Thoughts on Toriko (manga)?

Try not to talk only about the ending since we all know it was rushed into mediocracy

it was maybe the last title from WSJ that I really enjoyed
every fight with tommy was gold

literally

that was so good
on a personal and emotional level that fight didn't have a lot going on, but it was just a celebration of the things that made Toriko so enjoyable, a lot of violence and creativity
I was a huge tommyfag but I didn't even care, that was a impactful exit for him
The story wasn't great, the characters weren't necessarily the most developed and three-dimensional, but it was a nice throwback to a simpler time
Komatsu was terrible

Honestly one of my favorite manga. Shame the anime lead it to being axed. A space arc would have been fun and the ending wasn't even too bad despite it being rushed. He managed to make it in such a way that, even though it was rushed, it still felt like a natural conclusion. I go back and reread it every few years because it's just that good.

It was kino in the finale, minus the rushing to get there. Anybody got the "big fucking deal" page when Midora punches the final boss? I can only find official scans now.

gay shit

We know you are.

No, just reaction panel.

What a lad.

Great adventure manga killed because Komatsu was too ugly and because of no females

truly a lgbt supportive manga that doesn't shove that factor in your face

Peaked with the century soup

>Try not to talk only about the ending since we all know it was rushed into mediocracy
The fuck? Toriko's ending was good.

ok to be honest i probably exagerated with that mediocre part. I thought more people found the ending mediocre, but im glad i was wrong, it is honestly a satisfactory ending, even though it opens the oppurtunity for a sequel (that will never happen) it still left me happy to see that toriko and everyone else's efforts to defeat neo and make a better world safe from its wrath ended up giving fruit. But yeah my bad mediocre was not the best word

It giid

It was less that the ending was mediocre than it was just a little rushed and some factors we expected to be more important got glossed over or did minimal during the finale like some of the 8 kings. The fights were bombastic and the resolution of the plot and characters were good.

The end wasn't rushed. The last beasts were repeats from the first half.

the irony is over there! It ran past you and you didn't notice

yes

one of the best Jump manga from the past 20 years, by a long shot.

Fun as hell and amazing action. Takeshi is also really damn good as well, if not better.

most of the best manga I have seen tend to be sausage parties so I don't see how that's a problem. If I want to see chicks I look at porn.

I will never understand why Shima dropped the ball so hard with Build King

I wish most axed mangas rushed the middle part instead of the ending like Toriko did

I really enjoyed it
Shame it got overhyped back in the day
I distinctly remember ads for it on fucking everything
It even got top billing in J-Stars
Tried the anime (big mistake) and fucking hated it

About two years ago I heard the rumblings that it would go OOP and decided to pick it up for super cheap and give it one final shot.

Very nice generic shonen, all the ingredients for a solid, fun time.
It had the same adventurous vibe as early One Piece, and a creative gimmick in the food world.
Ended up pacing myself and taking about 8 months or so to read it.
It became a relaxing ritual

I guess you could say
It was like comfort food

Don't EVER forget what they took from you. Fuck you shueisha

Still better than Shokugeki aside the last arc

>We
you and your boyfriend?

>Walk in
>Tongue the shit out of mother fuckers
>Refuse to Elaborate
>Leave

I love Toriko so much bros. I have own every volume of the manga and I like looking at them on my shelf.

Timeskip sucks but I don't remember hating the ending. The marriage end was based

Build king was better

If good why cancelled?

What are you talking about? The ending was amazing. Every week a new over the top shit was happening

Tried to read it years ago but found it awfully boring

Wrong demographic. BK is seinen materiel

Trips of truth!
With digits like that we’re bound to have a complete anime soon!

It starts off really slow but slowly picks up later on. Certain characters will also make drive you away but eventually you start to hate them a lot less. The century soup arc is usually what gets people hooked. I'd give it another chance if you haven't made it that far. I know I was the same and wanted to drop it too(mostly because I saw the anime first).

You think they'll let Shima finish Earth, Atom, and News arcs in the future or have other mangaka do gaidens? It's a damn shame we see the rest of the four kings job in the end.

Yeah, the ending was amazing. The problem was the rush to get there, and all the shit that was cut and happened offscreen

The last arc was fine, its a shame some stuff was skipped over but jiro shitting on the nitros and planet busting shit every page was great.

I thought it was alright, albeit rushed into a tournament arc.

>has to project his gayness
lmao you gay

He did it all for his mom.

Midora was too OP, i have no idea how he didnt beat ACacia, he could have stomped jirou, joie and the 8 kings al by himself by the end of the series.

Wasn't the mangaka caught with cp?

acacia can eat plot armor

We will get our perfect anime someday.

no u

either madhouse or ufotable should do it, and i hope that adaptation overshadows the toei shitshow so bad it turns into lost media

You mean Pair

Reminder that the chefs are all based on the japanese iron chef show. Toriko was the last good shonen.

It was a prostitute that said she was older then she was iirc, I think that's why his other long running manga got canceled.

Toriko felt rushed once the 2 year timeskip happened, monkey arc into immediately whale king and everyone fucking off to meet the other kings compared to the wolf and monkey king at least having fights and somewhat long arcs, but again even monkey king felt rushed.

Wonder if the editor told him to finish that far back cause whale king/another felt rushed and somewhat convoluted
this manga had great moments too even outside of the fights or massive power level jumps

because he ate the full course while the other disciples didn't

Was this a good character design?

Attached: BambinaHides.png (626x759, 253.27K)

my favorite one tbqh

Even before he was stronger
>hungry space
>copy neurons
>minority world
>gourmet luck
He was even beating NeoAcacia when Neo aloen stomped the 8 kings and Jirou lost to Acacia alone. Even ignoring the fact that he ate the fullcourse his abilities were way too op

Meant for

Why are adventure anime like this or hxh or OP no longer popular in jump? Why must all be set in the real world or an extremely similar version of it?

Appeal the lowest common denominator. OP is still popular but shit.

One of my favorite endings of any manga I've ever read. Almost every manga I've ever loved had a weak or terrible ending but Toriko's being so good is one of the reasons it endures as one of my all-time favorite manga while the rest are all a little less impressive in my memory.
