who asked?

me

the natural choice for homosexuals

I read manga on my smartphone. its not very comfortable.

We don't care.

Why is the page flipped?

I'm interested, what's your experience with it? What model are you using?

I read on a cheap 10" android tablet, it's big enough for single pages and spreads.
It's worth it for Tachiyomi as well, I can't imagine going back to manually looking for manga and keeping track of my reading progress.

How is it? I've been tempted to get one or a tablet to read manga at work

Tablet is clearly better, but ok

I use this to read manga uk.kobobooks.com/products/kobo-forma

i read it on my phone on the free version of a manga app that still gets ads at the bottom 20% of the screen.

ive been reading with double pages
is there a good way to figure out the order of pages?

Why bother with adware when there's a FOSS solution that does everything.

You seem awfully keen to be validated for something so mundane.

This isn't even your picture. Paid e-reader shills are on the rise. Be wary.

The best way to read Manga digitally is one of the 10'' Android chink e-readers with tachiyomi sideloaded. Currently the best offers are the newer onyx boox. They even have a 7'' color e-reader now.

I've been wondering whether to buy a cheap 10'' android tablet or a 7'' or 8'' e-reader (like the Kindle oasis or the Kobo forma)

Why do you think an android tablet would be better?

Tachiyomi is fairly limited in its selection.

10" is too small. You want the 13" models for proper two page display.

It's got support for every site I've ever bothered to check

You're probably not reading not a whole lot of manga then or satisfied with the garbage quality and censorship from Niconico.

Are you on drugs or do you simply not know how to use Tachiyomi?
There are literally hundreds of different sources (extensions).

All for garbage aggregators and foreign language translations.

Not that user, but I've been holding off buying the high-end Boox model for a year now, it is pretty obvious they will release the color version soon enough, the last year update was just a backlit screen, nothing else, which is pretty telling they are procrastinating with the actual 13 inches MAX color version.

Ok enlighten me where you get your manga from.

An ink display is a better way to view manga than an LED or LCD screen at any rate

>the last year update was just a backlit screen
No, the Lumi came out in 2020.
2021 was the Lumi 2 which had terrible reflectivity.
E ink recently announced 13" Kaleido 3 panels so a Max Color is extremely likely for the end of the year.
I got a Max 3 in 2019 and am very happy with it.

Primarily Bookwalker

Can that thing show double spreads?

based moonreader user

>single page
you somehow manage to read manga the wrong way, this is astounding.

it's great. im using kindle oasis 3 it's 7' inch
im also using kindle paperwhite 5 6'8 inch which is better cuz 32gb storage.
e-ink is better for mangas, also LCD will burn your eyes.

I don't read moon runes, if there isn't an official English release I'm at the mercy of third worlders translating for me.

>im also using kindle paperwhite 5 6'8 inch which is better cuz 32gb storage.
With Likebook you can get larger displays and hundreds of GB via micro SD.
Boox also has 64/128 GB storage.

boox is literally android tablet with e-ink screen.
if you want only manga and books, kindle is best.

Even if you just want to read books, Kobo is the better option. And for manga having Android is a huge advantage.
Kindle is for retards that don't know anything about the ereader market.

anything more than 10 inches is stupid lol, I bought a 12.4 tablet and it looks like a fucking table LMAO, I can barely hold it with one hand. Manga pages also look stretched AF on the screen. 7-8 inches are probably the ideal size.

What happens with color page?

Are E-Readers not slow as fuck anymore?

Are you reading one page at a time?

You can flip pages in the blink of an eye. And there's even faster modes in case you want to browse through a volume/magazine. Or watch videos for whatever reason.

its monochrome
no

That would be a perfect size to read two pages at a time in landscape mode, obviously a single page would look stretched.

Not a kindle but same fork, the fireos tablets are pretty high spec for under $100. I mostly use it for other things but since it's also a kindle that's nice.

I use single page for 4koma and similar detailed manga.

So, between an android LCD tabled and a non-android e-ink reader what would you choose for mangas?

Fire tablets are LCD. And the actual Kindles don't use an Android derived OS. You might as well just use the Kindle app on any other tablet.

Depends if you have any intresting in using the tablet for other things, I wouldn't use it for anything other than manga and reading books so I went with an ereader, E-ink > lcd

Yes

I'm guessing it would look cramped vertically-wise if I did that. My point is that it's not comfortable at all compared to a smaller device.

I'd stick with Android e-readers.

> My point is that it's not comfortable at all compared to a smaller device.
Because your 12.4" tablet isn't E ink. 13.3" E ink is extremely light and comfortable.

Tachyomi has made me lazy so I wouldn’t bother if I had to manually add chapters to my device.

yeah bro, that 13,3'' e-ink is so comfortable!

What about adding full volumes and magazines?

>And the actual Kindles don't use an Android derived OS
Since when?

>just hold this tv sized tablet on your hand bro
lol

They've always used a kernel directly derived from Linux. Kindle is older than Android.

What kind of TV is 13"? The typical comparison would be A4 paper.
You can hold A4/letter paper in your hands, right?
