Why do fire powers suck ass in every anime they are in compared to other elements?

Pic related is the Gouka something no jutsu a fireball a fucking fireball, compared to Doton or Fuuton techniques this is a fucking joke.

Why does fire suck ass Yea Forums?

Mainly because fire isn't even a real element, just a chemical reaction.

Because you can't show burn victims in children's shows.

>burns everything in your path
>including your soul and your very own existence

Fire is the strongest. Every possible element is derived from fire.
-fire: fire
-ice: negative fire
-lightning: sky fire
-dark: absence of fire
-light: presence of fire
-water: kill yourself
-wind: caused by temperature difference i.e., fire
-earth: solid magma (fire)

This. Pyromancy should be scary as fuck and a sketchy moral choice.

Because it's harder to animate believably, it also produces light and casts shadows which is another element of complexity. Water on the other hand usually flows in a specific direction and wind magic is literally just random white lines with some adobe aftereffects

this. flash frying something =/= burning it properly

some of those attacks were comparable to having a match snuffed out on your whole body at the same time. for all that flame it had almost zero actual contact time

The only times I've seen this is FMA although fire could be OP if the writer uses it in a creative way instead of it just being a chromatic ki blast

It looks cool when itachi does it. Thats a pretty big fireball

>water: kill yourself
Holy cope.

Bleach is one of the few who did it justice.

Yamajii was a beast

Kill yourself, narutard.

>and a sketchy moral choice.
I'm not certain about this one. Unless they start forest fires willfully or burn people's crops down I'm not sure why there should be a moral problem with fire specifically.

people need fire. food needs cooking and houses need heating.

What about heat control?
Puck is a fire spirit who can manipulate heat itself, he just removes all heat from a location and makes things freeze instantly.

>people need fire
Wrong. People need heat.

Someone's already answered this better in a previous thread: fire fucks you up gruesomely and basically nobody wants to show it, so it has to do little to no damage.

that's a strange hair to try to split. but given that fire wizards can probably do it, that's fair.
still doesnt prove that fire itself is harmful, just that magical house heating doesnt require fire.

I mean fire as a weapon specifically. It makes me viscerally uneasy even in historical material.

A big factor is that convection seems to not exist in most fiction media where fire seems to only be able to burn through direct contact with the flame. Only few show like FMA go out of their way to stress how opressive the heat around a big fire is.

using ice to stab someone or freeze them until fingers fall off isnt any better
using wind element to slice their limbs off isnt better
using stone element to bludgeon them to death isnt better

just fire seems worse cause its painful

same reason guns are useless in fiction. A realistic portrayal of fire powers would be too powerful to write around.

These are all significantly less gruesome and agonizing than grievous burns

What? Fire guys are always the best in the setting.

Flame of Recca
Ao no Exorcist
Shana
The magma guy from One Piece (close enough)

There's lots of series where fire related powers are strong.

And Mustang literally broke the series to the point the bad guys came up with a plan to handicap him. Truth is still a faggot for that when he was literally physically forced to commit human transmutation and was fucking BLINDED.

ee those options for ice, wind, or stone rarely occur.
ice typically just incases people in ice prisons...so an off shoot of petrifying or binding.
Wind is usually only slight cuts to cloths or skin rarely full limb removal.
stone if blugeoning sure but rarely skull cracking.
fire to be scary/intimidating needs the burns/immolation which you will rarely get, as it's typically just a bit of cloth on fire or their ass and they just roll on the ground r jump in water.

depends how potent the fire magic really is.
irl fire doesnt work well for killing fast because people just dont burn very well. If fire magic cant burn any hotter than a roaring campfire, it might not even be able to kill people before they escape

>being bludgeoned is better than burned
there's way more people in the hospital from car accidents than fires

Take a look at how the flamethrower dude is portrayed in Pumpkin Scissors.
A realistic portrayal of fire is NOT a heroic ability in any way, shape or form.

Same reason why Dabi or Shoto job instantly the moment they use their fire powers.

Fire IRL is lethal and makes gruesome injuries; it can't belong in a children's show. So it either has to be useless or off-screen.

Fire is ironically gorier VS just slicing someone up with ice or wind.

