Also dropped the novels too after Maruyama said he lost interest in his own story. Meanwhile, Takehaya is pumping out volumes from Rokujouma since 2009 at a rate of around 3 per year and still going strong.

I mean he's just pumping out average quality volumes. What's his sales per volume status? Overlord's world is more complex than that and Maruyama likes to retain quality, that's why every volume sells a lot. There's also factors like Maruyama having a main job + wife(kid?) so it definitely can get tiring.

No, it reached around 200k sales per new LN volume (which to be fair IS the highest in terms of purely physical LN sales among isekai) before falling off the cut-off point of the Oricon rankings. But in total circulation it only shares 2nd/3rd place together with Re:Zero at 11 million copies because the latter kept releasing new volumes while Overlord didn't. Meanwhile Slime stands uncontested at 30 million because of combined LN+manga sales. Overlord ruined its own manga sales because the anime overtook it and so people tended to resort to either anime or LN instead, thereby sabotaging its own franchise, which is why now many isekai anime committees are much more careful about how far the respective anime can go, since manga sales figures tend to be higher than LN sales figures in most cases.
