>make up intricate power system >have the 2 most powerful characters fight each other >kill the most powerful (known) character that is portrayed as almost immortal using a cheap mass produced bomb >highlighting that no matter how strong these fantastical powers are they are no match for human ingenuity >be it for good or evil
>Netero took Mereum to a weapons testing site >made every effort to move Mereum away from the civilians >Knov says the mission is completed once Netero and Mereum met >it's revealed that Netero had a deadly bomb inside him this entire time that would have ensured everyone else died had it detonated in the palace >"It'S cAlLeD a DeUs Ex MaChInA"
Aiden Rogers
>>make up intricate power system >end fight between two of the strongest beings with generic dbz tier punch harder >antagonist doesnt even die how is that good?

It's not a dbz tier punch fest, it's the epitome of talent vs effort. Netero spent decades honing his hatsu and it became a nigh impenetrable defense capable of countering almost all attacks. Meruem has loved less than a year but he's the apex of his own species, resilient, fast and strong, more than anyone else. When pinned against each other Netero has to constantly perform at his best or he dies while Meruem has to survive long enough to overtook his smallest mistake. In the end Netero fails to pull through but it doesn't matter cause the competition was rigged anyway. The game was just to satisfy Netero's thirst for a mortal fight and his duty was fulfilled the moment he dragged Meruem away from the palace.
Jaxson Hall
>intricate >literally just make up whatever you want and the more limitations it has the stronger it is Wow so intricate.
Hunter Cook
nice cope and still a deux machina
Carter Carter
>>literally just make up whatever you want and the more limitations it has the stronger it is How is that not a cool concept? It also allows characters with less physical strength to become useful
Connor Gonzalez
It's cool on paper but then you run into all sorts of problems with it, because when stuff like Gon-san is allowed then there's no reason why everyone who was about to lose in a death battle wouldn't pull the same shit in an attempt to get a win even at an extreme cost.
Nolan Bailey
>because when stuff like Gon-san is allowed then there's no reason why everyone who was about to lose in a death battle wouldn't pull the same shit in an attempt to get a win even at an extreme cost. Gon-san wasn't about winning it was about mutual destruction. He gave up everything he had to reach a point where he could kill pitou and the cost would have killed him if his best friend didn't have an abomination from the dark continent that breaks all kinds of rules for a sibling.
And it still took Gon over a month to stew in his anger enough to make that contract. We've seen that grudges take time you can't just pull them out of our ass in the last moment. To the point that literal suicide bombers in the current arc cannot switch targets and their captain who is cursing a child only a few months old states that her particular curse will be the weakest of the group. Last minute powerups can occur, Cheetu makes a crossbow in a last ditch effort to defeat Morel but in that case it was actually useless since he's a moron. People that try to criticize nen need to understand it first.
Caleb Stewart
>The game was just to satisfy Netero's thirst for a mortal fight and, you know, so he doesn't have to off himself just to kill a literal ant
Levi Ross
>>antagonist doesnt even die answered your own question
Leo Kelly
Netero probably killed himself because he hated what the world was turning into .
tranys and fags marriages. and the world new comfortable life style that made men lose their masculinity
Ayden Parker
>hey guys cool thread what about POLITICS
Carson Anderson
That was not a punch harder fight. Meruem was stronger the entire time and Netero’s plan was to wear him down over time with his insane speed despite his attacks being weak. Meruem also could have ended it the first time he took a limb, but was trying to come to a compromise instead of fighting, he literally just wanted to talk What fight in dbz is like this?
Aiden Watson
how is a nuke deus ex machina? i mean it's nuke, it's the only power in the world that can actually destroy the earth, it's pretty realistic that nen or nen user, something that can't destroy the earth would lose to it.
Matthew Martinez
>end fight between two of the strongest beings with generic dbz tier punch harder Try harder, shonenshitter.
Maybe if Dragonball is the only manga you've ever read.
Brody Baker
I've never read Dragonball. The characters are visually identical, it's not really an opinion
Owen Rodriguez
>The characters are visually identical Meruem design is clearly based on Cell. I don't see any other HxH character similar to a DBZ counterpart though.
Hunter Turner
I miss HxH and I miss when you could bring it up as a positive example of storytelling without a bunch of shitposting pseuds writing worthless essays and people who just hate it because of le fandom
Hunterfags are the most sensitive people on this board next to CSMfags. Every time you call out togashi there's a brigade of shiposters ready to spout buzzwords at you
Kayden Kelly
And they could have asked Killua to ask Nalluka to get rid of ants.
Adam Morales
The other character literally looks like an in between buff master roshi more or less exactly
Jordan Young
>old, bald and beard = roshi
you realize that Toriyama invented neither old bald characters, nor bearded characters, right?
