There's actually a good number of ways this could go and the flash forwards just make me more curious of how things turn out the way they do. Hopefully they don't just retcon them

My guess is these chapters are going to represent a pretty dramatic shift in Ruby's character and so Aka wanted to take care of everything that might have warranted "innocent" Ruby being around before moving on.

Looking at and it seems Aka is going to tie this plot point into Ruby's current lack of success as an idol, and how this while result in a change of character that fuels the group's growth

I think it will be interesting to see how her sudden shift from trying to be like Ai into edgy Ruby will impact B Komachi's image, and then again later down the line once she snaps out of her funk and finally finds an image of her own.
