Is this a bad thing?

Well they have a bad reputation for their often sub par animation. Eternal overall was not that bad but still had very ugly looking moments

They changed the director, it won't be Chiaki Kon but Tomoya Takahashi. Never heard of him

Hopefully they leave the franchise alone after that

Well..Kotonl Mitsuishi said during the live that the recording of the first part was already completed for a reason that "can not be disclosed". It means probably nothing but with how "fast" they are realasing the final part of Crystal, I am starting to think that they want to end it soon to make place for a new anime project

looks like togashi needs money

>Is this a bad thing?
They did DEEN/SN, Umineko and LH past S1.

What else would even be there to adapt after this?

Maybe doing Sailor Moon SUPER or something (yeah, i know SuperS is a thing, try to come up with a better name for a new season DBS meme)?

Personally thats what they should do, an original season after the anime series. That or a videogame.

Good point. People would at least remember it that way. It's weird enough that the magical girl genre is dead in general save for Precure nowadays.

I can imagine tho, Toei could take this chance to crossover Sailor Moon and the current Precure season, possibly next year, which coincidence of all coincidence! Its gonna be Precure's 20th anniversary.

>magical girl genre is dead in general save for Precure nowadays.
bitches dont know about madoka.

Magi Reco is a giga flop

PMMM is a good series, but at its core, its not a regular Magical Girl series. Its a drama with tints of a MG show. Not to mention we just got BadendingReco. And the glory that was NEODOROTHY MOTHERFUCKER!

Anyone can make drama with magical girls, but outside precure and maybe that new tokyomewmew, theres not many shows that are just pure, simple, MG fun.

>videogame
You mean gacha because that is what everyone else is doing these days

Madoka was 11 years ago and Reco is just a shitty spin-off from a gacha based on that decade-old anime.
And yes I know there was Magical Girl Site too and Raising Project at some point within the last 10 years but I would still call the genre pretty dead regardless. The few MG series we get differ as much from the classical version of the genre as modern game-mechanic isekai differ from classical isekai like Now and Then or Rayearth. Plus, they are single seasonal stuff, nothing long-running.

They already did that with Sailor Moon Drops.

Tho, maybe a pseudo RPG like granblue or that Saint Seiya one could work.

First uy now this, why do nips hate me so much.

So all traces of the original series just vanished from the internet like that, then?... Idiot.

If you really want to complain about new remakes, do it the day they do announce they will remove the old versions from existence, okay?

And yes,i know about the sonic origins fiasco and the GTA Trilogy crap, but those are videogames, not anime.

Kek time really is a circle. It's the same weak arguments I read a thousand times, if you want a serious answer take a trip down desuarchiv, I for one will get me a nice bottle of vodka and pretend I didn't open Yea Forums today.

Gatchaman Crowds, apprently.
Gonna have to be honest, not really feeling this at all.

I know about the real madoka.

The original season was nice, its Insight the one that felt bad.

>didn't complain about the shitty later OVAS
>didn't complain about the shitty sixth movie
>didn't complain about the shitty pachi machines with new animation
>didn't complain about the 2008 OVA
>"NOOOOO YOU CANT MAKE A NEW ANIME WITH GOOD TALENT AND HIGH PRODUCTION VALUES WHERE ITS SET IN THE MODERN DAY"
Fucking neck yourself kid.

you got all that from the one sentence he wrote... i am impressed

>I can imagine tho, Toei could take this chance to crossover Sailor Moon and the current Precure season, possibly next year, which coincidence of all coincidence! Its gonna be Precure's 20th anniversary.

Would the manga-ka allow that? I heard she can be very VERY anal about how her properties are handled

Unironically waiting for this because Toei butchered the Stars arc.

No, from everything I've heard she's a lazy moneygrubbing bitch. Like respect for what she actually created, but the more I learn about her the more unpleasant she sounds.

Wasn't Takeuchi's dad a yakuza? That would explain a lot

I would like to hear the story

It should have been a series in the first place, the movie format will make the pace too fast and condensated(same think that made Eternal suck overall).

