Why do manga readers look down on anime only watchers?
Why do manga readers look down on anime only watchers?
don't know, but sometimes shitty adapted anime makes me drop the manga
Coping losers.
Don't want to tiptoe around spoilers
Anime-onlys will get BTFO
its not so much "looking down" as it is feeling sorry for people who haven't discovered a superior medium.
compare the anime and manga versions of pic related and then you will understand
because anime can only show so much without being an info dump in its limited time per episode. Most multi work series don't get a second season even if the manga sells well.
Most anime only's Don't realize that KNY is over and we already know what the fuck is going on and who dies and who fucks who. Spy X familiy released last week and it surged in popularity despite the manga debut being over a year ago
Due to the nature of adapting one medium into another, the result can end up being totally different and attract different audiences
Imagine being a fan of JoJo before the anime released, being all the way up to the start of part 8, and then having the public image of this thing you like be destroyed by 10 year olds spamming shitty memes everywhere
i don't
If I cared about public image I wouldn't be here.
Sometimes it's kind of like "you say you're so into the anime but then you can't even be bothered to check out the manga?" I mean I personally don't actively look down on people for this reason, but I can see someone feeling like that.
It's one thing if the anime itself got you into [whatever], and it's still airing and you just haven't checked out the manga yet. But if someone has been following a series for years or the show ended a while ago or whatever, and they haven't even tried to read the manga (so not just "checked it out but didn't like it") it might seem a little weird. Especially when they're like "well I've seen the anime so it's redundant" in cases where they're actually pretty different and you'd know that if you read it.
I know this post might make it seem like this is something I really care about, but mostly I'm just trying to spell out where I guess this sort of "elitism" or whatever might be coming from. If someone's getting super mad at someone else who's obviously just a really casual watcher and not some devoted hardcore fan, that's also weird.
>be animefag
>series that has been talked about on Yea Forums for years finally getting an anime
>expect the second coming of Christ because apparently that's the only kind of thing you think should be talked about on the board
>anime comes out
>you don't like it
>manga readers telling you the adaptation isn't very good
>no, that's not possible, there's no way I could be missing out by watching anime
>the source is just bad despite never having read any of it
>I must make it my duty to derail any threads about the series because I don't like it
Bullshit.
Explain how a single frame is better than 28fps.
I've read enough manga and made comparisons to see firsthand that anime is the superior format, the ONE downside is always budget/time constraints that anime is not always faithful or follows the exact same plot as source material for the sake of wrapping up the show neatly.
because like any hobby those in deeper will form hierarchies with dabblers at the bottom
>Explain how a single frame is better than 28fps.
That single frame is prettier and more detailed than the other 28 combined. There's a reason most of the more beautiful manga have never been adapted, or their adaptations have been horrendous.
Anime also has a set pace you're forced to follow.
>the ONE downside is always budget/time constraints that anime is not always faithful or follows the exact same plot as source material for the sake of wrapping up the show neatly
These are pretty big downsides, user. And they're in basically every anime adaptation to some extent.
when it comes to adult oriented content, manga vastly outnumbers anime
>web novels
>light novels
>visual novels
>manga
>ova
>anime
>booru enjoyers
Elitism, see
Anime usually is created to sell the manga/LN, and unless it's insanely profitable, it'll never contiune far enough to finish the series. It's a cock tease and the creaters bank on you wanting to spend money to finish the story.
Whenever an anime adaptation of manga frequently talked about on Yea Forums comes out, the quality of threads about that manga is completely annihilated for years afterward
That's my one and only reason
Some people are just petty and retarded and will look for literally any excuse they can find to berate others.
Anime keeps becoming more and more mainstream every year but manga is not quite there yet so this give some people a sense of """prestige""" because, you know, POPULAR = BAD
>POPULAR = BAD
Correct. Normalfags like things the wrong way for the wrong reasons and ruin any potential for serious discussion.
Their mentality, mostly, not so much about the medium itself.
I know you are just taking the piss, pretending to be retarded but there really are a lot of people here who would unironically parrot this drivel.
I can't have nice things because you are content with shit things
yes unironically
people thinking POPULAR=GOOD is the actual issue and something tells me you're one of them
Plenty of popular things ARE good, being a nitpicky faggot that doesn't like anything is not a sign of good taste, more often it's just a sign of being a joyless, pretentious twat.
as far as my ranking goes...
