Fun thing is that Maria trains a lot and is actually a pretty accomplished fighter who gets to show a surprising move here and there. She actually seems to be a better fighter as a normal girl than as a Symphogear user. My take is that she simply doesn't have the heart of a fighter. She's super skilled in lots of stuff and would easily achieve success livingn a normal life. But she choose to fight to protect people regardless. She's a very kind person.

By her own admissions all she's good for is to do swordfighting. Not her fault she ends up facing stuff that puts swords at a disadvantage.

Then maybe she should learn something else, the other characters might be good at swordfighting/fighting with a weapon and other things on top of that like shooting, going fast, dropping nukes, binding their opponents. Maybe Agito can save her from being powercrept.

To be fair Signum has never straight up lost a fair sword duel. She's likely the best swordfighter in the show without haxx. Agito does give her a lot more flexibility, though.

Fate will give her a good fight but stuff non related to swordplay will be surely involved. Zest isn't a sword user. Cypha won their first fight because of haxx but was humbled by Signum's expert swordplay before that.
