CSM is one of my favorite manga but I kind of feel scammed by Fujimoto. The story and ending you end up with is completely different than the one you think you're going to get.

i'd say that the plot still revolves around the pooch. Though less prominent as a character, Poochita is the only one who is "special", or "the chosen one". There are other Devils very similar to Makima. Puppet is just as controlling as her. Gun is almost as strong as her. Darkness is stronger. But there is no devil like Chainsaw, because he is the only being that can erase concepts. Makima may be the brightest planet; but she is orbiting Poochita, not the other way around. Hopefully, the anime properly utilizes Poochita in commercial bumpers and credits, to emphasize his importance.

I think he means the mc's personal story revolving around her and her incarnations, not the overarching plot.

The connection between a dog and its master is not something you often see in manga. It only really shows up in really old adventure stories written by people who actually grew up in the wilderness.
