I've been playing ace combat 7 for a while and I'm having good time. what about previous games? are they on pc too?

4, 5 & 0 were all great titles although the only way to play them on pc is through emulation. Check /aceg/ for guides to get them running
Assault horizon was the only other ace combat game on pc, people have mixed opinions on it
>7 for a while and I'm having good time
You have low standards bro
play 4 ,5,0 instead immediately
7 is far better than 5
no way zoomer
Cope
0=3jp>7>4>5>6>X
Best we can hope for is AC7 selling well enough to warrant HD remasters of the PS2 holy trinity. Assault Horizon is also on PC but plays nothing like the rest of the series.
>Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown set a new franchise record as launch month dollar sales totaled more than 80 percent higher than October 2007's Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
>japan
who cares, if it sells bad in Europe and USA its doomed
Only 0 is better than 7.
Neither OP or that user, but I've been playing this series since the PS1 and 7 is legit the best game in the series.
Emulate the Japanese release of AC3 with the International patch applied.
You won't regret it.
but bro people above said 7 is the best why play rest?
Objectively true opinion.
I don't remember where I read it, but it set record sales numbers for the series in the west too, outselling the previous best selling game in the series, 04.
Oh, don't take me saying 7 is the best in the series as an indication that the rest aren't worth playing. That'd be retarded.
>#1 PS4 game in the UK
>#1 in Australia for any console
>for a week
lmao
>Takes the opinions of anonymous text boxes on a Malaysian flyfishing forum for granted
3 is fun but people who put it over any of the holy trinity are delusional. They're just being grognards for fake internet prestige. It's like faggots talking about King's Field in Dark Souls threads.
If you keep moving goalposts we're gonna need a bigger football field
>Niche plane game manages to hold #1 spot at all
>Moves goalposts, because he can't cope
Cute.
Should I play 6 before 7? Is 6 really that bad?
both 6 and 7 are bad
Post yfw youtu.be
No. It has stellar gameplay but weak story.
The only shit aspects of 6 are it's story and plane selection, the rest is all great
6 is unremarkable but the graphics are nice. The corniness that saturates all of Ace Combat comes off as annoying and jarring instead of endearing.
By "no" I mean it isn't bad. It's worse than the trinity, but still a strong 8/10. If you can play it before 7, you should.
>another ace combat thread in Yea Forums instead of moving to the general
lol, ace combat fans are some of the most braindead posters.
>over 70% of the downvotes on youtube about real life aviation videos are from steam accounts who own ace combat 7
>People are making video game threads to talk about video games on my video game board!
5 > 4 > 0 > 7 > 3 > 2 > 6 > X > 1 > Advance
Maybe if you hate fun
Pros:
>allies aren't useless
>Allied Support is amazing for clearing huge groups of enemies
>amazing graphics for 2007
>Best superplane
>Allies are pretty cool
>AWACS is near-Long Caster levels of based
>multiple battles per mission encourages multiple playthroughs
Cons:
>Shit plane selection
>ass story
>ass story characters
>cringy dialogue
>Main antagonist ace is a joke who only is mentioned twice and relies on aimbot drones to absolutely destroy you
>underwhelming final boss, both design wise, and the fight itself
That said, I really hope 6's superplane is just as broken in 7, because the ADMM and 2 EMLs are literally going to assrape everything into oblivion
7 > 04 > 5 = 0 = X > 6 = 3 > 2 > 1
But if you disagree, that's okay. I can't possibly see any of these rankings being objective.
these threads quite literally just repeat the same shit over and over again, get out of your bubble.
>Advance is fun
>totaled more than 80 percent higher than October 2007's Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
That isn't a surprise. AC6 was an Xbox 360 exclusive when previous games have all been on Playstation.
>Individual starting the thread is a newcomer to the series asking about the series
>People go in to discuss said series and where they should go from here
Sure, they COULD go all the way over to /aceg/, but who gives a fuck? You could literally ignore the ONE thread about Ace Combat and post in the 3 Smash threads or 3 Resi threads or however many there are of either.
here, this should help a bit. just go ahead and emulate the holy trinity. and 3.
pastebin.com
What the fuck is your problem with X?
Assault Horizon is better than 0, 4 and 7. Only braindead fagboys will disagree.
I started playing X for the first time yesterday. It's pretty good but it has the worst dialogue in the series so far, holy shit. I'm happy the cutscenes are done with stills like in 04.
Also, nice try faggot. You're not getting a (you) out of me.
he asked if they were on pc, most normal people would google the game in question if they wanted to find it out, but in the new age of 4channel kids make threads to get spoonfed
but yes, let's pretend like you're actually having any discussion about the game and not rehashing the same shit you have been for the past 4 weeks.
So far this thread has discussed how well the games rank in the series, how well 7 sold, people playing certain games for the first time. Looks like discussion to me. What triggers you so bad about this?
dude chill the fuck out hide the thread if you dont like it
yes, thats only whats been """""discussed"""" every since shitcombat7 has dropped.
yes, let's pretend it's discussion and not dropping our opinions into the void and praying someone else pays attention
You're so mad over people discussing a game you've probably never played. It's embarrassing. Re-evaluate your life, man. I couldn't imagine dropping into a thread, one of the dozens on the catalog, just to say "WOW, I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT A VIDEO GAME I DON'T LIKE OR HAVE NEVER PLAYED!!!"
Get a life, dude.
>entire thread is people posting "but no!, X is better than Y"
yeah, that's discussion alright, kiddo.
All of this could be avoided if the first person to respond to him looked at his well thought out, reasonable post, deleted it, and then posted "Kill yourself, faggot."
Now share with me your Cipher-Mobius 1 are the same person theories.
Just got my HOTAS to work with it and I have to say, 7 is really great, but has a few major flaws
>removed wingman command
>barebones multiplayer
>questionable english translation
>lazy PC port
It feels more like a remastered 4 than any of the other titles.
Sounds like a RE2:RE thread
>It feels more like a remastered 4 than any of the other titles.
Maybe that's why I like it so much. I didn't care too much about squadron commanding. I liked being a one-man army that decimated entire fleets.
>lazy PC port
Other than the Hotas shit, 7 is insanely well optimized, I'm playing it on a 4yr old laptop with an 840M on medium/high settings and it never dips below 60fps
Yeah multiplayer seems really half-baked. I hope the DLCs introduce AC Infinity style PvE scenarios. I also would have liked to even just have affirm and negative responses as options. Trigger being a mega-autist mute and that being lampshaded by the game itself is weird. I wonder if his silence was previously expanded on in the story but it got gutted by the end.
>questionable english translation
Really? Even when the english acting is much better than before?
>questionable english translation
What's wrong with it?
>I hope the DLCs introduce AC Infinity style PvE scenarios
Kono said it would be easier for them to make a dedicated PVE spinoff title than to try and implement PVE into AC7 now
We should just be glad 7 is even on PC, but it's true that it's a bit lazy
>no ultrawide (not an ultrawidefag but really)
Is that art by Yoji Shinkawa? Sure looks like it..
Any more?
*ahem*
0>7=4>X>6>AH>5
Not him, but the localization was really lazy. The "italian bistro" thing (it was just "bistro" in the jap version), and just reusing a ton of lines everywhere (Count uses the exact same version of "that ain't funny", "gimme a break", "righto", and other lines all the time, McConney uses her "Come on dammit!" line three times in one mission)
>no FOV setting
>have to tweak the settings manually to get better draw distances than consoles
2 things the port could easily offer by default but you have to hack these option. Especially the draw distance by default is HORRIBLE, the PS3 games weren't even like that
>no good AA options
>No directinput, Hotasfags seething
literally one ini file change away
Play Jap 3
US 3 sucks
The bistro thing is actually the opposite of lazy. If they were lazy they could have just translated it. Someone decided to modify the line, so they put in more effort than they needed to.
Obviously it was a bad modification and they shouldn't have done it, but it can't be called lazy.
most of avrils cutscenes are fucked up too. when she talks to tabloid avoud mission 7, she says something like:
>so you just left the other squad on their own and fucked off to safety, right?
and tabloid responds
>Yeah. idk why but i just followed trigger into battle
??? it's like they just translated the japanese literally. and in the credits, it only listed 2 japanese people as translators
I did. It was good, but people overblew how good it was.
No it is lazy because they clearly weren't communicating with the core team and making sure their work retains the meaning of the original text
Also >YuktoVANIA
>So you simply watched things unfold from a distance
The implication is that he followed trigger, but didn't get involved, just watched from a distance.
Which is why it's lazy. It could easily have been a real option
>7 being worse than 4
lol............
It's still choppy as fuck, not to mention every other line is a run-on sentence
0 > X > 5 = 4 > 3 > 2 > JA
haven't played the others
4's the best of the original trinity. In my opinion, at least. I liked being Mobius 1 more than the squadron shit from 5 and 0 and I didn't mind the score attack missions didn't bother me because I was good at the game and never had to restart.
