Isn't this becoming more popular? I know US TV shows started this, because of fear of "confusing" viewers who are either dumb, or simply didn't watch any of the past episodes. They usually spend at least 1 minute of runtime at the beginning of every episode to show short clips from previous episodes.

Hopefully, it will not become a standard in anime, where runtime is valuable. Wasting the 20 minutes that an episode can show (that's without counting OP and ED and preview) by having the first three minutes explaining what just happened in the prior episode just reduces the amount of watchable content.

What? Ep2 has the same pacing as any ep of S1. There was enough time left for a 1 minute recap and a completely new anime original scene.
I understand the complains of ep1 since it adapted 3 chapters instead of the usual 2, but I don't see the issue with this one. Also by nature Machikado is feaster than standard Sol since it actually has a plot.

The thing I found odd is that the episode had three things that were suited for a pre-OP part: the rapid gags at the beginning, the recap and the Anri/Ogura anime original part. It felt like they were competing for the same spot in the episode, so two of them felt kinda random.
Maybe the anime original part would've been better right after the eyecatch instead of randomly being in between story parts.