Kevin Martinez
snk, hxh and csmfags fanbases overlap
Grayson King
You clearly never interacted with Pisstards.
Kayden Sanchez
Too many posts where Togashi gets "called out" are shitposts that ignore the actual story and pretend there's a problem with an event. Like the perpetual complaints about Gon-san or the Rose.
Adrian Morales
i really liked how netero never had a chance, a lesser mangaka would have had netero asspull some new power to prove that hard work beats talent but in the end netero was forced to realize that he could not win his final battle and took his own life to accomplish the mission. he was even kinda salty about it rather than be a zen like most old master type characters would be.
Jason Edwards
Mabye make legit complaints and arguments instead of whining after your nitpicks get easily dissected by fans of this series? We don't play around
Zachary Lee
>We don't play around This has to be ironic
Anthony Edwards
What makes you say that? Im dead serious
Leo Collins
>enter HxH thread >FANS BAD AND EVIL >Unrelated babble about current popular series within three replies >Post presenting non-existent competition/hatred between fandoms as FACTS >samefagging your obvious bait >Obligatory "HXH SHITS ON EVERYONE" false flag without fail. Imagine if there were new chapters
i am right. with all the miracles nen can do why netero had to die . why did he not just teleport and replace himself with a nuke . like Goreinu did with his gorillas
Carson Hernandez
>why did he not just teleport and replace himself with a nuke Since that's not his ability he'd need to find someone who had that power to be a part of the operation. Pariston alone would have guaranteed this would not be possible even if we did have someone with a teleportation ability that worked fairly long range to swap Netero with a bomb at just the right time. Plus, Netero wanted to have this fight so in the event he's killed the bomb being on his person has the highest possibility of killing Mereum as well assuming he's only restricted to melee range attacks. Knov is out because he's shellshocked and wouldn't even go near a royal guard much less risk being detected by Mereum. He was also busy supporting the people still fighting in the palace and there'd be no guarantee that Netero would be able to land on a spot marked with the teleportation marker to escape and the bomb would still need Knov or someone else to chuck it through a doorway from inside. There's no way to monitor the situation outside the doorways unless the trigger to throw the bomb is the exact moment Netero enters the room properly.
So it was technically possible but I think Netero chose the simplest setup that ensured he'd be in a position to have his fight but also complete his mission of killing Mereum should his own abilities fail.
Camden Young
I had forgotten gow much I miss HxH. Legitimately sad.
Jonathan Hernandez
>why netero had to die . why did he not just teleport and replace himself with a nuke Speedwatcher.
Not even that user but learn to read, you didn't answer his post at all.
Easton Ward
Fuck off /pol/fag
Chase Reyes
It's a shame we never got to see more group battles besides the phantom troupe getting jumped, Knuckle and shoot and chrollo fighting the zoldycks. I think JJK does team ups really well and I would love to see Togashi show diffrent hatsu bouncing off one another if he decides to come back.
James Perez
cringe
Michael Howard
It does. People can't just "pull the same shit" because there is an exact circumstance that allowed Gonsan to happen which factored in Gon's untapped potential, an extended period of time focused on the target of his revenge, a complete willingness to sacrifice everything for that one moment, and a complete disregard for his own life and safety. It's not something anyone can just pull off at the drop of a hat because death is staring them in the face.
Levi Evans
Every shitty battle shonen has that too, side characters with utility powers or good match ups is always a thing. It's not the power system inherently, it's Togashi's writing that is good, he would do the same with devil fruits has power system
Ayden Anderson
You shizoposters are the worst forms of cancer.
Brayden Anderson
You're a literal retard.
Bentley Ramirez
>someone is about to die >NO THEY WON'T USE A NEN CONTRACT TO KILL THEIR KILLER TOO, BECAUSE...THEN THEY'D DIE?!?! absolute state of hiatusxhiatus tards
Evan Parker
>cant even read >cant even shitpost
Caleb Walker
Yeah it really makes zero sense why people aren't willing to trade their life for a power boost in these situations, retards itt try to cope by saying Gon's is a special case but no-one ever said you get a Gon tier boost, a smaller one is just as good because literally anything is better than nothing if you're about to die.
It significantly undermines almost every fight in the story.
>they're going to be killed >they can boost a nen ability in exchange of their life
can you understand it by yourself or do I necessarily have to explain?
Tyler Bell
>retards itt try to cope by saying Gon's is a special case but no-one ever said you get a Gon tier boost You still are avoiding the time restriction required to form this grudge-based powerup regardless of how much power an individual might get.
Nathan Johnson
So how long has Hunter x Hunter been on hiatus anyways? It still is right?