I finished 0 4 or 5 times over on Ace Difficulty but I couldn't even finish 4 once, it's so boring
no, she implied that the whole penal squad just hung back and let the others get fucked up cause it was too dangerous. she turned around all surprised when tabloid said trigger was the only one that saved everyones asses and he just followed him in
all the cutscenes from mission 7 up to 10 are about avril and her dad. she expected nobody to be as dumb as her dad and risk their lives for someone else, but trigger does it.
she's the one responsible for sending trigger with mckinsey too just so he doesn't have to go to tyler island during mission 10. but again, the shitty translation doesn't make it clear at all
>no JEPG Dog
0/10, not our princess.
0>7=5>3=X>4>6>AH
Assault horizon is more fun and less of a slog than 5 so I don't see why anyone would put it last when 5 exists.
>YuktoVANIA
Noticed that lmao
How could they fuck that up? At least the text in those magazines were pretty neat
>and just reusing a ton of lines everywhere
Cute. No, that's real funny.
*sips* ahhhhhh Ace Combat 4, now THATs a game!
>ace combat 7
No Content 7. This is why you need more of the older games to play to get your fix.
Well, va and ba are both valid transliterations of バ. If you haven't already played AC5 then you really couldn't know which was right.
I mean, they should have checked, but we all know they're not going to put in that much effort. ACI had like a million different references that the localisers missed.
There is campaign and multiplayer. did previous games had something more?
>S rank Ace difficulty in AC5
>Doesn't do a damn thing
RRREEEEEEEEEEEEE
THAT'S SOMETHIN
How the fuck am I supposed to S Rank Faceless Soldier on Ace difficulty? Fucking missiles reeeeeeeeeeeeee
MORE ENEMIES
GREAT TIMING
Isn't AC7 one of the longer AC games? Like, as long as AC5?
RIGHTO
So all the games have no content, thats why people say oh now that youre done with the 30 minute campaign, play this other 25 minute campaign from 1997
I'd rather play a good game for 7 hours than a bad game for 70 hours.
>451811150
RENT
FREE
What does that even mean?
7 is better than 4. So are 5, 0 and X, but I don't know about 6 since I never played it.
AC4 is overrated as fuck.
This mission is the hardest mission to S rank by far, you need 11760 points from destroying stuff and your time must be under 11 minutes. Make sure you kill the ace during the mission, it should spawn after destroying 50% of all non TGT enemies. Also bring the upgrades that reduce the amount of damage you take and the one that heals you to 50% damage, that way you will never get oneshot by the missiles, even when you sit at 50% damage taken.
>warrant HD remasters of the PS2 holy trinity
They have said time and time again that they will never do that.
>how to prove you haven't played any of the games
AC4 is the no-frills AC experience. I can see why it's more popular than something like AC5 which has more to hate (and more in general).
Did they?
I played No Content 7, not the others. The story was so bad in 7 and I dont want to touch the others. It was fun for the 30 minute campaign I played through. But the AI is so dogshit and the levels have no replayability so I'm probably not gonna even finish my 2nd playthrough. And enjoy your imbalanced as fuck barebones tdm multiplayer with 0 patches since release and probably none ever.
seething
You did not beat the campaign in 30 minutes.
The multiplayer is indeed terrible but I never cared about it so whatever.
At least the PC version of AC7 has pretty good optimization. I hit 144fps with no issues and it feels good man
>You did not beat the campaign in 30 minutes.
Ya no shit, it's called hyperbole you hyperautismo
>beat the campaign in 30 minutes even though at least one of the missions takes 20 minutes by default.
>OLD GOOD
>NEW BAD
it's a better game, maybe not for its time, but just cope
It's just basic and dull. The story is nice, the narrative is pretty cool, but the majority of the missions are just so boring. Yeah sure 5 has cringey story and characters and a few gimmick missions but I'll take those over 4's blandness any day.
Ace Combat Vietnam when
Kono literally said in an interview that they might do it if the fans want it
You ACfags are in a pool of hungry sharks, better watch yo back ;)
>if the fans want it
>if
He knows the fans want that shit even more than they would want Ace Combat 8.
>what we did to/for skyrim
Made it a bit prettier, turned it into a porn game and failed to fix the fundamental issues with the combat, quests and writing?
It's obviously they'll do it but only if
>AC7 sells well
>AC7 and 8 build up enough assets to re-use
the console versions run badly
No I'd rather get a brand new game than games I've already played but with more graphix
For me it depends on how I'm feeling. AC4 doesn't bullshit me with scripted sequences, but AC5 has more variety and context to get engaged with.
AC0 has the best elements of both, which is why it's my favourite AC game.
>AC4 doesn't bullshit me with scripted sequences
>pressXtodoubt.jpg
Fair enough.
My only problem with Zero is that it's too short for the story it wants to tell. The way the events unfold feels rushed and sudden and with barely any buildup.
I agree, that's my main gripe with the game. But it demonstrates the strength of the game if the only complaint is that there isn't enough of it.
Yellows were a bitch, I'll give you that.
Are you the guy I told to play X on the last thread? I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Crux is kind of hit or miss, and the dialogue loops a little, but the gameplay is positively fantastic, isn't it?
>Yellows were a bitch
They were literally invincible, you could not damage them at all despite pumping 20 missiles up one of their asses
Then suddenly they become piss easy to take down in Farbanti and just seem to line up for you to down them all in a minute
Is PS4 capped at 30?
Yep, that's what I mean. I don't like that about 4.
But that's just about the only thing that can be said to be scripted in the game.
The story is bollocks, it's true. I've not played AC6, but I imagine it's in the same tier.
The main thing I like about ACX is the branching campaign. It makes replaying the game much more fun.
>Ace Combat Vietnam
Does that Strangereal earth even has Asian countries?
The nations that have been mentioned through the mainline games all have similar racial maps so far, like Whites as a majority, Blacks as 10% and some, then Asians as a super minority.
So is there a Japan's Strangereal-equivalent if the characters like Rena or Nagase are not as a native race in their home countries?
Base version runs at like 900p with a fluctuating FPS in the 50s. Pro version runs at 1080p with a 60fps lock.
>900p with a fluctuating FPS in the 50s
Actually disgusting
kill yourself, jannie wannabe
>The story is bollocks
What? X probably has the least retarded story in the series, it's barely even there. No cringey characters with retarded motivations, no nonsense or stupid shit, no attempts at deep themes or symbology, it's just you helping Aurelia fight back.
All consoles are capped at 60. PS4 Pro almost always hits the cap, base PS4 usually hits it, both Xboxes kinda have difficulty. Seems like PS4 got a lot more optimisation than Xbox did.
There's a lot of Strangereal that hasn't been explored in detail. Who knows what the western Verusan continent is like.
Selatapura is Singapore. Sotoa might be an Asian country.
He PRETENDS to do it FOR FREE
I suppose that's one way to look at it. There basically isn't a story, which you may consider to be better than a bad story.
Personally I felt short changed - though with such a short campaign I'm not sure what else they could have done.
Fuck you he is not wrong.
Tho ac3 is still the best one.
why do some parts have lvl 1 in their name?
Can you level them up?
lvl 2 parts are for multiplayer only
There are level 2 parts, but they're only available in MP. They're off at the bottom of the tree in their own section.
>have a fantastic multiplayer title, only marred by being f2p with all associated symptoms
>close it
>replace with vastly inferior multiplayer in 7
Too bad the multiplayer is so awful
Really should have been PvE instead of just a war thunder clone
Unironic cringe
The thing that stood out to me was mission 9. The mission where you have to stay above the clouds. Towards the beginning of the mission, Tabloid says
>they're making us do SOMETHING!
>but WHAT?!
I know the line was supposed to imply something fishy was going on, but the way they translated it just made him sound like he's mildly retarded and struggles to grasp basic concepts instead.
I honestly don't care too much if the story is good or bad as long as the gameplay is good, which it is in X.
>tfw enjoying 5
>everybody shits on it
>awacs: if they shoot missiles at yuck then hide under the clouds
>tabloid: lmao wtf do we do
Nice job Bamco
AC games are often elevated by the presentation. Megalith, ACES
and Zero all have great gameplay but they also have fantastic music, great buildup in terms of mission briefings and cutscenes, and ingame radio chatter. They'd still be good missions without all those things, but in each case the result is greater than the sum of its parts.
But I agree, out of all those things gameplay matters most and ACX nails it.
ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN PLANE, BLAZE.
Do the games past 5 have any dumb missions like this, where you're doing nothing for 10 minutes while characters talk about backstory every minute or two? 5 in general is way overloaded with dialogue, a lot of missions so far feel like their length could have been cut in half if you removed all the waiting for lines to play, which can be really annoying coupled with no checkpoints and kills my interest in replaying it.
The first playthrough is always the best. I wish I could play it for the first time again.
Just ignore it. All AC are great, but personal preference differs. Or join the eternal war.
It's my favorite in the series and I give precisely zero fucks what everyone else thinks.