>1. Web Novel
oftentimes the series is more raw and unfiltered. Authors are allowed to get away with a lot more.
Sometimes the writing is sloppy, but it's written with PASSION because it's gotta draw in new readers AND keep existing readers reading.
>2. Light Novels
It's been my experience that Light Novels are basically the Web Novels with all the "fun" removed (dank references, memes, callouts and references to licensed products; rude, excessively violent, or explicit content) and also more content added, because there's a fundamental difference between trad LN publishing vs web-based WN publishing.
>3. Manga
A lot of stuff gets cut in favor of actionable, catchy scenes.
>4. Anime
Basically, if a WN/LN gets an anime greenlit, it's probably going to get scooped up by the lowest possible bidder, all the important worldbuilding shit is thrown away, and the anime is basically just a vehicle to encourage you to buy the LN/ Manga.
Because every time an adaptation of a manga I like rolls out, thread quality takes a nosedive. I can only conclude that anime watchers are at fault.
It's ussually because anime adaptations can add extra stuff that isn't canon to said series, or the animation didn't look as good as it did in the book, or the acting is terrible, or creates retards like the ones in the DragonballZ threads. Many reasons why.
You seem like you're basing your opinion on web novels being the original with everything else being an adaptation. Manga is a big industry by itself with series made to be manga. Obviously manga adaptations of WNs or LNs will be missing something. Manga adaptations of anime tend to have problems too. The problem is with adapting things. And anime is much more of a medium for adaptations than manga or LNs are.
It's always the original source over everything else. Adaptions will always miss the point.
Because anime onlys are intelligent enough to ask questions that poke holes in the plot, making manga readers irrationally upset in confrontation of their mindless consumer behavior.
>animeonlies
>intelligent
>the public image of this thing you like be destroyed
You're a more of a faggot than actual faggots if you care about this.
>Animeonlies
>Intelligent
I intentionally spoil shit in threads filled with animeonlies.
this demonstrates my Alpha status by flexing on those weaker than me.
besides, animeonlies are plebs that don't actually care about what they're watching; they just want to consoooom.
this is your mind on plotfaggotry
This. Animeonlies are inherently Semitic.
>animeonlies
>intelligent
>le funny -oomer words XD
>this entire post
This is why nobody likes you.
man, its almost like soul is inversely proportional to the amount of suits involved.
You're the kind of nigger that watches a SoL anime and complains that nothing happens.
Have you not seen the drastic drop in quality of threads for series that get a new anime adaptation? It literally goes to shit overnight. Animeonlies have earned their reputation. They're cancerous shitposting faggots or normalfag twitter migrants
t. consoomer
This. The amount of r9kcels and shounenshitters bitching about Bisque last season is enough proof that animeonlies should be gassed.
"animeonlies" is a shit name that sucks. surely we can come up with a nicer sounding title or just steal one from the nips of they have one.
The amount of hostility a harmless romcom got was quite bizzare to say the least
Jaded people I guess.
I don't
Animeonly trash should know their place.
"Secondary/ies" is often used to refer to people who only watch/read adaptations instead of the source material.
you're correct that anime has a higher potential ceiling than manga, the issue is that there are so many moving parts that only a small fraction (maybe 2-3 shows a year) actually live up to that potential.
the relative simplicity of manga means it's easier for a creator to realize their vision without something going wrong, and if you took 100 random anime and manga, gave them an objective score and sorted them in decreasing order, maybe the top 2 anime might score better than the top 2 manga but everything else would be favored to the manga
except that people who resolutely refuse to read manga aren't actually doing it because of that, they've just got some complex about either 'elitist manga readers' or are just fucking illiterate so that argument doesn't apply. they're gimping they're own enjoyment 99% of the time and that deserves ridicule.
"secondary" is a much more general term, "animeonlies" refers to a specific type of secondary. it doesn't really work as a full replacement.
>28fps
Animeonlys like (you) deserve all the disrespect because they can't even understand the underlying principles of animation.
>they're own enjoyment
>they're
You have no right to call others illiterate.
ANd then compare MOB psycho 100 versions...
understanding the underlying principles of a piece of paper isn't really an achievement
I was animeonly for ten years before reading manga and dropping coomerbait altogether.
Anime adaptations are usually worse than the source material and AOPs tend to be stupid -- like really fucking retarded -- and tend to ruin discussion about every series they latch onto.
