He actually feels like a real human being
he came first, if it had been the other way around, L would have been the derivative copy
This, and the fact that he isn't some snotty kid.
this desu, L is someone you can actually root for (even if you support Light) whereas Near is someone you want to see fail
His dynamic with Light and Kira. He was waging an ideological battle while trying to apprehend Light, which was way more interesting than "Well this guy killed L, we better race to see who can catch him first".
Neither him or Light feel like humans. They are geniuses, almost gods
This
Near was such a fucking cunt, that entire second half of death note made me kinda mad.
Why didn't he just have the balls to end the manga after 'L' died? If he felts so bad about having the "bad guy" win, then shouldn't have killed L. It's like he wanted to be edgy and have the good guy die, but decided to not stick with his guns and made everything worse because of it.
The first time I saw near I hated him
Why is L allowed to sacrifice and kill criminals (Lind L Taylor) and when Light does it, it's bad???
All of L's throwaways were death row inmates. They had already been condemned to death by the legal system.
>inb4
You might not like the legal system but it's better that death sentences be decided by an actual system including a jury of one's peers instead of one guy.
>All of L's throwaways were death row inmates.
Kira was good too because he prevented more crime. Kiras first victim was a shooter who killed 6 kids. He prevented more death and crime by killing the shooter while he was active
Post proof
Because light is not the "democratically" "elected" government.
He actually was though. Pic related. Most people in the whole world accepted and liked Kira
NPCs will root for whoever they see as being in power. As soon as Light gets caught suddenly these worshippers disappear.
>All those people I saw at anime conventions in the late 2000's cosplaying L
>They were all ugly as fuck and obese
>"Haha look at me in my long sleeve white shirt and blue jeans! I'm L!"
You were L if L weighed 300 lbs and was ugly.
The final page of the manga shows a large group of cultists or worshippers praying/having a candlelight vigil for Kira and thanking him. They literally saw Light/Kira as their god.
After death
Near felt like a shitty copy of L.
Japan has a 99% conviction rate, so even if Light only killed convicts, there'd be a decent amount of innocents.
what happens as soon as people see Kira's punishment has ceased? sure the cults probably went on for a bit after Light's death but at some point they'll see him for the fraud he was.
>ive already covered the most vicious/worst criminals
Anything after that was probably to scare politicians into not making wars. There were no wars
every time someone died they'd just claim it was an Act of Kira and they had it coming, presumably.
meant foralso
>people who harass others
uh oh kira is coming for the internet trolls. double plus unbased
Yeah just like with real religions. When God no longer preformed miracles people dismissed the whole thing as fraud.
What about the Yakuza who harass small buisness owners into paying "protection fees"?
>imagine thinking Yagami Light is on the same level as Higuchi (yakuza)
I disagree. Near is my favorite character. He outsmarts light, L couldn't do that so near is better.
I think the charm with L is that he is a deceptively a straightforward person for Death Note standards despite his eccentricity. He just wants to catch criminals, not play games with them. L's way of approaching things are pretty simple and effective, as opposed to Light's love of convoluted schemes and Near's turbo autism.
L's strategy against Light is pretty standard. He objectively views the crimes to draw a profile of the criminal and tries to narrow down suspects based on hard facts. The tennis scene shows this off pretty well, as Light is obsessed with winning the petty games like the tennis match itself and L's photo game. Light even catches on to what L is doing but he just can't resist. since he's not giving away hard evidence anyways. Same thing with all the other games they play, like the hidden cameras, Light is so obsessed with hiding everything that objectively incriminates him as Kira since he believes this to be the objective of the game that it makes him look even more suspicious. Light time and time again demonstrates his superiority complex and incredible intellect, which practically screams to L that he is Kira.
Light thinks that he and L are playing a game of wits while L doesn't really care that much and lets Light do most of the work for him. He only lost cause he just didn't have enough information to work with and not enough time.
This
Maybe he felt it would be ending too early? There might be one or two unimportant plot points still left unresolved, idk
Aside from being Light’s equal and the back-and-forth between them trying to outsmart each other, L has more depth to his character. Even if it’s not readily apparent, you can notice L is a lonely person. Growing up without parents and surrounded by just his coworkers and Watari but they aren’t really “friends.” But then he found a fellow peer in Light that matched his intellect and I think subconsciously he probably did latch onto him which ironically led to his death. It’s tragedy you can see unfolding while with Near he didn’t really give a shit and there’s no interesting dynamic with Light.