AC5 is the worst about this sort of thing. I didn't play AC6 or 7 yet, but AC0 and ACX don't lead you by the nose in this way.
Finished Ace Combat 3 recently, and got the true ending. So you're telling me that this, ALL OF THIS is a simulation made by a buttmad nerd because Chad stole his girl??? And I'm a fucking AI? Mind blown. Holy shit this game holds up so well, even if the visuals are a bit dated now, they are still very impressive for a ps1 game. Ace Combat X next then.
>Do the games past 5 have any dumb missions like this
Nope, it's pretty much just 5
Can you tell me what emulator you've used and the settings it had? I can't seem to get it to work.
The chad cucked himself by uploading his consciousness to the internet, only to have the girl and his real body get blown to bits by a terrorist explosion.
>mfw there's a Brazilian character in 3
Fucking Aldair, man.
THIS IS THE NAIAD
>AC3
If the Remake ever happens I hope it won't be about that murder fantasy of his though.
I want to see what really happend in the war and the characters in their real life form.
How the fuck do you guys pay attention to the dialog and gameplay? Wish there was a in-game review dialog option like some games
>falling behind Pops
Fuckin' nuggets
It's getting closer to AC3 years
The optimization is great, but I have a feeling they outsourced it to someone from Nvidia. Its pretty obvious its intended to be a console first game
>no mouse control in menus
>no generic controller support or rebinding
>no support for certain resolutions
>only one AA option by default (have to edit ini for more)
There are few times where some troops should be labeled IUN or Usean, yet get a blanket "Osean ground troops". This is noticable in Transfer Orders, where one of these "Osean ground troops" says "But Osea is our brother nation!", which doesn't make sense. Its implied that Avril is Osean, but there's a few voice lines she says that contradict this. There's a few other lines too that just don't really make sense.
Reminder that AC7 is a stepping stone for a new console adaptation by combining AC4 and AC5 elements. So the next one will be guaranteed as a PA's new magnum opus by combining AC0 and AC3 elements.
Is that really young Simon and Yoko?
Why not combine every game's elements
>4s cool narrative
>5's squad
>Zero's ace squadrons and ace types
>whatever 6 had, haven't played it
>7's environments
>3s multiple factions
>X's branching campaign
I used to be able to do that when I played 0 and 5 a year ago, but it seems like I forgot how in 7. I understood most of it, but had no clue who was speaking. Just replay the game and you'll start to pay more attention to this.
7 is more frantic, there's always more stuff going on that demands your attention so it's harder to keep track of the radio chatter.
That would be AC10, the final entry of the series.
Sure thing friendo. It was a bit of a pain for me too. Retroarch only launched the game with the REarmed core, which doesn't have grapical update, both Beetle and Beetle HW wouldn't launch the game. IF ePsxe 2.05 works on your machine, try that. Personally it kept crashing so I went with the 1.9.0 version, using Pete Open GL 2.9 for the video and Eternal...something for the sound. As for the controler, I connected a DS4 via bluetooth (can connect it via usb too) and used DS4Windows to simulate a Xbone gamepad that W10 would recognize. Let me get a screencap of the video settings off my laptop and I'll get back to you. In the meantime, get ePsxe and the bios (I used scp-1001 US and it worked flawlessly), Pete OpenGL 2.9 driver and the sound driver that comes with the emulator should be okay, if not, I'll tell you what audio driver I'm using. Brb.
6 is fun, people just get caught up in the small shit when comparing games
Have you tried PCSXReloaded? Someone recommended it in another thread
mega.nz
Here's a link to AC3 with an English translation already patched in, since that other user's basically telling everyone how to set up the emulator.
I can't seem to roll and pitch at the same time and it's driving me crazy, is that just how the game works or did I set something up wrong?
>Belkan technology is considered to be literal witchcraft on Strangereal.
Nah, that's you not remembering details correctly.
The IUPF and Osean Court reviewed the preceding events and came to the conclusion that Trigger didn't kill President Harling after all.
The scene after that is Avril not even being surprised that McKinsey went back on his word and silently ditched her after making it seem like he wouldn't. There's a reason why even Bandog doesn't think McKinsey's worth protecting.
When Will They finish 3 translation? Wanted to read those extra files
I think I have what I need, but the Pete Open GL 2.9 plugin didn't come with the 1.9.0 version of ePSXe. I found it online though, assuming that's the one I need.
>Its pretty obvious its intended to be a console first game
It wasn't a year after the first announcement that it will be released on Xbox and PC, so yeah.
I can fucking sense this.
>General Resource = Erusian origin
>Neucom = Belkan origin
>UPEO = ISAF origin
Incel game.
Pic related is the video settings for Pete's OpenGL2.9 Renderer. You can tinker a bit with them if you experience slowdowns but Stretching mode and Render mode MUST be at least at 1, because it will give "pixel failed to render" or some such error. Please note that the 1600x900 resolution is what worked for my 1920x1080 monitor. I tried using a tv screen to play the game but the aspect ratio was always borked. The game should look pretty good while playing (no visual glitches AFAIK), and a bit pixely in the menus (since you're stretching from a 4:3 to a 16:9, it should be expected). You could also just run it in 4:3 to have a sharper image.
For the sound, use Eternal SPU Plugin 1.10, which I left all on default settings, ask for a screencap if you want them anyway. As for CdRom (don't know how much it matters) I used ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.7.0. Bios is scph-1001.
All the plugins I mentionned didn't come with the emulator, and as I downloaded a package from who knows where years ago, I can't tell you how to find them, but it should be pretty easy.
Can't say that I have, but I've completed the whole game with great visuals, no glitches and the whole thing ran very smoothly, so it might be overkill?
I believe it is, the name isn't ambiguous. Try it out and report your findings. Ah, one last thing: I might be dumb but I don't think that 1.9.0 let's you change settings mid-game, so you'll have to restart quite a bit to get it right, so use savestates, good luck!
Yeah, you don't go on living on the Electrosphere, a copy of you does, so sublimation is only for posterity, as the original you will die regardless
Just played through Ace Combat X last night. Apart from the very reduced sense of speed I was getting from the game, it seemed perfectly fine. The idea of having to decide on what missions to go for and having that affect the difficulty of following ones was fun, I wish they would expand on that, and in a perfect world it's the kind of thing that could even decide in what direction the war as a whole would go storywise. Game overall seemed to be a little bit more challenging than I remember 7 being, though I wonder how much of that is because I was playing it on Hard from the get go, but even still enemy missiles seemed to fly way faster and I would have to react to them almost immediately.
But on the other hand, it's also the first time in a long time that the final missions didn't seem like a massive jump in difficulty, the Alect Squadron and the Fenrir prototypes were just challenging enough to keep me on my toes and restart a lot without making me feel powerless and like I was being cheated like Dision or Mihaly did.
And yeah, people who say Belka is the worst have clearly never seen Leasath's goddamn awful president.
What's your setup? Is used a DS4 controler and set ePSXe up so that the game recognize it as analog, seems to work pretty well, although the roll is a bit sensitive sometimes, so I have to compensate with yaw.
I'm a graphics whore and I got a bit disappointed on 7 graphics. It's like I'm playing Hawx for the Xbox360, and I think Hawx at least tried to have realistic city scenery.
But Neucom was created by a group of scientist that were thrown off General Ressource for being "Heretics" with their science projects.
I remember mentions on other threads how Project Wingman or some of the other PC-centric Ace Combat-esque projects is meant to be a lot more graphically impressive whenever that comes out, so you might want to keep an eye out for that, user.
Any idea why my Xbone controller isn't getting picked up by the emulator? Connected via USB btw. The cutscene at the start is running okay, so the controller is the only issue now.
I love 3 the most
>General Resource = Erusian origin
>Neucom = Belkan origin
It's the reverse. Neucom is originated from Erusean Air and Space Administration (EASA) while General Resource is originated from the merging of Belkan's Grunder Industry with the other corporations.
No it's not. It's the best game in the series. The only people who say otherwise are nostalgia fags or poorfag PS3 owners who were buttmad they couldn't play it. The single objective and small scale missions in 7 is a serious downgrade compared to 6 and a step backwards for the series. 6 also had the most impressive ground/air forces synergy which made the whole campaign seem like a full on large scale military campaign.
Which AC game has the most replayability?
I just beat the game myself and yeah, fuck Navarro. I purposely used an old plane with a shitty paint job just to humiliate him as much as possible.
I didn't know about it. Thanks, it really looks better than AC7.
Offtopic, but HAWX was a really good Ace Combat substitute for PCfags back when the holy trinity was hard to emulate, Now that AC7 is finally here, I think I liked HAWX more.
>Ubisoft
Sorry, it's dead in the mud while AC series will keep advancing.
>Any idea why my Xbone controller isn't getting picked up by the emulator?
