To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Machikado Mazoku. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Abrahamic theology most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Momo's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation - her personal philosophy draws heavily from Hegelian literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Machikado Mazoku truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mikan's existencial catchphrase "Peach juice is great with a little lemon," which itself is a cryptic reference to Hideaki Anno's Japanese epic Neon Genesis Evangelion. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Ito-sensei's genius unfolds itself on their Kirara magazines. What fools... how I pity them.
And yes by the way, I DO have a Machikado Mazoku tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the Dark Clan' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own beforehand.

Her early work was a little too deeply hidden in the Japanese National Library archives for my taste.
But when Machikado Mazoku Volume 1 came out in '15, I think she really came to her own, commercially and artistically.
The whole chapter has a soft, bubbly artstyle and a new sheen of self-contained referencing that gives the volume a big boost.
She's been compared to Ume Aoki, but I think Ito has a far more focused, nuanced eye for narrative
In '17 Ito started writing this; Volume 4, her most accomplished compilation. I think her undisputed masterpiece is "Ritual of the Dark Night! The Demon’s New Friend!!". A chapter so whimsical, most people probably don't consider the implications, But they should, because its not just about Mikan's character development and importance of friendship. Its also a major power paradigm shift in the cast itself. Ganbare, Shamiko!