What said and his deductive reasoning actually makes sense.
>killing trollfags
doing god's (kira's) work
Near couldn't do that without mafia Mello
I disagree, L himself pointed out that he is childish and hates losing just like kira.
He is childish, but not to the degree of Light. Light's wants to crush L to prove that he is the smartest. L's objective is to simply prove Light as Kira and bring him in. It's never indicated L hates Light as a person and it's all but said that he likes him because he's the closest thing to an equal he's ever had.
>. L's objective is to simply prove Light as Kira and bring him in
L's objective was to solve a puzzle. He said he has committed many crimes and only wants to hunt kira for his own interest. Not because of justice
For L catching kira is the game, he might not hate Light but he still wants to win this game.
Thanks for posting this scan. Based.
It's just a stereotypical portrayal of a high IQ individual, as if they all must suffer from some degree of high functioning autism and be laser focused on some childish goal, like playing with legos but except this time it's stopping this narcissistic serial killer in Japan.
You look at some of the smartest people to have ever existed, the guys who split the atom or discovered math theorems or whatever, and this doesn't resemble them at all. L is just a poor caricature and a shell of a real character.
>It's just a stereotypical portrayal of a high IQ individual
Both Light and L are though. You can tell L is the old stereotype of the autist high IQ (to this day I don't know if the stereotype is based on someone who has lived or not, maybe some autist somewhere was good at maths, but idk) while Light represents the shiny new normie, Jung-approved high IQ individual, who's a socializer but also sociopath so he doesn't care and there's prbly a mbti for them.
no
Light isn't a sociopath. He threw up when he first used the death note. Lost his memories and still wanted to be a detective
Near is a very forced copy of L who didn't actually achieve anything. All of Near's wins were asspulls. The anime ended when L died. Light is smarter than Melo and Near put together.
Could have also been editorial meddling.
Writer might have wanted to end it there, but maybe his serialization/editor wanted to keep it going, Death Note got really big, after all.
Why did they spoil the ending in the 2nd intro? Fucking faggots. The 2nd arc of Death Note was unusually dark and Mello and Near are extremely hateable.
Once they showed Raito loosing in the into I figured it out.
2nd arc intro right here youtube.com
Its dark asf
DN ending 2
>all those people waiting to catch Yagami
It only gives him more cred
you didn't have the balls to say it back then and those times are not coming back
almost half of the manga is nier shit, p sad
the original quirky and cool.
near was cool and quirky in a kind of similar way so it feels fake
Feels more like an entity than a person
He was pressured into it by publishers, he basically admits this in bakuman
>He only lost cause
A death god knew Light was going to lose and her waifu would get wrecked with him so sacrificed herself to protect her? L legitimately beat Light and him winning is what caused his own death.
Misa caused more suspicion on Yagami than if she didn't exist, so it evens out
Why didn't Light just tell Mikami to run over the SPK with a truck at the warehouse?
Nothing? Near is better. They’re basically the same, but Near has a cooler theme music and gimmick.
honestly couldn't finish the second half, a show is only as good as it's main characters and L was essentially the perfect character against Light, after he died the show died with him imo. I would have liked L to have been able to have some kind of major contingency plan and ultimately reveal Light and have it end an episode or two after his death rather than the shite they pretended as a continuation.
read the manga
don't listen to this guy. near shit in the anime is only 11 episodes, while on the manga it's more than 50 chapters, nearly half of the entire manga. the anime did it better
I'd fuck Near all super smart shotas love obese neet oniichans
I disagree, Kira is a retarded kid who got lucky to escape L, whereas L was chasing a literal ghost and got it, just a little too late.
People hate on N because he's the one who caught Kira story wise, but L and Mello did all the heavy lifting for that to happen
Yagami wasn't some retard he was Japans number 1 student going toe to toe with the best detective in the world
No L was a retard who let his suspect join his investigation, send said suspect to search for second Kira ensuring that one was able to the other and didn't take Rem into consideration when trying to disprove the fake rules even though she said they were legit.
