I missed the thread yesterday so I'll do my initial spiel.

It's a different timeline from the 4~6 we see in Negima. Being a different timeline differences are expected, even if you hate them, tis the nature of a multiverse.

Those foaming at the mouth over treatment of Negima characters, I can sort of understand both sides, you're mad at how beloved characters are used, and I do think that Ken wanted a semi-fresh start. He wanted to deal with immortality and the fallout of the plans laid by Negi, but he wanted to do it mostly with a different cast, away from the 'forced' harem romcom. Yeah he kind of fails with a less fun set of characters but it's him trying to do what /he/ wanted. On some level it was inevitable that he would need to incorporate Negima characters given many would still be alive and others would (or should) have been involved in legacy events (some of the girls should have gone on to become famous/well known for various activities). If he wanted to avoid using Negima character he'd need to have gone WAAAY further into the future.
