I hate the new Saiyan lore. They were supposed to be dumb, savage barbarians who just conquered the planet and then accept Frieza's offer after that. Absolutely no retarded shit like "Saiyan scientists" or non warrior Saiyans at all. In the Bardock movie, they had weaker Saiyans and lesser races to do all of the non-warrior jobs. This made the entire race to be Spartan like and perfect for Frieza's needs until he realize things were getting out of control.

The Saiyans are bloodthirsty warmongers that were fated to be destroyed by the weight of their own sins. If not by Frieza, then by one of the many species they've wronged. We see Nail with a whopping 42,000 PL, far higher than Bejita even after a zenkai on Earth, and Elder Guru implying that only a Super Saiyan could combat Kami when he's whole. Not to mention mutants like the Ginyu Force eclipsing the strength of every Saiyan that's ever lived. The Saiyans would have been killed sooner or later. Toriyama does a great job at showing they deserved what they recieved, while giving them just enough humanity to relate to.
Nappa had no problem suggesting they should rape the women on Earth to make powerful halflings, but still raised Bejita and Raditz and viewed them as his comrades. He even suggests reviving Raditz, a low-class warrior that's only as strong as a saibaman. Nappa is quite kind for a Saiyan, going against their very nature of valuing strength above all, while stamping over the basic values of humanity, showcasing the difference in their views on morality. Raditz was an underhanded fighter that enjoyed crushing those that were weaker than him and used anything in his reach to gain an advantage, but doesn't hesitate to give Goku the chance to join him and resolves to make Gohan into a strong Saiyan warrior. He's arguably got a better grasp on familial ties than some Z-fighters, and also goes against Saiyan's value of strength. Bejita was cruel, even for a Saiyan. He had no intentions on reviving Raditz, didn't care about reviving or rebuilding the Saiyan race, and wastes no time killing one of his last living connections to the long lost Saiyan race. He admittedly doesn't care about the Saiyans and holds no regrets after massacring more races than he can count. Yet his determination to fulfill his life's purpose, avenging the Saiyans, makes him someone you can't help but root for.

It's incredible, the Saiyan prince values Saiyan pride over everything, even more than Saiyan lives. He exemplifies the Saiyan race, idolizing values that ironically lead to their destruction. The premise of a warrior race that longs for nothing but battle, while being surrounded by aliens that are far stronger than they are creates a really interesting dynamic that gives narrative weight to the endless stream of stronger antagonists. It works as a perfect parallel of Goku's tale in OG, where he constantly looks for stronger opponents to fight for fun, only kills for the sake of others and works to suppress the very same Saiyan nature that ended up killing his only relative on Earth.
To see all of them die in such humiliating ways really cements the bitter-sweet tone that Toriyama was going for. Accepting that they are an objective harm to the universe while reminding the reader with subjective morality, makes for antagonists that are respectable or even admirable despite the fact that they cannot be redeemed. The satisfaction of seeing them get their comeuppance contrasts well with the disappointment of their crushed ambitions. The anime adds additional context to this, with King Bejita and Bardock attempting to kill Frieza before their race can die out. To see all of their hopes and dreams fall onto Goku, a man who desperately wants to avoid his heritage and repent for the death caused by his Saiyan nature, brings all of this to a head. Goku accepting all of this, heroically placing the hopes and dreams of this barbaric race on his shoulders, tainting his pure heart, and becoming a warrior of rage hell-bent on defeating the strongest in the universe in a one-on-one deathmatch is peak literature, maybe even peak Dragon Ball. The last remaining full-blooded Saiyan dying just as they lived, fighting.
