Previous: Evelyn was going to have to miss the upcoming lesson with Abby as her parents, still in London to see her in the Nutcracker, wanted to take her out to dinner. Evelyn invited the others to tag along but they demured with Kanade not wanting to miss the lesson and Rebecca feeling like they'd just be intruding on family time. That made Evelyn wonder about Kanade's relationship with her parents since she never really talks about them.
In Stuttgart, Ema was practicing and her classmates noted to themselves how she doesn't seem to train as much as the others though she's the one everyone looks at during lessons. Ema noted to herself that since breaking her foot a few years prior, her right leg is actually slightly shorter than her left and that as a result she's been putting too much pressure on it and has to make the best use of the practice she does get and not overwork it. She received a call from Kanade who was still anxious about setting things up with her parents to talk to Oliver about financial aid. Ema told her that her grandfather had actually sold part of his land to pay for her tuition which didn't help to ease Kanade's mind. Even a call from her dad still left her feeling nervous.
She was still distracted during her lesson with Abby and Abby invited her to attend an exhibition with her. Abby showed her the painting Diana and Actaeon by Titian and explainedits history and relation to ballet, amazing Kanade at the fact that ballet could have that kind of connection to ancient history. Abby also detailed a bit of her own history in her desire to join the Royal Ballet but being unable to and having to "detour" through Toulouse instead. Given that a dancer's career is short and peaks early, Abby said that she wants to help Kanade avoid going down the same path.
Who has a longer career? Ballet dancers or gymnasts? I feel like gymnasts burn out more quickly than ballet dancers, at least it feels like gymnasts and ice skaters retire much more earlier than ballet dancers.

Dancers by far. You can still find plenty who are in their 30s or even into their 40s (though rarer) still doing it. Gymnasts are usually done by their mid-20s. There also doesn't really seem to be much you can do as a "professional" gymnast beyond coach or probably go into some kind of other physical career where gymnastics training will help like stunt work or pro wrestling or something. Whereas there's far more opportunities for dancers to find work.

Thanks OP. Another great volume down. I guess Abby's motivation to move Kanade as quickly as possible makes sense since Abby's detour wasted the precious little time she had.
