Pretty much everyone was already expecting Go Rush!! to be set many many years into the future. But this bit of new information really changes the initial perception we had. and it also explains why Manabu had no clue about the twins. If so many years have passed then it makes sense for the family of the main cast to lose contact over the years I'm going for 100 or more years. At least for now, but i don't see the possibility of an AU as of now.

That said, YGO has always been a franchise mostly focused on teenagers.