Have you tried setting up the keybindings in the controller>pad 1 window? I had to that for input to register. Even though I'm using a DS4, the pc (and therefore the emulator) registers it as a Xbone gamepad. Is there still that annoying distinction between wired and wireless controller? Back in the 360 era, you HAD to buy a wired controller for pc, as the one that came with the removable wire didn't work. Is you pc detecting the pad? Are you on W10?
>The cutscene at the start
For some reason, subtitles wouldn't show up in anime cutscenes, which includes that very first cutscene of the female reporter introducing the source of the conflict. I used an older Pete's Open GL back then, and switching to 2.9 fixed it. So apparently subtitles aren't hard coded into the videos. Bear that in mind if it ever happens.
6 with DLC>0>X>the rest
Anyone who says this didn't actually play it. The probably just watched one of the cutscenes and autistically get triggered by the game's cheesey tagline. as if all ace combat games don't have attrocious writing. Fuck the conversation between scrap queen and tabloid doens't even make any sense. as well as mihaly's speech. fuck after the trailer i thought the story would be good, but they somehow fucked up the story in each of those great segments - from mihaly's spagetti spill after his epic 'what is a nation' statement, to the awkward setup and pace of conversation between SQ and tab after the 'stick with trigger' tagline (as if SQ would need to buy a drink for someone to figure out who the base's big ace was, and dear god what was with tabloid's recount of the event as if it was something that happened a long time ago. 7 is also filled with weird engrish, as if the translator didn't speak english natively and it's fucking insane how the dubbing staff never bothered correcting it (avril sticking in "although" and similar conjunctions where they don't belong in a normal sentence).
It's been way too many years, but I remember enjoying HAWX too. I wonder how it would measure up when compared to Assault Horizon, since the both of them take place on Earth.
3 has 5 entire routes and a true ending to go for. 0 has different bosses depending on your alignment and an unlockable fight against Mobius One. X has branching missions that require multiple playthroughs to experience.
I don't think anyone here thinks any different, user. That's kind of a pointless statement to make.
Well it's up to you if you're graphicfag. But don't expect too much from Ubisoft right now.
I was disappointed in 7's graphics on PS4 Pro too. But 7 running at resolutions above 1440p look pretty OK imo. There's no fix for the low geometry surface elements but the bump in texture detail is great. The game supports 8k supersampling running at 4k as well which helps with that too.
How the fuck?
6 with most missions containing ABCD objectives/fronts add tremendously to the replayability. It's also the longest game from a pure start to finish playtime perspective.
I have a question of my own: I'm going for Ace Combat X now, tested it already and it's seems to work with no trouble on PPSSPP. After that I would like to play the 3DS, Assault Horizon Legacy. But there's also Assault Horizon Legacy+. What's the difference and does the second one works on classic 3DS, knowing that I have the Circle Pad Pro that adds a second circle pad to the classic 3DS?
So how does 7 compare to the rest of the series? Out of all the games i've played so far, i'd rank them as X>7=0>5
zero is the best game in the series
0>7=4>3>5>6>X>JH>AH
>an Asian character actually looks Asian in the Japanese game
That's pretty rare outside of Yakuza games.
Plus Works with classic XL
For me it's 0>3(story)>5>4>7>3(gameplay). Haven't played any others. I thought 7 was disappointing. They could've gone to interesting places with the "tech replacing man" motif but they didn't.
dision looks asian as well
It's the perennial problems of Belka that make them the worst. Wherever a Belka goes, they must also >
7's gameplay is better then 5 in almost everyway. 5s aircraft unlock system is absolute trash and there is like 6 gimmick missions that are a slog.
But otherwise same game? Or does it have more content? Anyways, I only have the original 3DS, so I'm better off with the former choice rather than the latter one, correct?
To be fair to Belka, they only provide the superweapons outside of the Circum-Pacific War. Other countries are perfectly willing and capable of starting wars and building superweapons without their help, even third world shitholes like Leasath.
I think the gameplay across the series (aside from 3) is similar enough that what posted plays just as much a factor (out of the games I've played). That said, I disliked 7's tree full of pointless upgrades as much as 5's unlock system, but that might have something to do with the fact that I spent most of 5 in an A10.
>dision
That name sounds French and he looks so to me.
>the F-14 is now just a shitty old plane with a wack paint job
Hold me bros.
They probably still needs Belkans technical expertise. Doesn't need to be from the state, AC6 has a named aircraft who was Belkan, fled to Estovakia and became the project leader of Aigaion.
They even pronounce it Dijon
Almost every friendly npc in the game flies F-14s
and everyone forgets this game cost to make was probably around 1% of the other ones (minus fifa, nba and spyro)
Good job user, you just took the only part of "Abyssal Dision" I didn't hate and then ruined it for me.
Alright, I got it working, didn't realize that you have to manually bind every button on the controller.
This game controls so much different, fucking hell. I guess that's the power of the PSX.
That guy was a member of Gault Squadron right? Why would an AWWNB member believe in the Grey Men's autism? Was AWWNB a Belkan plot all along?
>graphics whore
>disappointed by the best graphics in the series
It looks perfectly fucking fine and you're legit retarded if you compare it to anything on the 360.
>Abyssal Dision
What a cool fucking name tbqh
The series hasn't changed much from AC4, but if you're having a good time with 7, check out 3, 4, 5 and 0 later.
No, they're not on PC, but they emulate easily (at least I did, and that's how I came to love this series).
3 has a butchered western release, so don't even touch it. Download the Japanese release with the project nemo translation patch. The game has multiple routes and endings, which you need to see in order to get the true ending. It's the most experimental of the AC, and while it's not the best and fastest in the gameplay department, the story and cinematics are very good for its time.
4 is shorter, with less mission variety, but the story pieces in between missions are great and will give you feels.
5 is divisive. It's my personal favourite, although I still have to play 0. Most people dislike the scripted mission structure, but I honestly think it's not THAT bad. The story and characters are very memorable. If you just want to flight around and shoot stuff there's an arcade mode campaign to compensate.
7 has the best mission variety but the climax isn't very impressive.
>didn't realize that you have to manually bind every button on the controller
Always the simplest, dumbest things that cause the most trouble. Play all five stories and use the chart after your first playthrough to avoid missing optionnal missions (avoid Fragile Cargo though, it's boring and slow). Enjoy user.
AWWNB was secretly supported by the belkan government iirc.
What? He probably fled to Estovakia because he was an AWWNB member, so he's an outlaw in new Belka. Grey men has nothing to do with this. I'm saying those individuals who worked on Belkas' various superweapon project might decide to immigrate to other countries instead and get employed to build superweapons in other countries.
the soundtrack is really comfy

First time playing AC7 and AC in general, are all your AI teammates supposed to be borderline useless? Fun game though.
>gray man bad
Fuck off NPC
>are all your AI teammates supposed to be borderline useless?
they also sometimes shoot down enemies.
of course they are not as good as based Trigger who is unstoppable one man army that can endure a gorillion Gs
Shit, i think i can see what you mean about Belkans. Without Belkan superweapons, Estovakia, Erusea and Leasath wouldn't have the balls to start a war. Nuking Belka to the stone age during the Belkan War could've prevented a few decades or even a century of war.
Well he is an anarchist
>Gleipnir
>Belka
I refuse to believe there's any Belkan technology in this garbage, it's flimsy as all hell, you don't even have to aim for any structural weakpoints before leaving it completely hobbled, meanwhile Belkans had a GODDAMN FIGHTER JET that was essentially immune to missiles except at a very specific angle.
Gelipnir feels like an aliexpress knockoff belkan weapon, Navarro probably had a couple of old belkan scientists working for his arms industry.
Hey, Laesath doesn't have the budget for that. Not like they expected heavy resistance from Aurelia either.
They're more braindead than usual, you can't even give them orders anymore. Not that it would help much even if you could.
but who is the strongest ac main character?
Trigger.
Cipher, no question.
I want to say Cipher, but I haven't played AC4 yet, so I'll hold off for now.
Why does the TLS suck? I was expecting it to punch holes in ships. Is there any reason to use it over the pulse lasers?
Nemo with accumulated combat data of every playable AC characters
Gryphus 1
Fenrir has weaponized microwave, a huge ass bomb that makes FAEB looks like a joke and fully cloaked. Also there are 4 of them compared to 1 Morgan
The Gleipnir is my favorite superweapon because of how hilarious it is in hindsight. The game hyped it up just like every other superweapon, and the first time you fight it the camoflage will make it look tough. The fact that its some shitty Venezuelan knockoff of the Hresvelgr quickly shows in subsequent attempts though since you can rape the camoflage system in ten seconds and speedrun the rest of the fight.
the multiplayer is strange. i hated it at first because everyone just uses quaam. but lobbies with special weapons disabled are really fucking great.
i can't figure out what is cheese and what's not. mig-21 feels stronger than f-22 and other high end planes if special weapons aren't allowed. yeah keep trying to fly in a perfect circle, that won't go wrong at all...oops you got gunned down
feels so great to just suddenly assassinate people from behind. tail them without lock-on, then switch target and let the missiles fly. they never see it coming
LSWM is practically SWBM just renamed.
