What did you think of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children when you first saw it? What do you think of it now?

Hated it. The story was garbage, seeing the characters go from anime style to looking like J-Pop idols was jarring, and the action had this weird, weightless feel to it, like watching a child endlessly banging action figures against one another -- I guess if you find that charming that's cool, but that's not what I had imagined fights in Final Fantasy would be like.

I haven't revisited it since release and feel no inclination to.

It looked like a nice tech demo. The story is absolute garbage and all the characters from the original FFVII were ruined. It’s seriously a miserable experience to watch. I don’t know hiw anyone but an edgy emo kid could like what they did to Cloud. I don't know about Advent Children, but in the Remake it's mostly Cloud, though. Aerith and Tifa look great. Barret looks perfect. Rude and Reno are on point. Zack does look a bit jpopish, but nowhere nearly as bad as Cloud.
Sephiroth and Rufus looked great.

As a kid, it was the coolest thing ever, particularly the One-Winged Angel metal remix.
Now I think it's a boring slog, an unnecessary sequel that ruined the game's ambiguous ending, and opened the door for the Compilation and all its retarded retcons.
The remake probably wouldn't be as retarded were it not for AC.

I thought it looked cool despite not having played the game before. Looks were pretty much the only thing it had going for it.

It probably strikes a balance between what fujos like and what edgy teen boys like. It's a shame to see, though, because Cloud wasn't like that at all in the game

Honestly the designs and character writing are insanely faithful in the remake. It's the small slice of the story and the alt universe plot that make the actual story such a pain.

2004 was pretty cringe but looked good. 2009 is actually good though. I've rewatched it many times. Probably the best 3d action that humanity will ever create

It was okayish. I rewatched it a few months ago, and my opinion didn't change, the animation is nice, but it drags at times or is downright boring often.

ff7 remake had a terrible storyline, but I would be a liar if I said this wasn't the most fun I had from a jrpg in a long time. Why can't more turn base rpg adopt this battle system

The action scenes were good. That's all it needs.

Disliked the wimpified J-pop looking Cloud. Tifa was hot. The other characters were goofy. The story had rubbish pacing but I enjoyed the final fight with sephiroth and the re-made 'one winged angel' soundtrack. Now I think it's a mediocre CG film where Square-Enix was just flexing it's technology muscles knowing fanboys would cream themselves and watch it anyway.

And after all the years, it still looks good today.
It has the right bittersweetness of Aerith with respect to Cloud getting on with his life.

Think the writer for the movie said in an interview that he wanted to have Cloud in the middle of his identity struggle as we knew in FFVII back in AC, even though he got out of that funk by the end of it.

The animation is ok but the story is just pure autism.

I think people have given some reasons here in this very thread. A lot of it to me has to do with regressive characterization or just lack there of from the old cast. Cloud is now an emofag and weak, Tifa is now sad and weak, rest of the cast only shows up to fight Bahamut. Also too much time is focused on the kids. FFVII pretty much tied up everything pretty neatly, the meteor was stoppedy by holy and Jenova/Sephiroth was destroyed, so there wasn't really anywhere to take the story without introducing something very contrived, which is exactly what the Jenova aids is.
