They are less on the nose, more subtle I'd say, about realtionships and emotion portrayal.
Male mangaka (most of shounen at least) are very exaggerated in their portrayal of emotions like mourning, anger or attraction, therefore they lack in depth as they appear too simplicistic in the long run.

The male characters are sexualized in a way that a man would never draw inherently.
For Ranma it's Ryoga surprisingly (Ranma's gender bending is actually fairy tame and could be drawn by a guy too. But Ryoga...that was obviously a female take).
In FMA it's stuff like Armstrong.
In Inuyasha it's Sesshomaru.

In yuri series, you can tell by how exactly the whole sexual thing happens. If the focus is on the emotional overwhelming, it's drawn by a female. If the focus is on explosive chemical lust (women have problem understanding this concept), it's by a guy.
But with newer mamgas female authors seem to have learnt how to incorporate the whole chemical lust element so now it's kinda hard to distinguish.
