I get there have to be a few kingdom saving arcs just because Luffy needs some powerful allies when the big war breaks out in the end. On some level the series is probably getting stretched out because Oda originally planned for it to just be a story about fighting the Yonko and added the Shichibukai when the series turned out to be really popular.

Eh the Shichibukai were in the story even before the grandline and introduced with Mihawk and Jinbei.
Obviously the Shichibukai were supposed to be the pirate enemies with them being gradually stronger and the idea of Yonkou came later. This is further evidenced by the fact that Blackbeard wanted to become a Shichibukai so badly so early only for him to drop that title and become a Yonkou. The Shichibukai were supposed to be the strongest pirates at first and later retconned to be some random ass pirates

It was a generic saving X character arc instead. Kaku was the only good antagonist. The asspulls were much worse too. Diable Jambe didn't have an explanation for 400 chapters and even that was a slight retcon. Asura still doesn't have an explanation. Gear 3 shouldn't have even worked. Law's flashback was better than Robin's. Sogeking was peak Usopp though

Arlong Park/Skypeia/Arabasta all pure soul. As for other stuff you should watch before getting onto TS stuff erm.. I'm not sure? I don't really know other manga or anime that would be a good comparison for post-TS OP. Just go about it naturally. Whole Cake Island gets a lot of praise, i've seen some people say it's one of the peak arcs of the whole series. And not as many people hate Dressrosa than you'd expect given what the general reception originally felt like. I see lots of Violaposters around here.
