Most of the world population seemed to approve and even support KIRA, not because of fear but because of self conviction.
How was he evil again?

The only bad thing he's debatedly done is kill cops. That's it.
he just had some missteps, but if he's god it's not like you can be evil AND god, you're god
really really shouldn't have killed Lind L. Taylor on Kanto television
They said the world loved Kira but what was Kira's tax policy like?
Light lost.
Schizophrenic ESLs lost.
Underage Lightfags lost.
Near won.
Columbo won.
Near cheated
Who'll survive and who will die, up to Yogiri to decide
He wasn't
>Most of the world population
Most of the world population happen to be quite dumb

>"Light lost."
>Near: We had Giovanni make a fake notebook, replicating Mikami's handwriting, tears in the pages, dust, smears, marks and all in one night!
>Light: What the fu- That's literally impossible but Okay.. I knew you'd try to tamper with it, which is why I had Mikami check for tampering.
>Near: npc jak.jpg
>Near: FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU I WIN ANYWAYS!!! I WIN BECAUSE THE AUTHOR SAYS SO
>Light: wtf i literally fucking won this is bullshit
This is the biggest case of a character being too smart and being forced to lose because of the message the author was trying to push, literally ruined the whole ending in both versions.
He tried to usurp the role of God with demonic power. If he were real he'd be frying in hell.
No trial. It makes all the difference.
good thing*
ACAB #BLM
>The only bad thing he's debatedly done is kill cops.
He likely killed hundreds of innocents by mistake.
They don't dwell on it too much, but Light has been shown killing people SUSPECTED of crimes. Were they all guilty?
But even if they didn't mention that: Light killed thousands of people. Think he spent much time studying every case to find out whether they're truly guilty?
The point was how he lost
He got a bit messed in the head and made mistakes
If he didnt fuck up he'd be happily ruling the earth and everyone would acclimate to it.
No one mentions this. He would watch TV and take out whoever's mugshot he saw first. After the first ten thousand I doubt he cared
>If he didnt fuck up he'd be happily ruling the earth and everyone would acclimate to it.
Good. If you're not evil you'd be safe from Kira's wrath. Literally nothing to fear.
>character being too smart and being forced to lose
Sounds familiar, although in her case, she was always meant to lose but was killed off earlier than intended because she was written too competently.
I don't think he was evil, he was just incredibly shitty at what he was trying to do, and also incredibly cringe
Light was already given massive plot armor for all his previous pathetic fuckups. If anything he got a free fucking ride for being an idiot
This is how I can tell most people who reply in these threads didn't watch/read DN
God nor Hell exists.
How's high school going?

