I really dislike the manga loving characters in series. I can deal with like with otaku in series and stuff, but the ones that are there to constantly make references suck.

Yeah, he barely managed to scratch Hakari while the latter was fighting with his hands in his pockets. It's an ability that only helps make an existing advantage in a fight larger.

I'm curious to see how this fight came about, as it seems we're still missing some puzzle pieces. Last chapter, is seemed like Hakari needed to goad or motivate Mangaka-kun into the fight and this chapter, he seemed like he's not taking the fight entirely seriously, as if this weren't a death match. Could be a character shortcoming, but could also be some kind of recruitment or scouting gig, depending on the circumstances. Was it mentioned whether this current fight takes place within a colony already?

How is Gege so good at paneling fights? He's the only mangaka that stands up to animated action. It's insane

I read most of them except that. D Gray Man for example has horribly paneled fights. I don't like OP's fights unless animated really well - it's rare - too.

Most of them have good fights but it's not for the choreography. Gege is REALLY dynamic.

The first half 坐殺 could be from 田父は坐殺すべし 'peasants die just by seating them and making them comfortable'. I think the explanation for that expression was that farmers were used to working hard so just by giving them luxury, they'll get sick and die because they're not used to it.
So Hakari's DE can be very roughly be interpreted as something like a gambler that died from getting too comfortable. An interpretation of it is that Hakari himself no longer feels the thrill of gambling (got comfortable) from always winning gambles or something else and his DE's name reflected that.

OP's fights are just a mix of big named attacks with exposition thrown in, not very exciting. so far gege is able to articulate a fight better than most of the other mangaka in jump other than suzuki.

the the wider scope of shonen tho, i don't think gege stands out as much as other mangaka when it comes to fights )although i do like the level of violence he uses)

Sakamoto Days has really good action as well, I think it's the only one currently running in WSJ that's on the same level as Gege.

shibuya was cool but it didn't do anything special or interesting for shonen in general. arcs like that have been done before in the same way, hitting the same beats with the same tropes.

if you think jjk is peak shonen then you should probably read more shonen. it's not bad by any means, but it's extremely overrated.