Despie disliking Eternal, I will admit that trailer kinda hyped me(Stars is my favourite arc in the manga and like you said it was butchered hard by Toei in the 90'). Wondering if we will get a new version of Sailor Stat Song(one of the few good things from 90'sStars)

She made fun of Togashi's micropenis so she is based

Something happened to Takeuchi since Eternal, she became extremely controlling of the franchise(for example the international dubs had to keep onorifics because she ordered it). Apparently according to some international manga editors she was a pain in the ass to work with too

I dunno. Apparently she's always been rich and so are the actual Sailor Moon characters if you know enough about Japan to pick up on context clues about where they live, what they're spending, etc. (might be obvious but I didn't know it at first), particularly in the manga.

Can't comment on yakuza stuff specifically.

Some of this is taking into account gaijin perspectives on things so fair warning:
>takes forever to sign contracts etc., leaving various countries who wanted to put out new releases of Sailor Moon in legal limbo for years. apparently this was especially bad in terms of Brazil and maybe some other South American countries
>locked up rights to Sailor Moon for like 10 years, maybe from like 2001-2011/2014-ish or so, apparently as she bought greater control over the anime? Meaning that various countries and I think maybe even Japan didn't get anything besides, like, musicals and PGSM and the anime couldn't be aired in any form worldwide
>apparently collects cars as a hobby. Not that there's anything wrong with that I guess, but among some fan circles there's kind of a meme that "guess Takeuchi was too lazy to do X thing she promised because she was buying a new Ferrari instead instead" etc.
>has gotten really anal about all countries having to use honorifics and characters' original names in dubs. The latter is pretty understandable but the former is kind of awkward. Her being so anal about dubs also means that other countries' dubbing gets held up, like some Spanish-speaking country (Mexico? Spain? idk) had to use only their dub of the first ending theme for the whole series or at least the first season, because that was the only one she was satisfied with despite the fact they'd dubbed the second as well
>keeps saying colored manga editions and new artbook prints + new artbooks will be released, never does that (even in Japan
>I'm not done)

>forces English-speaking countries to use the original writer's shit English translation of Moonlight Densetsu even in the English dub, which has some garbage like "gomen ne" and "shinjite iru no" being supposedly "untranslatable" and thus left the same, the already-English "miracle romance" translated as "this is the miracle of romance," which is totally different and sounds awkward. Song sounds like garbage as a result in English and actually appears a few times in that form in the new dub (should be somewhere in here nicovideo.jp/watch/sm31726571)
>"Guardian" is a dumb translation of "senshi" and it's a shame only English speakers have to deal with this. Like in the series' own original language the characters still get called "Sailor warriors"/"Sailor soldiers" (senshi), but now any new English dub/manga release until the end of time gets a really clunky/unappealing sounding phrase that kinda ruins the mystique the series name used to have with "Pretty Soldier"
>idk if it was her idea to make the changes in the first season of Crystal, but if it was, that's kinda bad and should maybe be acknowledged
>IDK if this one's her or Viz, but someone's being shady somewhere. People at Viz have recently said she's "immensely dissatisfied" with the original English dub and doesn't want it to be released in any form ever. It's not clear if this is true due to her not doing any interviews recently or commenting it on since like the '90s (when all she really said was that she thought Usagi's voice was too deep and she liked the British Luna), or if it's Viz saying that so they can exclusively sell their product despite having the rights to both dubs, when there'd be a pretty big casual/nostalgic market that would be willing to buy both. Here's where it gets shady:

tbc...

Still missing Fujishima's humongous cock?

Like with every SM arc out there, this movie will release and prove to be inferior to Toei's classic again.

Nobody cares about Crystal anymore. Everyone remembers 90s SM.

What did you dislike about the Eternal movies if you don't mind me asking? I've currently watching Crystal season 3.