Because being burnt alive is one of the worst ways to go out

>Mmmm lethal burns aren't so bad actually. I can probably get used to this

Boo, Ouchi died from radiation poisoning not fire.

Water is the most bitch ass element. Oh, I'm gonna fucking get you WET. Fear me.

I know, posting a real burn victim felt like a step too far somehow

>waterbend your blood

Blood is metal, dumb fuck.

you get it

fire is just a stand-in for 'energy attack' in stories that don't have some equivalent. your badass MC/villain can just pretend like heat doesn't affect them, because fire lacks the physicality of like a bullet or a punch or a sword or whatever. You can very easily mentally imagine someone ignoring fire like walking on coals, because it's very nature is intangible. It's also associated with stuff like uncontrolled chaos and being unfocused, so naturally you can't have your super badass character use fire because it'll look like they're just spraying their spunk everywhere like an idiot instead of being all cool and precise. It also tends to be visually a mess- a strong fire is big and fucking everywhere and there's probably smoke and shit and if you're trying to show a cool fight scene all that is harder to storyboard out and plan around.

AND THEN the injuries burns cause just aren't as cinematic. Getting cut or punched or mutilated can spill blood or break bones or send a character flying through a wall and stuff. What happens when you get set on fire or get burned? There's no movement there. At best it's an explosive fireball or something that can fling shit everywhere but then that's really just explosions being cool and not the fire itself.

obviously none of that means fire can't be cool but if you're an author and its crunch time you're going to take shortcuts and follow the path of least resistance, which usually means any creative use of magic powers tends to lose out to JUST PUNCH HARDER

Fire element attacks are all played out in the 90s. Nowadays people go for more hip elements for the attention,

nigger, water cuts diamonds

Read more manga.

Um are you forgetting about the op fire user?

>using wind element to slice their limbs off isnt better
>not using your control over wind to create a localized vacuum on the person, causing their blood vessels to rupture, orifices to bleed out, and their various body parts to just *pop*.
>not causing someone to suffocate because you're pumping their lungs so full of air that they can't exhale

Every element has some absolutely barbaric things you can do, even moreso if the power involves creating the element out of nothing wherever you want. Water Control+Creation? You just instantly drown a motherfucker by filling their lungs with water.

Nah, burning can be just as much of a spectacle as punch hard or mutilation. Writers are just too scared to actually treat fire like fire.

> turns into water due to lack of oxygen

Go be neurotic elsewhere, Pepa. This isn't your thread.

Only if the writer is a hack:
>water jet cutters: Blastoise, Goblin Slayer
>water domain expansions: Kisame
>blood manipulation: Katara
>draining moisture from the opponents: Crocodile, Mera
>trapping people in orbs of water to drown in: Zabuza
>FUCKING tsunamis: Aquaman, Leviathan

Water powers are lit when done justice

>Water powers are lit
how interesting that the word to describe them as amazing has to do with FIRE, THE KING OF ALL ELEMENTS

>Blastoise

They are not many ways you can rebrand throwing fire, there is simply not much you can do.
>Wind
super speed, tornados, air blades, poison gas, sound, Vacuum, lightning
>water
ice, mist, high pressure water cutter, blood, absorption, gels
>earth
sand, rock bullets, crystals, metals, plants
>fire
Lava/magma, ash, smoke

Go read/watch Fire Force and see how badass fire powers are

That's not Ouchi, it's a burn victim from a motor accident.

I'm personally a sucker for explosions for a "fire" power. Simple, and effective. Even better if they're also a brawler, instead of lobbing fireballs they just deck a motherfucker and make an explosion on contact

>AND THEN the injuries burns cause just aren't as cinematic.
They can be if they're done right. Even in Naruto, Asuma getting burned by his own attack was a clear sign that serious shit is about to go down. Burns are cinematic in the way that their reveal gives a sense of inevitability and permanence that cuts or punches often can't unless you're showing dismemberment, pierced eyes and such.
No matter how deep a stab is, there's always the expectation that if the person survives, the wound will probably heal. Burns make you feel like you're watching permanent disfigurement.

He was great in brotherhood. They did not hold back from showing his burn victims.

Rock is the best element
