Gundam, actually. Done with the 0079 movies and almost done with Zeta.
I got to say, the whole "robot fight of the week" really gets annoying when you have to watch 50 episodes of it.
I don't even feel like the story is just a device to create fights. It's the opposite actually. The fights were a way to get funding to tell their story.
But it's so tedious.
>I got to say, the whole "robot fight of the week" really gets annoying when you have to watch 50 episodes of it.
Stop. Binging. You retard.
Macross 7
I only have 15 episodes left and I just want them to sing more than 2 songs
I know you're just gonna call me a retard again, but I feel like it would be even worse if I didn't rush through it...
There's already barely any progress if you watch five episodes per day. Gonna be nearly zero progress if I watch two per day.
Also, I never expected them to be gripping and awe-inspiring shows. I knew that the old Gundam series are more than dated.
But I watched Hathaway (and SEED, long ago) and man, that movie made me want to understand the timeline.
I know that the real treats are Thunderbolt and 0080. The originals are just there to get the full experience.
It's kind of a project I convinced myself to do and I'm binging so I can get to the good stuff quicker.
God, I fucking hate Kamille as a protagonist though.
Should have watched the recap movies
re-watching Urusei McFucking Yatsura
I did. For 0079.
But a quick google search told me that the Zeta Recaps are dogshit and I believe everything I read on the internet, so now I'm watching the whole show.
don't ever talk shit about kamille again
His name sounds like a girl's name.
you've done him
I watched Dallos recently. Supposedly it the very first OVA. It was certainly nice looking but I feel like the plot while not uninteresting was bit off in certain ways. Mostly I just never felt much like the moon people were as oppressed as the OVA and rebels wanted me to think they were. You could make argument about them being forced to wear ID crowns which wouldn't be invalid but that aside they seem to be able to come and go as they please, they live in bright domes with clean parks, even when one gets hurt and can't meet his mining quota we don't see a whip come down or anything. Terrorists meanwhile blow up a space ship, kidnap people and basically just mess shit up for everyone and the MC runs off with them because he's a dumbass.
Anyways there's cyborg dogs. That's kind of cool.
Fuck you
just watched this the other day
some stills look great and some of the action scenes are enjoyable, but overall this film is just kinda shitty, shitty backgrounds, shitty faces
>Binges zeta
>hates Kamille
Typical
Villain I have done thy mother
Actually everyone in Zeta is insufferable.
Char is just there so they can say "hey this popular guy from last time still exists".
Nothing Beltorchika does or says makes any sense.
I don't know if it's just my subs, but some of the dialogue just seems nonsensical. I never had that problem with 0079
Emma is cool, I guess.
Reccoa is dumb, always looking for trouble. She just got taken and I bet she fights for Septimus soon...
Don't get me started on Fa. Why do they even mention her parents being hostages when it never comes up again? What the fuck is that Titans leader doing? They introduce a parents-kidnapping villain and then he just fucks off and is never seen again?
They completely waste Amuro's potential.
At least Kamille's father had a personality, but I still hated him.
The only cool guy is the captain who's got a crush on Emma...
>Don't get me started on Fa. Why do they even mention her parents being hostages when it never comes up again?
I want you to think about that one for a minute, user. I want you to actually expend a little bit of thought and think about what it might mean when someone gets taken away by the space Gastapo but then never get brought back up. I mean I know it's subtle but maybe just read between the lines a little bit. You're an idiot.
Based
Rewatching Beautiful Dreamer not too long ago actually got me curious. It's certainly a very stark contrast to normal tone and style of the show, but in that regard I kind of wonder what it would be like to see Oshii take his style to other properties. Like what would a Mamoru Oshii Dirty Pair movie look like? What if he actually got to make that Lupin movie? What if he did a Gundam series?
>What if he actually got to make that Lupin movie?
Didn't he write multiple episodes in Part 6?
He was also a big influence in all Patlabor content, not just the movies.
>Didn't he write multiple episodes in Part 6?
Supposedly they wanted him to direct a full movie. But what he came up with and I'm just going off wikipeda
>" his proposal for it was very eccentric, with the producers from Yomiuri TV and Toho opposed his vision of the film, saying that it "made no sense". "
>He was also a big influence in all Patlabor content,
Well yeah, he was one of the main creators and was a founding part of Headgear. Patlabor was much his creation as it was the rest of the groups.
Stuck with Oniisama E and you guys were right, it's good. Some of the shit with Mariko was more like horror than drama it was pretty great. Also damn this show is beautiful, I see why people call it Dezakis best.
