.

This, the game is dogshit.
>roll
>roll
>roll
>attack

the grinding for weapons is a slog
the new update is pretty cool though but overall the game runs out of content fast, which is a shame because i love the controls and weapon variety

I find DC to be boring after a while. Also Hollow Knight is not a roguelite and this helps. Too many indie roguelites.

The only artificial thing was the elites in 1.1 being bullshit since they could unfairly hit you with their abilities or teleport into your face and kill you instantly.
The patch they released today fixes those issues however, instead the higher difficulties are more difficult due to them having added new enemy types that are harder to deal with due to their different behaviors, not because they made existing enemies unfair to deal with.

You can literally describe every game with dodging and attacking by just saying it's spamming dodge and attack.

The game is genuinely the worst execution of a genre mishmash I can think of
>hey, lets make a metroidvania
>with soulless procedural level generation instead of an intricate hand made world
>also you don't need to discover any special powers to traverse the world, except for the one you get after the tutorial boss
>it'll also take inspiration from dark souls
>but only superficially, because touting your game's difficulty is hip nowadays. No satisfying weighty combat, rpg mechanics, or anything like that
>it'll also be a """roguelike"""
>but with permanent character progression so permadeath means nothing, and to induce an artificial challenge by forcing the player to upgrade their numbers before they can beat the next boss

Dead Cells is as much a metroidvania as Dark Souls is a platformer desu.
The game pretty much has the same "roll/shield and attack" loop that souls has, being inspired by something doesn't mean you have to literally be the same game and have the same kind of experience as said game. You can clearly see that the Dead Cells combat took inspiration from souls.
Pretty much every modern roguelike has permanent character progression, many in way worse ways than Dead Cells. Outside of the legendary forge (which I agree is just grind padding) the other upgrades aren't essential to beat the game.

I'm just gonna ignore OP being a retard and ask. I played Dead Cells and got to the first boss on the rooftops (I assume that's the first boss), and I'm kind of shocked at how little damage I'm doing. Like, it'd take be 15 minutes to fight this nigger. What am I doing wrong?

Hollow Friends and Dead Cell Friends are like Kirbyfriends and Metroidfriends, saying they hate each other is moth propaganda and deserves the zapper for even suggesting otherwise

Damage you get from stats is exponential, you should focus in one stat instead of spreading them evenly.

>Exponential
So a plus 200% boost increases the final product of the 100% boost and not the base? Damn.

Two are pleasing to look at and the other is generic, hideous pixelshit trash.

Dead Cells is waaaaaay better than Darkest Dungeon.

Lmao, no.

>generic pixelshit
The player and all the enemies are 3d models tho, only the levels and NPCs are actual pixelart.

That's opinion, man. Some people like fast scoot loot and spoot and some people like "sand castle on a violent beach" resource sims.

Yeah

I'm dabbing on IRL at this very moment.

I feel like the devs hate their players, is this some french kind of thing?

but user, hollow knight is shit

Isn't Dead Cells boring and monotonous???
I got like 3 of the difficulty cell things and it just got boring at that point.