>brain blast
It's more like L's fuckups balances Light's questionable decisions.
He killed people who weren't evil. Just based on the news, and trust in the legal system to correctly identifying but under punish.
He killed tonnes of innocents including police officers just to hide his own identity.
He didn't believe in redemption, rehabilitation, or second chances (and the majority of people do/did, as evidenced by the existence of our legal system).
>He didn't believe in redemption, rehabilitation or second chances
False
Not false. He said he wouldn't punish released prisoners. But going forward he'll kill everyone that goes to prison.
You can be rehabilitated but you can't get rehabilitation.
He never said that.
No he just wrote their names down.
There's no implication that he will kill everyone in prison.
It doesn't matter, because we won't be wasting millions of tax payers money anymore on criminals in prisons.
or war
the funny thing was heaven/hell didn't exist in Death Note, which Light correctly guessed
You do realize your tax money doesn't go 100% into prisons yeah?
I would support him
Criminals are parasites that shouldn't be present in our society.
Underage b8
Mikami only wrote in the Death Note for like a week before he put it in the bank.
Light didn't lose, season 2 was only a cash grab by the dogshit author and retards fell for it. Its a good way to filter idiots.
>b-b-but the law says killing people is bad!
That's the thought process of people who think Light was the villain.
See there is a difference between what Light wants us to think
>That he is building a safe, good and honest world, by being a martyr who will kill all the bad people
And what kind of person Light actually is
>A vain, narcissistic, arrogant, full of himself, egotistical, psychopathic, megalomaniac, son of a bitch
>The dude is on the biggest ego trip in the history of the world
>Sure he kills criminals, but then he targets honest and hard working detectives, because he is scared of being caught
>He manipulated with people who loved him
>Both Misa and Takada were loyal to him, while he wanted to kill one of them, and killed the other
>He lies through his teeth all day long
>He takes intense pleasure in winning, and every time he thinks he won, he shows his psychopathic nature
>His ONLY reason for not killing his sister, was that it would lead back to him
>He knows that the people who write in the notebook, are cursed to go to a horrible place of nothingness, and he puts on a tearful act to manipulate his dying father into using the notebook
>And once he gets caught, we see the cool and calm mask slip
>We see Light for what he truly is: a pathetic, raving, sick lunatic, who was always high on the idea of being God, and who's definition of justice was "I'll kill whoever I feel like, but mostly criminals"
Face it, Light was a petty as fuck, childish villain, with the world's deadliest WMD, and an MO that in theory people can get behind. Yeah, killing all of the worlds criminals is not the worst thing, but if it's done by that absolute monster, then it's basically pointless. And let's face it, Light's new world would have lasted only as long as he lives. As soon as the Kira killings end, humanity would have gone back to enjoying crime. And there is no way to make sure Kira is there forever, since if Light organized a way to pass the Death note down, it would instantly end up in the hands of someone worse than him. Mikami, Takada and Misa are proof of that.
Light said early on that after he dealt with all the major criminals he'd start making those he deems lazy and unproductive die of accidents and disease. Meaning anyone defending him on this basket weaving forum is advocating their own death.
that pretty much sounds like God to be fair. The manga would have sucked ass if Light weren't a vain psychopath
very based, we all deserve to die
Having the smug wiped off of Light's face, and seeing him scream, cry and beg for his life, was literally the best part of the manga. You have this psychopath, who just keeps winning and winning, and you just can't wait for him to get absolutely humiliated, and then the final chapters happen, and oh boy do they deliver.
Thats just headcanon
The point was secretly killing minor anti-social elements that if were publicly being killed would destabilize society due to people not knowing how to behave to not die.
A person has no right to judge others. It's hypocrisy, only revenge matters because it's personal.
>They don't dwell on it too much, but Light has been shown killing people SUSPECTED of crimes. Were they all guilty?
He's Japanese, so he has that fucked up "Accusation = Guilty" mentality.
It's been awhile since I have seen it, but I don't remember him elaborating that much on the people on TV he would kill.
>headcanon
He LITERALLY says that's what he intends to do. He then follows it up by saying it'll be a world filled only with those he deems worthy.
You just know that within like a week of Kira’s existence being confirmed the CIA was already mixing fake criminals into their reports to get rid of anyone they didn’t like
Brainlet take. The truth is that he does have a genuine desire to change the world for the better and we know this because he started off using the death note believing that he would face consequences for using the death note, the idea of losing his being the first thing that comes to mind. There are also several times when he was shown to be upset at Mikami for killing people he thought shouldn't die. That being said this doesn't change the fact that he is also petty, shellfish and believes that only he is capable of setting things right. If he didn't die so soon the world wouldn't have regressed as quickly as it did and it would all depend on how he would change the world in the long run to see if humanity ended up in a better off. While Light wasn't depicted as good the story did end with characters questioning if the world was truly better without him so it's clearl that the author didn't want him to be completely wrong.
No that's just one characters interpretation, nobody knew if it was just a threat or not.
he wasn't evil in the same way governments aren't evil
he was just a kind of warrior that, in the end, lost
Didn't he mostly go for people convicted of things like murder or rape? He wasn't killing people for robbing a convenience store or disorderly conduct. Though he did start killing people who were going after him, which I understand but of course hurts his whole moral crusade thing.
And honestly most people who end up accused of a violent crime typically did do it. It is exceedingly rare for someone to get condemned to death row and then turn out to be innocent. That said, even so, I think killing 99 guilty and 1 innocent is better than letting 99 guilty and 1 innocent go free. As the other user said about the CIA, things get muddled once the general populace comes to know about Kira and realize he's real, so it's very possible that as things went on much of the people he was killing from TV weren't actually guilty of a violent crime against an individual and were simply inconvenient to some government agency.
Light says it himself in one of the early chapters and you just posted a page where in his inner thoughts he implies he's gonna do it later.
>He wasn't killing people for robbing a convenience store
he absolutely was.
oh. nevermind then lol
I haven't watched it in over a decade.