Complete shitter here. First time through the game, playing on Hard so I'm not expecting a cakewalk, but is there some kind of trick to mission 6 or do I just suck that badly? Even if I try my ass off I can only get around 12-13K. Should I be using some sort of strategy, or go grind for money, or is it simply a matter of git gud?
Mobius didn't do anything special. Yellow squadron was a bunch of jobbers and Megalith is the easiest endgame tunnel run.
Use the Gripen with LACM, it's by far the best air to ground weapon. It will also make pipeline destruction and the one with the radars above cloud cover much easier.
no, just shoot stuff until you run out of ammo, then resupply and keep going.
don't try to chase down single AA guns if they're too far away, they're not worth enough points.
go for high value targets like the drones, they give 500 points and only cost 1 missile
You're supposed to use the return line to refill and change special weapons for these kind of missions. Use a ground special weapon until the last five minutes when the drones spawn. You switch to anti air special weapon then and rape all the drones and planes.
Yellow squadron jobbed because of sabotage, fuel shortage, high tempo ops, and it's experienced members rotated to other squadrons. In the end only Yellow 13 is the old yellow left.
Literally just get good. Play some multiplayer matches, try your best to avoid missiles from players and stuff. Buy a better plane with the money from those matches.
After a few matches and switching to Typhoon I got like 30k points, while at first I got max 15k.
You know, after learning about Mihaly again, through every little detail, it turns out that Mihaly is a deconstructed version of an Ace Combat Player: Us.
-) It's been a while since there's an Ace Combat game, with Infinity released at 2014, there's a 5 year gap before AC7 came out. Technically, we have became veterans that haven't flown the skies for a while. Mihaly is an old, legendary ace, just like us.
-) "There are pilots like you in every generation, and I felled every last one of them." Yellow Squadron? Pixy? Belka's aces? Ilya Pasternak? Even Milosz Sulejmani and Andrei Markov? We have shot them all down.
-) Mihaly shot down Brownie, who's already trying to flee instead of fighting back. Some of us did that too, as Mercenary Cipher, and even Mobius 1 shot down some fleeing copters.
-) Mihaly is greatly feared by his enemies so much that people thinks no normal experienced pilots can match him. We never had problems with normal enemy planes either, only very few aces gave us trouble. Same thing at how Mihaly destroys so many Osean forces at Farbanti without the Sol squadron helping him.
-) You're saying Mihaly can survive a lot of missiles is cheating? Didn't we get the same treatment all this time? The game even explains how this is possible.
-) Notice that outside of story dialogues, most of Mihaly's radio chatters are mostly "Taking evasive action", "I have a lock", "Taking fire", "Fox 2", "Shaking bandit", and so on? That's mostly what AWACS will say to us in a dogfight.
-) I don't know about you, but there has to be a moment when you went "Huh, that's not bad, but you're dead now" to an enemy plane, similar to Mihaly 'toying' with his enemies before shooting them down.
And, when Mihaly was finally shot down, he survived, but he cannot fly again. I wonder how many of us 'gave up' and stopped playing the game when someone shot you down too many times in multiplayer...?
Ace Combat 7 multiplayer is weird because everyone just jumps into the hairball and flies their 5th gen fighter like it's a biplane, so the MiG-21 performs so well because it's the closest thing to one. Modern jets prioritize speed over maneuverability, and even if its pitch rate is great, more speed means it'll have a larger turn radius over a slower plane with an identical pitch rate.
And he's not a harder enemy to defeat than Pixy or Mihaly or the 8492.
That's not really a deconstruction per se, but even if that's not intentional those are some neat analogues in characterization.
Destroy the bombers before they take off. That should be half the requirements
Go to the base further west and bomb it. Prioritizes the warehouses, don't just use missiles, bombs and strafes for more efficiency
At this point the drones should spawn, bag them
Play around with the canyon eastern base for the remainder of the mission
Oh and don't forget the trucks littering around
>copypasting youtube comments here
Cipher > Mobius = Trigger > Blaze
Yep, that looks about right
Mission 6 is the biggest barrier to completing the game. I replayed Mission 1 a few times until I could unlock the A-10C, which has a lot more missiles and special weapons than any plane before it, and it became drastically easier. It has enough missiles and bombs that you could hit every target in the map without having to rearm.
>not letting him play and find out what a shitter raptor jesus is firsthand
My tube gets fucking destroyed in every multiplayer match. People say it's great, but I can't seem to know how to use it.
It's not that easy when gravity and inertia exist and your plane can't pull 25Gs
at least the other pilots comment on themselves being useless out there which is pretty funny
Mobius should be last, none of the challenges he faced compared to the other guys'
It's all those factors I've mentioned plus Yellow 4's death weighed him down. Mihaly is far more threatening than he ever was.
MiG21 is unironically one of the most mobile planes in the game, only behind X-02, Rafale and F-15E
You need to master dodging missiles, because the multiplayer upgrades basically turn the standard missiles into QAAMs
HAWX was dead as soon as they gave the development over to their Slav studio on a budget of a sackful of potatoes. It's a real shame too, there were only a couple of things that needed fixing for the prefect sequel and a true rival to AC, but they fucked up everything.
>Mihaly is far more threatening than he ever was.
Of course. Because Mihaly is Yellow 13's personal flight instructor
Going through the wiki to read up on AC3 now that I have finished all paths, a lot of the things on the wiki are never mentionned in-game, what am I missing? Where does one normaly learn of Darkness of Enigma?
What's your favorite air to air only mission? Alect Squadron from X is my favorite. The amount of enemy planes is crazy, and i like the fact that its a showdown involving all the best pilots from both sides of the war without any gimmicks, personal history or the fate of the world weighing the encounter down.
Which is complete fucking bullshit
yeah i saw the list. i like using the rafale too. but those post stall maneuvres can be really strong too sometimes.
it's funny, i used to love the sukhoi planes, but now i only fly weird shit like the Mig21 cause the tryhard kids all fly sukhois and raptors
lots of quick high-g- turns. and switch directions often. maybe slap on some Roll stability parts because i think it speeds up the roll.
roll to the side 90°, pitch up, do another 90° roll towards the ground and do a 180. most players can't follow the mig if you fly like that cause they just can't switch roll directions as fast
then sneak up behind someone, only lock on once you're sure they don't have time to dodge your missile
gg ez
The mission in 5 where 8492 ambushes you and you're supposed to run, but you're stuck in an attacker since the previous mission was almost entirely ground targets and you're literally too slow to get away and you've gotta shoot them down in an A10.
>tfw never had that problem because I never fly shitty attackers
MB1 and SF1 are the best. They had the highest cost planes in ACI, they're the best. Everyone else is on a lower level.
You missed out then, it was a blast.
just started that lightning storm mission and I am in hell
Love that one, it's really (((cinematic))) when you get hit by a bolt, while pursuing Mihaly at low altitude and narrowly avoid crashing on a stone pillar. And at the end of the mission, you go above the clouds and everything is serene all around.
How the fuck do you get s ranks in assault horizon legacy, destroying everything on the map in what i thought was a decent time doesn't seem to cut it.
I was able to beat it using a gripen with lacm and missiles. I didn't use the return line once.
Learn to go slow and make a slow strafing run. Get comfortable doing a single run an expending both your missiles and special weapons in a swingle long swoop.
That mission is great
Well, there's the Gimmick of them being stealth planes, I suppose...
I know it's not air to air only, but I will cheat and say Faceless Soldier's second half was an incredibly well-done sequence. Though I wonder how my opinion will change after I replay the other games, it's been a good year or two since I last touched the trinity.
Speaking of AC3, what's your first path and why did you chose that one?
>Refuse Dision's offer to join GR, why the fuck would I do that out of the blue
>Refuse to shoot down Fiona and Clarkson, miss me with that shitty assassination attempt, Park
End up at Neucom, not too happy about that but both Clarkson and Fiona have connection there so whatever I get to fly with best girl as my wingman
Do not follow Cynthia to Ouroboros, bitch be crazy and Sublimation is a meme anyway
BTFO everyone
Fiona ends up pretty sad over the whole affair
I don't have arms and I must hug
Probably 3 if you count completing all the different routes. Otherwise X followed by 0.
Why did they get the licensing to the F117 without making it obtainable, only to put it in one single mission, stealthed in a corner of the map with no reward for finding it?
It was on xbox because sony decided $599 for a console was a good idea.
Exactly that, yes. I didn't even want to join Neucom, I wanted to keep working for Future UN, but I'll be damned if I'll shoot down a friend like that.
>be me, little brazilian kid living in USA
>play ace combat games since ace combat 2 in 1999
>played pirated ace combat 3 JP on a pirated brazilian ps1, beat all story arcs, unlock all levels
>brazilian ps1 stops working
>buy ace combat 3 US, feel extremely let down by its inferiority
>buy ace combat 3 EU, no good
>buy ace combat 3 JP with ps1 JP, can't get it to play
>HOW DO I PLAY ACE3 JP!?!?
