There was this article a couple years back where a light novel editor admitted that they end up rewriting like 70% of what the authors send to them because they're just that bad. Kind of funny to think about.

Only if the translator writes good prose when translating from Japanese. What reads well in Japanese might not work so well in English or other western languages, that's why most good translations aren't 100% literal and take liberties to make the sentences flow better in English.

I've heard my dad say it and he's never watched an episode of anime in his life. It's just another way of saying "There's no helping the situation" aka, nothing can be done.

Because 90% of people aren't autistic about prose and don't mind unless it's so absolutely awful that it's impossible to read. Note: that applies to literature with "good" prose that are difficult for most readers to understand because of archaic words or heavy use of metaphors the readers don't get.

There's just not enough things that can't be helped so it's not used often. Also remember that in writing subtitles there's the same sort of effect as writing dialogue in a novel. People write things that aren't often used in normal speech because they can and it makes the words slightly more interesting.
