Why does everyone suddenly know who Gordon and act like he's this big hero?

Because all the soldiers and scientists tracked him in the first game?

The scientists that survived like Dr. Eli spread word-of-mouth about his good deeds.

because the resistance is led by scientists from black mesa who know that he alone stopped Nihilanth's forces from invading earth
because the combine are worried about him showing up
because the Vortigaunts see him as a Messiah after he freed them from the Nihilanth

Because there never should have been a sequel

Everyone knew who Gordon was in HL1 despite it being his first day. That makes less sense than everyone knowing the guy who took down the Nihilanth and freed the Vortigaunts.

It wasn't his first day. He has lots of personal items in his locker already.

Because his nobody is the big final boss of the game.

>because the resistance is led by scientists from black mesa who know that he alone stopped Nihilanth's forces from invading earth
How did they know he did? And why did the x20 generic scientist character models and guards suddenly become single characters?

It’s a gigantic underground military research lab in the dessert, of course all the relevant staff are going to be briefed on the guy who’s coming to perform a supremely important experiment.

because HL2 is just COD and it needs to tell you how awesome you are

Not everybody, when Gordon arrives in City 17 none of the citizens know who he is, and only the people in Black Mesa East know him because they knew him from Black Mesa or worked in the same area of expertise.

"Be glad you're not the one they're looking for. Poor bastard doesn't stand a chance".
It seems only important underground railway characters know who he is, and after Nova Prospekt it's obvious.

>How did they know he did?
They send you to Xen to do just that and word of mouth from the Vortigaunts of your success.

That's because the people at Black Mesa East informed the underground railroad people to give Gordon all the help he could. Video games are close to the lowest form of entertainment, and people here are supposed to play video games twenty-five hours a day, yet they can't catch basic information that a moron like me can.

Halflife werent actually that great games
they were the first to do something that everyone else would eventually have anyways, but otherwise they're pretty boring and not designed very well with a barebones plot that nobody would have cared about if it hadn't reached meme status

cringe

wrong
hl1 is a great game
hl2 is just a tech demo

yes they were

Being a scientist on a black site is not like working at a walmart dipshit. Of course he got introduced to the team/settled in before his first day of actual work

Soldiers are pissing when they hear Gordon's name near the end of the first game
Scientists know about Gordon
Vortigaunts know about him
All the parties involved consider him THE man of Black Mesa.

HI GORDON
*AWKWARD PAUSE*

man of a "few" words

Barney throwing Gordon a crowbar is the biggest DROPPED moment in HL2.
Who the fuck out of the dozens of guards is Barney?
Why does he suggest Gordon has an attachment with the crowbar?

A load of characters in HL2 act as if they are the franchise's fans, who know almost everything about Gordon because they played the game and experienced the events unfold from Gordon's point of view.

daily reminder hl fans like hl2.

Shut up ESL mutt.
I know you didn’t play hl1 on release

>sequel acts as if you played the first game

>Who the fuck out of the dozens of guards is Barney
Are you actually retarded?
It's Barney from Blue Shift

>reading skills

I'm retarded, sorry.

Because the story line had drastic changes during development. In the surviving voice acted script from the leaked beta, Gordon was seen as a fortunate hindrance who could help turn the tides of war. They weren't ever expecting him to come back, in fact Kleiner feared his presence might have jeopardized what they were working with.

Short answer is , the constant blowjob you received from all of the cast was fucking unbearable.

>despite it being his first day
I think you could be mixing up Gordon Freeman and Leon Kennedy

There is literally nothing claiming it's his first day. He's definitely younger than his peers. It's pretty clear he's worked there for awhile. He's probably newer though.

Did you even play the game? Literally everyone knows him immediately and is often relieved to see him. Barney makes so many comments implying Gordon has worked there awhile. The entire game, for the first 20 minutes is screaming at you that he's been a black mesa employee for awhile now. And absolutely nothing implies it's his first day. It would legitimately make zero sense.
