Why don't anime character's ever kiss?

The guy is a loser but this scene was fucking hot
Too bad the creators didn't have the balls to have them just make out. Would have honestly made sense with the themes the story is pushing.

Because you don't watch anime.

Having characters come really close to kissing/sex then making up some bullshit so they don’t is so pervasive in manga it’s actually sad. So many chapters wasted on will they/won’t they nonsense between two characters that like eachother and know the other likes them, why is japan like this? Is this why their population is declining? If the average mc had the balls to kiss/fuck the girl that clearly wants his dick rather than pussying out for no reason the medium as a whole would be greatly improved.

This is in the OP

>last chapter: she sits completely on his face with no panties
>this chapter: he hugs her briefly and then prostrates himself and begs forgiveness

Have you seen how many people claim series like that manga about the couple cooking or Ase no Sekken makes they have suicidal thoughts?
Appealing to a lonely otaku audience is a careful balance betwen fantasizing about a idealized social life and throwing what they don't have in their face.

Japan can't into love.

They do and they even have sexo.
Watch more anime.

Seriously. Do Japanese readers enjoy being blue-balled? Wouldn't it be more interesting to explore characters actually having a relationship? At least Kaguya-sama finally had the main couple hook up.

dude
those are like 13-year-olds

Akchually girl is 15 and thus is an adult. Now while the boy is underage that’s not much of a problem.

Is that in medieval times? For some reason sex is okay if shown in a time period that's not the present.

Nice, they are juuust ripe

will they/won't they are the core of most romance media. It's not Japanese exclusive.

That’s such a cope/hypocrisy when you think about it. So it’s no no and can’t show sex in modern times earth but ‘yea sure why not’ in middle ages isekailand.

>will they/won't they are the core of most romance media. It's not Japanese exclusive.

False. Romance novels probably sell as much as manga targeted to women and it's full of nonstop wish fulfillment sex

I think he's referring to anime where the main point of the plot is the two protagonists are constantly playing around each other, but never hook up , like for example, Uzaki Wants to Hang Out- in reality, those two would have been fucking like rabbits by episode 4 at the latest. But, you see, if they hook up, or even just start dating, the tension of the story is mostly gone

In Jing King of Bandits, there's a mutual kiss. Candy Boy also has a kiss.
Kuttsukiboshi has the MC kissing iirc.

This isn’t the Middle East, Farid

PG stuff simply don't sell as much as stuff that blueballs everyone and stay safe.

Purityfags would throw a shitfit

Most people with disposable incomes are parents or relatives with nieces and nephews.

I’ve never kissed a girl on the lips but if I was thrust into a situation where a cute girl was leaning in for kiss I wouldn’t pussy out like the average romcom mc. What particularly annoys me is when the mc is a complete perv yet when he gets the chance to actually fuck he somehow finds a way to stay a virgin, this is why gto and goldenboy are complete trash

Basically, the target audience for romcoms want to self insert into the protagonist in a way and imagine they're interacting with girls too.
Now, most people went to high school so can relate to a certain extent taking to girls and having crushes on girls and what that feels like. Problem is once the characters kiss or in some cases, have sex, this changes the protagonist into someone that can no longer be related with and inserted into since without that experience you can't imagine what the protagonist feels like it their thought process anymore.
Sometimes the effects are felt right away and people will drop the series on the spot, not because of anger but just because they immediately lose interest. Often it's more subtle and the series just doesn't feel as enjoyable and the readers can't tell why.
This is why you generally save these for the very very end of the series, that way there's no series left to drop and the readers will never feel that subtle negativity, resulting in a much more positive feeling about the series in retrospect

Not him but never, still I’d like to see characters kiss when they want to and not have bullshit come in the way

then write your own manga, i would like to see it. the fact of the matter is sex doesn't sell, unless you are content with being second rate mangaka that struggles to pay your bills then don't even try, just focus on making a good story instead of relying on sex or fanservice every 2 pages.

>full of nonstop wish fulfillment sex
Those don't sell as much as you think.
Amazon and many other sites have sales ranking that can be helpful in showing how popular is a literary work truly is.

They're actually 1 year old drawings

Are you saying the average romcom has a good story and the manga that deviate from that are bad? You can have sex and proper relationships in your story without it being a fanservice laden ecchi, and even if you do want to be eternally indecisive over whether your main characters will get together there’s still no reason to have them end up in bed together about to fuck but then get distracted by something, or about to kiss at the fireworks festival but the loud noises makes them mishear eachother.

It depends entirely on what a given series wants to do. A lot of them make their money by teasing whether or not the guy and the girl will hook up. While having no interest in following an actual relationship between them. So they have scenes like that that would logically end in at least making out, if not sex, only for nothing to happen as that'd resolve the romantic tension.

Other series make their money on romances where the couple gets together and continues to follow the relationship, but they tend to not be as prominent.

I wasn't expecting a kissing thread when I made this post but I'm rolling with it

That's why you should read chad mangas like Do Chokkyuu Kareshi x Kanojo.

Scums wish has lots of kisses and love and lies goes straight into it

Technically 14 and 15. Cousins too.

Only a burger could find anything wrong with this

we stay winning

I remember watching sakura trick and they kiss like 30% of time.

If a woman said this to me I would bust out laughing and call her retarded. Because I am just self-destructive.

Both are legal in Japan. Cry more, soccer mom.

Speaking of which, will this new season of Kaguya reach that point in the manga, or is that for the inevitable season four?

I think that's what makes us different from the Japanese viewers. It must be something to do with self-inserting, the character can't progress past the audience.

Greatest anime of all time for a reason, user.

>Is this why their population is declining?
Yes.

Watch more shoujo if you want kisses

Cultural taboo in Japan

Shoujo stories are way more unapologetically fantasies than shonen or seinen semi-smut. The male audience manga are really ashamed of what they are.

Erotica is everywhere on kindle best seller list and 50 shades was huge at one point

Why don't you retards ever understand that them building up to them eventually dating is how these stories work? It's not "OH THE CREATOR IS AFRAID TO DO IT!!" you fucking autist. The story is clearly set up for them to be together, but the big pay off of them actually kissing won't come for a while since part of the plot is them finding the way to eventually do that. Yes it sounds stupid, but that's clearly how this manga advertises itself.
