GC is actually my guilty pleasure, definitely used to be my #1 when I was younger and less knowledgeable about anime. Objectively it has many flaws and obviously pandering to the sad and lonely young teenager's fantasy of getting his own personal waifu but I think to be fair they did a lot of cool stuff too. I really do think it had a lot of soul and I will always defend that fact. The first time I saw it will always feel very special to me. Especially the epilogue where Shoe rests at the park bench, that was kino.