*I'm*

>Supposedly Takeuchi completely forbade anyone who was ever involved in the old dub to audition for the new dub (which wouldn't have been likely anyway since they were in Canada and the redub used US actors), even though for the DiC seasons specifically it wasn't really most voices that people had a problem with but stuff like censorship/overlocalization. Also the redub uses VAs who have participated in similarly censored dubs like Pokemon, so if it's Viz trying to virtue signal by doing that, it's kind of hypocritical
>aapparently Viz (or Takeuchi?) has a policy for them to not even mention the original dub at cons, interact with voice actors from it if they're there, etc. They've put out misleading tweets like "this English anime VA voiced [whoever] in '90s Sailor Moon!" leaving out that it was from the redub, and between that and Toei scrubbing Sailor Moon videos from the internet, basically try to make it look like the new redub is the only English version that has ever existed
>If it's Takeuchi doing this, it feels shitty for westerners because, no matter its quality, the original English dub was a huge deal in terms of helping anime's rise in English-speaking countries and building up that side of the fandom even today. It's kind of historically important both for that AND even in terms of displaying the censorship practices for anime in the '90s/early 2000s (could be seen as "hey can you believe they once had to do this to get it to air? this is how different media was back then" etc.) If it's just Viz doing this, it's shitty for fans and Takeuchi because it's essentially cutting off fans from something there's an actual demand for AND putting words in the creator's mouth (look at how much DVDs etc. of the original English dub regularly go for, how many comments Viz gets asking if they'll ever put out the DiC dub, the negative reviews left by casuals on Viz dub stuff because it wasn't the version they expected, etc.)

The pace(especially in the first part) js too fast and does not give time to the characters to have a meaningful development(and role to the villains we never hear the Quartet's members name once for example because there is no time to do so) and to the audience to get interested into the plot. The second part has a better pace, but the animation drops in quality HARD.

Eh that's about it for now. TL;DR she's lazy in terms of doing stuff with her product despite having a lot of control over it, particularly in terms of other countries, and is allegedly difficult to work with/takes a long time to get back to people/forgets about contracts/etc. Also think I forgot to mention:
>regularly ignores countries that want to put out Sailor Moon stuff if she thinks she won't get enough money from them, despite the obscene amount of money she clearly already has

Also I'm not some obsessive dub fan. I watched in Japanese first and think the anime is best watched in its original language and I even have been trying to read the manga in Japanese too. I just think the Viz dub isn't so great and I think the treatment of longtime fans by attempting to wipe the first dub from history feels kind of shitty. I think it has its own charm and is worth preserving as at least a historical curiosity or for completion's sake.

I'm seriously considering making my only bootleg DiC/Cloverway DVDs to get in on some of that sweet, sweet, Sailor Moon money myself, because clearly no one official is willing to do it.

Sailor Moon is just fit for the episodic format and not movies. The 2deep4u plot isn't what most of the audience cares about. And sadly the movies are 80% that.

Holy shit did you keep a freaking pasta

I did heard that the manga ending was quite depressing. So im not sure if this will be a good idea anyway.

Nah man, I wrote this LIVE

Attached: v.gif (400x300, 115.01K)

Well, I would say "bittersweet" more than depressing. At least it was a worthy ending unlike the one we got in the original anime

I couldn't even tell that they all freaking died and everything after is a dream at the end of the world

Holy shit user, thanks a lot for the effort
SM localization was hard in my country too but I didn't think much about it

Probably Takeuchi herself knows for sure

^^ does not know

I don't know. Stars sets the bar really low and Japan has been pretending the 90s anime ended with SuperS for the last 25 years

This. Manga Stars is far from perfect but to say that a faithful animated version of it will be worse than the 90's one is absurd(unless it comes from a Seiya/Usagi or Starlights fan)

>best girl will finally get a proper adaptation of best arc
Galaxia chads eating well tonight.

>Japan has been pretending the 90s anime ended with SuperS for the last 25 years
Jesus Christ.

Aside from the audition, Guardian, and lyrics thing, these don't sound that bad to me. I'd be really upset too if my story was edited that heavily, while it sounds petty I understand wanting to snuff it out. The old dubs have their charms but from a creator's perspective it would be difficult to watch (she also had her reservations about the 90's anime in general, saying it was "from a male perspective" - she may have a point as the 90s anime does tack on so much bickering that wasn't there before).
>Crystal
As far as I know the shitty changes that weren't even accurate to the manga in Crystal were the director's fault. I recall an interview where he literally said he thought giving the other inner senshi love interests was the only way to flesh them out. Fucking stupid.

Can I at least have a Codename Sailor V anime adaptation after Cosmos?