>>" his proposal for it was very eccentric, with the producers from Yomiuri TV and Toho opposed his vision of the film, saying that it "made no sense
Plebs keep getting filtered by Oshii kino to this very day
>What are you watching?
last thing I watched was Lily CAT
The manga is not without its charm, but the anime is a much better experience.
Cowboy bleep bluup or whatever
youtube.com
I'm really curious about how his version would have turned out. Digging around on IMDB turns up
imdb.com
The most pertinent part is
>When Mamoru Oshii was set to direct, the original story was that Lupin would attempt to steal the fossil of an angel, an insane architect would build a Tower of Babel in the heart of Tokyo, and that Lupin would transcend reality.
So I'm wondering how many of these ideas got spilled over into Patlabor and GITS now actually.
Stream when?
>oshii stream
Great idea
trying to finish both Dunbine and Turn-A Gundam, Dunbine however is much harder to finish meanwhile i can cruise through Turn A way more easily.
Late 90s Tomino was something else because he made Brain Powerd that had been years on the planning and that ended up to be a total wet fart, but then a year after that Turn A Gundam was released and literally every part of the anime (the directing, the plot, the characters, the animation) was much more competent than even the better part of BP.
>Turn A Gundam was released and literally every part of the anime (the directing, the plot, the characters, the animation) was much more competent than even the better part of BP.
Funny because I felt nothing about Turn A was competent at all. Is brain powered just a bunch of white pixel noise?
No, fuck off idiot.
Do you spammer actually watch old anime or are you just interested in flooding the board who talk about the usual 10 shows?
It's the latter.
Most retards here just like to talk about how they're cool for watching old stuff, but don't actually watch or understand any of it.
You seem to be lost. The [insert flavor of the month show] thread is down to the leftn
Make me
that Patlabor movie was so good, holy shit
I love it.
Get out spamfaggot.
At least go watching actual old anime and stop looking at tumblr gifs.
>that pic
Seven Days of Fire is a top 5 Patlabor episode.
Space Runaway Ideon. Im a little after the halfway point and its pretty enjoyable so far if you are willing to ignore some moments where it seems that everyone from the characters themselves to the creators of the anime are having a stroke simultaneously. Some of the characters are pretty good, although i hope a wider array of them gets developed by the end instead of focusing only on a couple of them. Heard the movie was good and im looking forward to it.
Everything mentioned ITT so far was flavor of the month at some point.
Do you need a boogyman to function a as a human being or is it just projection?
It was a really good one. I'd honestly have a hard time picking out a top 10 let a lone top 5. But I'd probably include that one in at least one or the other.
>its pretty enjoyable so far if you are willing to ignore some moments where it seems that everyone from the characters themselves to the creators of the anime are having a stroke simultaneously.
made me chuckle
>the characters themselves to the creators of the anime are having a stroke simultaneously.
This is every Tomino show and I have no idea how people ignore this
I dont watch anything at the moment but I'm about to read IY for the first time.
Do you need buzzwords to express a concept?
consider if you will
Just finished watching Nadia last night. I thought it was quite good, especially the last five episodes. The island episodes were just mid but not offensively bad. also i love Grandis.
>mid
So these threads really are filled with Twitter underage tourists, huh.
boomer animes are too long
Halfway through Zeta, enjoying it much more than 0079. Loving the 2nd OP too.
Almost finished Nadia, stupidly ignored the advice to skip the Island/Africa episodes so tortured myself through them. Thought the musical episode was pretty fun even if it was a blatant advert for some character song CD or whatever.
Where do you know twitterlingo from user?
Starting Ranma, I thought this series took place in ancient china for some reason
Pro tip: Zeta and ZZ aren't worth your time and everything after CCA just needlessly muddied the timeline.
What do people enjoy about this steaming pile of shit, I just don't get it. Be Invoked was good but the tv series is such fucking garbage, every decent episode is followed by 5 episodes of atrocious horseshit.
Zeta is worth the time. ZZ is skippable crap, 08th MS team is the best Gundam.
>Zeta and ZZ aren't worth your time
Spoken like a true IBO shitter
>That DNR
Christ, why would you do that?
Ahab.
Macross
Only good parts of Zeta are when characters and elements from 0079 are reused. Nobody actually likes or thinks Emma or Rosamia or Scirocco are good characters.
8th MS Team is excellent but it still does muddy the timeline. Nothing after CCA actually expanded of the story and setting in a meaningful way. At best it's a generic military story pretending to be Gundam. So while it may be enjoyable standing on it's own, it's place in the UC timeline isn't warranted.
Film grain is an undesirable artifact. only posers disagree.
You're wrong.
>8th MS Team is excellent but it still does muddy the timeline
Doesn't matter 08th Ms is its own thing you can even consider it A.U