>years later, try project ace translation on PC
>CAN'T GET IT TO RUN
>years later, tfw got tired of ace combat games after playing ace combat 6 less than a year after its release (at this point I only played 2, 3, 4, 5, 0, and 6. No handheld or phone games)
>tfw all these new ace combat fans know much more about ace combat lore than me
>tfw have no patience or interest or money to dive back into it.
>thread trying to hype me for an ace combat 3 remake
>trying hard to resist it.
Attackers are awful in single player anyway.
I miss ACI where they could be useful. Still not that good compared to multiroles for most purposes, but you could use them if you wanted. Not like this game where you always need to be able to fight air so using a dedicated anti ground plane doesn't work.
>First time playing AC7 and AC in general, are all your AI teammates supposed to be borderline useless? Fun game though.
In AC6 they were so good that using them almost felt OP. I wish that system carried over.
>he doesn't gun down swarms of drones with his GAU
Just by the Eurasian's for some reason.
Do the attackers do more gun damage than other planes? Also fuck the fixed angle the gun is mounted on attackers
I think giving the ability to give squad commands after you become Strider 1 would have made sense.
WHY CAN'T I USE SKINS IN CAMPAIGN MODE FUCK
You can if you complete the game once, or I am going mad?
They unlock when you finish your first playthrough
PPSSPP is pretty good at PSP emulation, I'm sure you could get Ace Combat X running without much effort to setup or download. I've been meaning to decrypt the 3DS one for a while to play on an emulator instead of my 3DS, maybe I'll do that and post it in a thread tomorrow.
Not even counting allied assault the wingmen at least kept your 6 o'clock clear
us games huh
Start from 2 and play all of them.
2 has the best OST by far and 3 has the best story, though it's more like an anime instead of realistic military story.
They don't have pc ports but emulator works fine, only 4 has some big problems
Not enough to make them worth the effort. Outclassed by anything with a pulse laser secondary-- in the air and on the ground.
It has the best gameplay in the series since 6, but also has the missions trimmed down from 6's scale which is a huge downgrade and disappointment.
I think it also has the smallest plane tree, with 6 planes being Su-27 variants.
SP weapon variety is somewhat lacking I feel, 8 planes have LASM when there's only 2 missions that have lots of naval targets. And planes that had good SP weapons in previous games generally have the same loadout as other planes.
I remember in 6 the F-15E had 6AAM, SFFS, UGB (OP as fuck), and 4AGM. but in 7 it just has 6AAM, SFFS, and TLS which is useless.
What's the best way to avoid missiles in this game? Do you move toward the missile indicator, or away from them?
Talisman, he can summon missiles and artillery fire from anywhere on the battlefield.
Why doesn't trigger talk beyond basic shit like "Fox 2"? Is he autistic?
AHL+ adds circle pad support, which means two buttons for yaw and the stick for the camera.
It also allows you to disable maneuvers completely and has extra skins.
Why on earth would you move towards a missile?
Barrel roll
During Rena-centric flashbacks.
Your problem is using the F-14 for that mission, use a multi-role or the A-10. If you have the F-4E load it up with bombs and go full retard.
Some missions have time requirements. Check a guide.
Perpindicular or somewhat acute to your velocity vector. Just not so acute that it's visibly coming straight at you from the front.
Thank you, there's barely any info on the web regarding compatibility/content. The e-shop lists it as an update and there isn't even the regular version on it. Reviews on youtube are very amateur-ish. Found it for 8 yuros online, gonna pull the Trigger
Can anyone who is running a HOTAS through joystick to controller emulation (like X360CE) on PC comment on your experience? (Like limitations, and general impressions). I can pickup a Saitek X52 for pretty cheap but this is literally the only game I would play it with. Not sure it would be worth if the experience is subpar (I'm pretty comfy with using a DS4 on my PC as is)
You're making it sound more complicated than it is. Just don't fly straight, that's pretty much it.
Must have missed it then, don't remember the name being dropped. I understand what happened, but a lot of details on the wiki seem to come from an outside source rather than the game itself. Tbf I tend to not pay attention during Rena's monologues, as it is by far the most animu portion of the game barring Dision's full name
*QAAMs you*
And that's why only retards play multiplayer. It's unbalanced as fuck and there's only 2 lame PvP modes with no PvE missions.
Should be fine with normal missiles
I almost never get hit while jousting
What's the best plane to use for a gun-only run? or does it not matter that much
This game really needs the Growler, ECM in 6 and Infinity multiplayer was really effective.
Is AC6 that bad?
MiG-21 for the MGP
I don't ever hear anybody say it was bad, it's harmed by console exclusivity, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about its gameplay.
it's supposed to have VR on release as well, the dev used to post on /vg/agdg/
AC6 is not bad.
It has like 15 planes total, which sucks.
The story told through cutscenes is bad because they try to juggle importance between about 5 different characters and only 2 of them are interesting, but the characters in missions are cool.
The music isn't as high tempo as other soundtracks because missions can take like half an hour to do, so it might not be your style.
Other than that it's plenty fun, with one of the better final missions in the franchise I think. Too bad the Ace of Aces DLC is dead forever.
youtube.com
has anyone the webm of this?
The story is gay and the game is Xbox exclusive but everything else is solid.
What is that DLC?
What Ace Combat games share a universe?
A webm of the live action scenes from zero? That'd be one long webm.
AC4, 5, 0, 6, X, 7 all take place in Strangereal.
AC2 and AC3 originally did not, but were retconned to take place in Strangereal.
ACI contained elements of Strangereal but took place in the real world.
Strangereal: 3,4,5,0,6,7,X,AHL/Cross Rumble
Realstrange: Joint Assault, Infinity
Earth: Assault Horizon
A new difficulty mode for a few missions that really changes things. It was really cool, if overpriced, and you can't get it anymore.
>mission 4
>plane with president is being swarmed on by enemy
>shoot a missile at them
>cutscene shows up in which I kill the president.
What the hell? what if I didn't shot that missile?
>that fucking atrocity takes place on our world
Kek
Was it confirmed that Infinity and JA were the same?
I guess you can say It still has to Trigger
You still take the blame for it.
Same thing. On my first playthrough I was gunning the drones down and it still said I shot him down with a missile. It intentionally swarms his plane with drones so you have to fire in its direction and then goes to the cutscene when you do. Even if you're completely out of missiles.
thanks
>Even if you're completely out of missiles.
nice investigation osean niggers. Why erusians seem to me like good guys?
If you don't fire any missiles the entire mission then it just gives up after a while and triggers the cutscene anyway.
If you do use missiles but then stop firing towards the very end when the cutscene is about to play then the AWACS just declares you're out of time and the mission fails. It's kinda dumb.
Ace of Aces was basically a set of hard remixed missions, where they threw in more enemies and aces and sometimes the rival ace wouls show up too to kill you. You can look them up on Youtube, Dead Sea is the most famous mission.
I personally think it works really well the first time, granted you don't know and fire a missile, but it falls apart consecutively. Apparently someone said that there are always drones ID'd as allies next to you when the timer gets down too, which is where the missile came from.
The more I play the more erusians look like good guys. can someone give me a quick rundown on the lore?
The story telling through the cinematic's was pretty gay but everything else was solid, especially the gameplay and missions with their scale and replay-ability.
I'd really like to know why they scrapped the objective based missions entirely, its not like EVERY mission in 7 needed to have them, just some would be nice. Fleet destruction and Ferbanti would benefit from it, especially being able to choose where to spawn based on what targets will be present.
Eruseans are always the good guys.
The last major conflict involving Erusea was the Continental War of AC4. The war broke out because the rest of the Usean continent began sanctioning Erusea for not accepting refugees after the Ulysses impact. The impact also being the reason for half of Farbanti being underwater.
It's disappointing you can't use Avrils F-104 in campaign for the guns-only run. It doesn't have any missiles or hardpoints but you can clearly see its 20mm when you look at it.
It's real life up to 1989. Then instead of the B̶e̶r̶l̶i̶n̶Belkan Wall being torn down, not-Germany just goes apeshit on not-Eastern-Europe
Neither side is the good or bad guys, keep playing. Don't read this spoiler, but its fucking belka m8, its always belka.
fuckin incredible
Ace mode on steroids. The very first mission has the Aigaion show up along with Strigon team to push your shit in.
Joint Assault is in Earth too
There's a video on youtube that shows a missile fired from a drone hitting Harlings chopper if you don't fire.
Aside from Yea Forums's growing hype for the possible AC3 remake or sequel with an Electrosphere setup, I'm more interested in what's happening outside of USEA in that era though.
Is Usea the only continent where the mega corporations have become powers and outdated conventional nations?
What are the people from previous games doing?
((()))
>In 1999 a large asteroid, the Ulysses, is doomed to impact Strangereal, the size alone enough to nuke the entire planet to death.
