I don't see this, Fuji shtick is adding naturalism and comedy to dark and surrealistic scenarious, this is simply dark and surreal. Lobster and Killing of Sacred Deer is also nothing like the Fuji's stuff.

I would say in Lobster comedy and seriousness is almost indistinguishable in whole atmosphere, while Fuji usually have a particular comedy timing. Mixing them is also very arbitrary quality, in general Lanthimos loves surrealistic effect, he doesn't care about naturalness of dialogue like Fuji, he doesn't force absurd comedy to disrupt the narrative and he doesn't have a knack for absurd happy ends like Fuji does, I also don't remember him being obsessed with media. All in all, he wouldn't come to mind for me as director analogy for Fuji.

it's kind of used in Dogtooth in a similar way to Fire Punch, one of the girls in the film starts learning about the outside world from a Rocky film tape she hides from their parents, and her identity is formed through that film, it really reminded me of Behemdolg's use of films in FP.
I guess the dialogue in Fuji's stuff isn't as vague, but it still has that otherworldly feel to it, especially when it's some schizo character talking
