Roll call

Roll call.

Who’s watching Pompo The Cinephile tonight?

Watching tomorrow

It's not Pompo anymore it's Dunk!

Looks like generic anime movie

I fucking want to but I'm not going 30 miles when my local theater has had every other anime movie of the year BESIDES Pompo

I already watched it at home. It was good but not good enough to pay to watch it again.

>30 miles
bro, that’s nothing

Why Japanese are so obsessed with this "being a genius in a theme" concept? Everyone fucks it up at some point regardless of how good you are. This could be a far better commentary if the film Pompo has produced turned out as a disaster.

>thirty miles
thats an afternoon walk at most

Japanese still aren't that subtle enough to add irony in their works.

Just got back.

Because then it wouldn’t be an uplifting comedy. It’s commentary on how moviemaking “should” be, without having to deal with union lawsuits, culture war corporate interests, and casting couch executives. Just people working together to follow their dreams and make something amazing.

Wimp.

The furthest I ever drove to see a movie was 240 miles. Not something I'd want to do every week, but I like driving.

What was the movie?

Just came back from watching it. I had a lot of fun. It's a lot like "Shirobako: the Movie", except it has a stronger narrative. The characters carried the movie. Pompo made the film feel surreal. She appears to be a little girl, but she knows everything about the movie industry and no one talks about her age. I really loved her confidence.

A GKids movie named "This Magnificent Cake". Actually, the movie was 48 minutes long, and so the screening included a couple of short films the makers also did. Very strange movie that felt totally broken from reality.

fuck. I completely forgot about this and I'm on call this week as well, so I can't see the dub tomorrow (not that I will anyway). I guess I'll just wait for the torrent then

Like the grandfather said, lots of good butts.

of both Natalie and Mystia. None of Pompo herself, though.

sex

I admit that in the many scenes where someone gave a pep talk about seeing yourself in the movie and inspiring the audience, I wondered, "Do the people who make MCU movies ever think like this?"

>sex

Gene's movie should've had a sex scene between the old man and the girl. That was the missing scene Gene needed to make.

It's secretly a groundhog's day plot movie

My favorite part about this movie was that it was ninety minutes

its been out on the seas for a while
gkids couldnt screen it before it came out on disc in japan

based Yea Forumsnnoisseur
I don’t think I’d drive 240 miles for a movie unless I was invited to a film premiere or something, certainly not for a stop-motion Kirby’s Imperialist Yarn ,film the length of two tv episodes, but you have my absolute respect.

>My favorite part about this movie was that it was ninety minutes

I looked at my watch. It was true.

And you have my respect for already knowing about that movie.

Latter half of the movie was a bit boring but it was still pretty fun.

Gene fucking sucks, more of the movie should have been Pompo being cute and cool

cute

the B plot with Alan was a little flat and unrealistic but overall the movie was unbelievable, one of the greats. Almost entirely carried by how strong the screenplay is, I didn't know anime films could be this good.

A good portion of the film were close ups of his baggy eyes and him smashing the delete button like a pixiv artist.

Pompo is my daughterwife.

It was cute, though its a film for Pompo rather than a movie about her.
I liked Mystia and her tight abs.

kk only 90 mins and ppl saying it is pretty good
guess Im getting my lazy ass and watching it tmrw

Caught the sub tonight debating on seeing the dub while I am on the road tomorrow. Also I am surprised juju is still in the theater and will be locally until May 5th.

is juju worth seeing
I havent watched the series.

Yes. You don't need to read anything since it is a Rika/Yuta movie.

I didn't realize this was playing all week in Boston.

Was pretty good. I feel just like Gene except instead of being a passionate movie director I just watch anime alone

Bro, we're all Gene. The problem is there's no Pompo in our life.
>tfw no Pompo wife

BUILT for American audiences

This movie was god tier, way better than Evangelion last movie.

The one black guy on the set with the giant lips.

all I see is low framerate animation.

He was a bro.

He really was. Totally doing his best and helping out.

watched it, bretty good, as usual for anime movies at the theater the movie ran late like 40 minutes because of "technical issues" at least I got a free movie out of it

more like there's no people in my life

delete

thanks

It's a fantastic movie. I watched it awhile ago at AnimeNYCbut I was unable to go to the screening tonight because of college work. It's a shame since it doesn't seem like much people are going to see it
Hope people enjoyed it as much as I did

Ohtsuka hamming it up as Martin made me want Meister to be a real movie so badly. The absolute best-done fake movie when you make the audience want to watch it.