>All of the nations know about this come 1994 and start up superweapon projects to help counteract it
>In 1996 the Belkins in this superweapon growth are shown to be the most resourceful and successful, and they take this as a sign to regain their land, cue AC0, and eventuraly them nuking theirself to prevent others obtaining their land
> Scientist doing this time spread all over, and join other nations in their superweapon making
>A lot of fucking wars happen (AC1/2) till the meteor arrives, and only 1 superweapon stands ready to tackle it by the end, Stonehenge.
>Stonehenge is able to break it apart and limit the damages drastically, but fragments still cause impact onto the planet, more less leaving massive debree in the stratosphere preventing a lot of space growth as a result.
>As this superweapons job is now done, cue more fucking war (AC4) with it and others being at the head of it
>Later on the nations figure they should try to clean up a lot of the mess this huge fuck off space rock left them, makes new superweapons to take care of this, and look, MORE WAR (AC5/6) because refugees from the impacts + new superweapons.
>Eventually the airspace is clean of rocks, most of the displaced people is solved and things are going well...when the idea for space elevators becomes a thing, including when this leads into larger networking and energy solutions (AC7)
>At some point after this, massive energy conductors are developed, and the 'Eletrosphere' is created, a massive network able to even preserve the shadows of minds that sync into it. (AC3)
BTW, every superweaon is Belka made in some fashion
What is even the point of guided bombs? everything at ground dies to missiles anyway
>named Gleipnir
>not Belkan
I used the AC-10 with air to ground missiles. Makes it easy. Only difficulty with this strat is when the drones come in during the last 5 minutes. But I still managed to get plenty of kills on them and get it done. Also, remember to actually equip the parts you buy in the aircraft tree in case you aren't already. I'm a big retard so didn't realise I needed to do this until about mission 10.
Diversity
>Tanks takes 2 missiles to take out, but dies to a single bomb
>Missiles have a 2000 lock, bombs can go upwards to 5000
>Missiles suffer radar unlock in cloud/sandstorms, bombs do not
>Missiles can only hit a single target, bombs have an AoE splash
There's enough reason to use them, including on ground focused missions.
I pirated it and want to buy it now. Any idea if I can transfer the save? It's in its own folder on my PC.
I flew an A-10 and got away fine.
dumb warmongering princess.
>hey let's bomb this other country
>omg innocent people are dying and my dog got shot
>why didn't anyone tell me war is bad? :(
>let's hold hands now
DLC teaser
>remake
Kono said that they will never make remakes or remasters. Search the archives, his tweets were translated. Licensing issues.
the fight against Mihaly and the autonomous unique drone were pretty cool, but most of the missions were annoying as fuck and unfun, the escorting around the city and having to guide bombs onto bases that could just be a decoy were just a snooze fest
I also don't like how Trigger literally kills 99% of the enemies, also, for some reason, the convict squad you get into early game was pretty fun from the usual "le honorable military man", meanwhile Strider squad characters were boring as fuck, my most memorable moments it's Bandog telling the squad to shut multiple times
What really annoys me is that your allies are talking shit all the time, counting kills etc. but I can see clearly see them flying around doing nothing. I am literally the only person on the battlefield and the rest are decoys.
I've been playing for 5-7h so far and maybe once have I seen them damage an enemy.
The AI is retarded in this one. Try following one of them around in replay mode.
unfortunately i feel like this applies to regular enemy planes as well. it's incredibly easy to shake them off once one targets you.
in 5 and zero they really try to stick to you. in 7, they just shoot 1 missile if you happen to get in front of them, then fly off in a random direction
it's kinda sad. sol squad, mihaly and the super drones are the only ones that have some kind of pattern. or any behavior at all
Just did, as I'm alt tabbled from the game, lel. It's sad.
Also, 60 Yurobucks for this much content is a robbery. 12hour long campaign (if you're taking your time) and then maybe you can replay exact same mission with exact same enemies, weather conditions and different plane (and you end up using same special weapons anyway). Why not add random mission generator, dynamic objectives, open battles or something? Why not add some squad management aspects outside of mission? Am I missing something, because I haven't finished it yet?
This is literally call of duty with planes. 15€ max for this, and even that's generous.
>When the Arsenal birds forcefield gets taken down and the music ramps up
They really should have stuck with spare squadron where all selfish shitters got wrecked and have the decent ones become begrudgingly recognised as a top unit of Osea but they're only sticking around and fighting out of their respect and loyalty to Trigger.
Would of been much better imo seeing all the selfish lone wolfs become a pack.
JOINT ASSAULT SUX
Started playing two days ago, and went exactly the same route
Only thing i didn't get:
Did we shoot down Erich to save Fiona? If it was someone else, where did he go anyways?
The files are encrypted, right. That means zero possibility of mods or AI tweaks. Feels bad man. I don't think this is worth $60 either so I'll grab it on sale.
I have no idea, he just disappears. One would think he'd follow Fiona to Neucom after saying he'd protect her. I suppose he just stayed at UPEO but that's just weird. I don't think he dies in that path though, in general the game either makes you kill named characters as a story objective or an optionnal objective. If they die off-screen they are mentionned in the news.
You can’t roll and pitch at the same time in AC3 which is why I can’t fathom how people unironically say it’s the best
this, the flight mechanics fucking suck
It's the best game in the series.
It's cracked and works 100%
I'm not talking about Denuvo brainlet.
>I don't think this is worth $60 either so I'll grab it on sale.
Maybe read the rest of your own post moron.
It's just UE4 .pak's so if someone wanted to recompile them, they could.
maybe he's one of those people that pay for videogames, what a fucking loser
Your allys' attacks are nerfed so they don't kill steal.
Literally who cares about that. Target is gone, who gives a shit who did it.
>In the year 2040, tensions are high between General Resource and Neucom
>A mystery ace has appeared and is now tearing apart anything that stands in the way of its mystery master
>But it seems like nobody could calculate for the apperance of the world's most milf former princess and the birth of a new super ace
>Ace Combat 8 - Electric Border Boogaloo
>Mister X shows up in Farbanti
>18/26 QAAMs hit him
>a dozen more standard missiles hit him
>get a solid 8-10 seconds total of guns on him when the UI starts to fuck up and missile lock stops
>he phase shift drives and accelerates to the speed of light, disappearing across the map in 2 seconds
They over did it with him. Hell, even his last fight he just fucks off and you never land the killing shot.
You hit him in the non-critical areas
I just replayed Lost Kingdom and you do actually have to finish him off yourself.
Well, technically speaking Count DOES stick around. I guess it would have been nice if your final squadron would have become Count, Tabloid and Scrap Queen though
He flies off so he can cry into the radio and not die user.
The game cares, points are assigned based on the last hit.
The score determines the cash you get and your mission rank. If you could get partial credit for allied kills then it'd almost be like the game was scoring itself.
Previous games did try to give the player a wingman to command with full power attacks. In that case, to avoid kill steals and get that S rank you could just order your wingman to cover you.
is it possible to kill the sol 1? it's the first ace you fight
I would rather have that possibility than having them be absolutely useless.
Sure, but it's not like Farbanti or First Contact where he just teleports away eventually. You do actually have to engage him and do damage to him to shoot him down, even if it is scripted that he survives in the end. It's also more fitting that he survives anyway, Mihaly is the kind of guy who would love to die in an intense dogfight now that he's old and at the end of his life. Instead he has to finish his years out as a miserable bedridden old man with nothing to live for.
>trying to spawn the enemy ace on Bunker Buster
Rate my overhyping collage Yea Forums
Really, the actual best solution is to bring back the wingman command system so you can control how much help you get during missions.
It was such an ubiquitous feature, even the 3DS Ace Combat had it.
user are you ok?
Wait what, need to see them in order? Thank fuck im saving each route in a different slot
In what sense, sorry? What did I write to make you think I am not okay?
I think user forgot a comma. I just finished it today and did it in no particular order. Just complete the game once, save on your profile (it won't take a slot). Load your profile but chose "New File" instead of a saved game and complete the other routes. Once you've done the five paths, the true ending will play. Not sure if you have to play everything from the start each time, but that's what I did. Skipping cutscenes/dialogue you already seen speeds up things a lot, and missions barely last 3 minutes so it's not a long haul to get to another path from the start.
Oh fuck me, didn't see the spoiler tag because of the dark theme I'm using so I thought you were doing that "not gonna finish my sentence to look like something happened while typing". mAh bad
>instead of defending AC 6 story, decides to shit on other games
you realize this is the worst kind of defence, right?
HAWX is better than Ace Combat but at the moment Ace Combat is all we have. Hopefully a western developer will think about making a jet arcade game in the future.
>ac7
>tomboy female character gets introduced
>reach the chapter where Trigger gets sent to prison
>"ah, so here is where you meet her"
>they never actually meet
I-I don't feel so go-
damn is hawx really that good?
Thanks.
Are there any other games like AC and HAWX? I remember reading a post about a navy ship game that played very much like AC too
Avril was getting mating pressed by Tabloid nightly while Trigger is forever alone.
He's easy to spawn, the problem is catching him before the missiles escape
PLAY WARSHIP FUCKING GUNNER
He's full of shit also try Skycrawlers if you want something like AC, it's made by Project Aces.
>Number one french vidya website makes a review of the game
>(((Professional))) game (((journalist))) thinks that Avril and Trigger are the same person
>Gets mocked in the forum
>try to defend himself nonetheless
"Yes I mixed the stories. And yes, I played the game, I just mixed the stories for a moment. It happens"
No HAWX was shit.
But they met each other, she asks to work in his plane herself. Thats how you get the queen upgrade. They probably just not talked around much, thats what you get since they dont want to give personality to ac main characters.
from how she was talking (I will watch him from afar, I will give his plane a little work) it didn't seem to me like she talked to him at all, or even met him, but you might be right
My opinion is pretty worthless since I only played the demo of the first HAWX but god no, its nothing like ace combat at least, didn't feel like a sim either.
This is the same game as naval ops: warship gunner, right? Fucking loved that shit, ace combat with boats, complete with lasers and shit.
The air force delta series is pretty decent and similar to ace combat although with much worse controls, aerowings is interesting but not particularly great, over g fighters is a 360 game which i've never played but want to, wing arms on the saturn is fucking great, as is aerofighters assault on the 64.
he probably played the only mission and that's it, happened to me at first when I thought I was the girl until they started to call me Trigger and it was clear you were a different character
It was pretty good, yeah. I wouldn't say it's better. Gameplay-wise it's pretty much on par, but it's set in the Tom Clancy near-realworld universe. One mission you're close air support for ghosts from the Ghost Recon games, another mission you're escorting Air Force One, that kinda stuff. I think one of its selling points was that it used satellite data to make real-world maps. It's definitely worth a play through if none of that sounds like a drag. For me its main upside was that you can play through the story mode in up to 4 player coop.
sky crawlers was pretty weak imo, didn't like the slow mechanics and the scripted manoeuvres. Didn't end up playing much of it.
Worst mission in the PS2 trinity, debate me
I could see that happening with something like the narrator from AC4, but Avril talks directly to Trigger on multiple occasions.
I liked it though
>same game with Four Horsemen, Solitaire and Final Option
None of those stylistic changes sound particularly appealing but I'm in if the gameplay is on the same tier.
It's the second game, I haven't played the first one so I can't commend on it, but Warship Gunner 2 is every fucking amazing thing about Ace Combat, but with boats instead, and even a little extra on top, since the game goes hard on ship type and armament customization. It just lets you keep stacking guns on top of more guns on top of more guns up until the point where guns can't get any bigger and then it starts giving you lasers, photon torpedoes and giant energy cannons instead
It's absolutely glorious and everybody should give it a go. Even the challenge mode is pretty fun, it has increasingly more ridiculous scenarios each mission, and the main cast of the game even comments on how insane the things you're put up against are, and clearing it unlocks OP special parts for your ship that can give you things like infinite ammo.
at the start you can get confused
>first cinematic is shown and you don't know if it's a flashback/origin story or is happening in the present time
>the girl says that her father/grandfather didn't want her to join the military
>gets up in a plane and gets shot down
>next sequence is the start mission
I mean, you can clearly see they are both different characters if you play the first mission for literally 5 seconds, I guess the french guy saw the cinematic and said "cool, I can le go do le review now" and stole the rest of information from other review websites
I haven't played the 2nd but I guess i'm going to, hope it emulates better than the first.
0 >= 4 > 7 > 5 > 3 > AHL > 6 > X > 2 > 1
Or just didn't pay enough attention. It's like journos saying that zombies in Umbrella Corps don't attack you, completely missing the fact that you have a device that renders you invisible to them unless it's damaged by other players. But who cares about UC, it's a shitty cashgrab imo. It's more grating when they barely play a good game and rate it without a second thought.
>stuck in mission 5
bros...
The story is terrible but in terms of gameplay, it's on par or at least close to on par with the holy trinity.
It also has anime planes.
yo what the fuck
sign me up for that shit
That's not Four Horsemen.
I never got Four Horseman. Explain
I haven't run into any outrageous emulation issues, some occasional slowdown, but I think that might have been my computer. It certainly didn't have any of the issues the AC games of the same era had.
Please consider giving it a go, user! It even has a crazy story too, it takes place on Earth, but it's an alternate reality Earth where instead of Belka you have the Dutch.
>stick with trigger and you'll make it
>multiple people that stick with him don't make it
Obviously they didn't or they wouldn't have died.
you attack a supply depot but to get to it you need the destroy radar towers at the same time your squad mates do
i never understood the hate though
>markov scriptly gets behind you pulling 5000gs
>"this guy is good"
Is AC7 somewhat toaster-friendly? As in, i5-2500k/GTX760
How are you this bad?
>Champ
Verifiably did not stick with Trigger, took on Mihaly solo, got blasted for his troubles
>Wiseman
Willingly broke off from Trigger because he thought you needed a wingman to be bait for you, got blasted for his troubles
>Full Band
[DATA INCONCLUSIVE]
Play
Ace Combat/Air Combat (PS1)
Ace Combat 2/ Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy (PS1/3DS)
Ace Combat 3 (Japanese version with fansubs)(PS1)
Ace Combat 4 (PS2)
Ace Combat 5 (PS2)
Ace Combat 0 (PS2)
Ace Combat X (PSP)
Ace Combat 6 (x360)
All of them on consoles but can be emulated
Ignore Assault horizon on PC and PS3/x360 it sucks dick
I'm running medium-to-high settings on GTX760. Buttery smooth 60 FPS all around. The optimization is great.
5 got HD remastered
you needed to preorder 7 on the PS4 to get it tho
and so far they have no interest on selling it on its own for now
I failed the first time I tried it but cleared the mission on the second try, felt badass as fuck. Haven't played 7 yet but I thought 5 was amazing for feeling like you were part of a tight squad
Excellent. Going for it once I finish 3. Thanks user.
>5 got HD remastered
It's just the PS2 game running at higher resolution, which I can do on PCSX2. When people talk about a HD remastered trilogy, they mean modern graphics. As in the PS2 games remade in 7's engine with its hish resolution terrain and textures, high poly plane models, new shaders and lighting, etc.
>You can't roll and pitch at the same time in AC3
Didn't keep my 12 year-old self from enjoying it, to be quite honest.
Think AC6 cant be emulated, am i wrong? Also, i would be okay with anyone skipping X. But of course DO NOT PLAY ASSAULT HORIZON, not even pirated.
I personally think it is, and don't understand how someone can say "its nothing like ace combat" but some other anons clearly disagree so who knows.
6 had the shitloads of missile trails in the air and iM@S plane skins
>WHOAH there's a GIRL on board?!?!
jesus, count
unless you're on console lmao
>Also, i would be okay with anyone skipping X
don't take this advice ACX is secretly one of the best games in the franchise
>sheltered noble
>woman
>acts like a normal sheltered noble woman
>Righto, Nigger
Jesus Kono, did you have Raimi write this
Something I missed was Bandog asking for Fullband's location during Faceless Solider
Fuck bandog
That's not a remaster you dipshit
What you want then is a Remake as in making the game again for modern hardware, like Resident Evil 2.
A Remaster is just taking the original game and touch up certain things to make it look or run a bit better in current hardware, like Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
It's a classic "we'll be home by christmas" mentality.
Notice how the very first act of the war was a clean, quick, surgical strike that hobbled all Osean naval capabilities without a single loss of innocent life. Nobody in Erusea seemed to expect the meatgrinder that followed, the twin Arsenal Birds plus the Belkan drone technology was supposed to serve as ensurance for that.
>muh semantics
Doesn't matter, faggots. You know what people mean when they "ace combat hd trilogy".
I don't find it better than 0 or 4 but it's definitely still a very enjoyable game. Besides I'm so fucking tired of silent protagonists in AC.
At mission 18 now, and I have only one question and concern relating to the story.
Are the princess and the scrap queen going to lez it out?
Really bad bait.
>I'm so fucking tired of silent protagonists in AC.
>doesn't know what ace combat is all about
It's him! ... Akula !
I'm thinking about buying used X360 just for AC6. Good choice or bad one ?
Depends on how cheap you get get everything for.
isn't the 360 emulator close to being decent? maybe look into that first
No. Wait 1 or 2 years for a decent emulator.
Isn't 6 too arcadey? Even for AC's standards?
no that's 4
I think the bigger problem with 6 is cringey as fuck plot and the cutscenes quality. They look even worse than AC5s.
I did it but that was after I already knew it was my favorite AC game.
No. You could say it’s easier because 90% of it is groundpounding, but it’s no less ot more arcadey
Go fly with the angels buddy
>isn't the 360 emulator close to being decent?
Wait does that actually play AC6? I thought that current stage 360 emulation could barely get past title screens lmao
no idea, i just remembered seeing a post somewhere
and this youtube vid youtube.com
Looks nice but runs like crap
