Literature about incest

Jannies, read the full thread before banning me.
This is not a request for porn, it's a serious thread.
I'm looking for literature that looks at incest across cultures and what effects it had on social structure, families and the given culture itself.
I'm also looking for psychology literature that explores incest and what its impact on the human psyche and development is (not talking about abuse, rape or molestation, those are separate issues and there's a lot of other research on them).
There's a lot of incest in the mythologies of the world and often appears in fiction and even in quite a few classics, but I've never come across literature that addresses that properly, it's always dismissed or rationalized in a way that seems reductionist to me. Given the current trends in porn and erotic literature, I decided that I want to learn more about something which seems to be low-key everywhere and yet evades mainstream attention and analysis.

Game of thrones (bones lol)
Bump but I am requesting porn lol

Game of Thrones is the perfect example of the low-key pervasiveness of incest even in mainstream media, yet it magically avoids explicit attention. I want studies and hypotheses and historical examples and different views of it based on cultural backgrounds. Something's up there, and I want more information before I start theorizing.

Blessed thread
Idk anything about incest Yea Forums, but I'm betting Freud might have something on it? I'd say Odepius, but that's a surface level normie story. In got, it's definitely not shown in a positive light, as cersei is fucked in the head and jamie only fixes himself when he stops slamming her poon. Interesting thing to note is that GRRM said he was originally planning on making jon and arya have an incestuous relationship to mirror jamie and cersei. I hope you get some answers OP, my fren

I ordered a copy of Nabokov's Ada the other day. But for porn', I would not have this fetish for incest.

thanks fren, I hope so too
I find it odd that it's so difficult to source quality (non-fiction) lit on this topic

Neither do I. What I've heard is that it's more common for only children to have it, and almost no people with siblings(relatively speaking) are into the idea

This is a mystery lost in the annals of Plato, sadly.

The most interesting question to me is the pervasiveness in the creation myths of the world. In truth, I really believe this constitutes some kind of high "mystery" only acessible to the initiated or some stuff like that, so I will wait for a more knowledgeable user to jump aboard.
But that said;
More baffling yet is the contraposition of our contemporary genetic knowledege of its propension for breeding aberrations.
Were ancient people THAT dumb?
I mean, they raised dogs and horses, so I suppose in a few generations they would see bad shit happening. And still why did they think that in a PRIMORDIAL world
(at least) things should NECESSARILY play out this way?
What is the possible meaning (if any)
of this kind of fable?

PS:(A friend made this incest question a while ago; I changed subjects, unconfortable; I'm still perplexed though)

we anti-chud here sorry faggot

Anybody remember the thread with OP talking about his incestuous relationship with his arthoe sister?

Bruh you better start digging into the archives and hook your boy up with a link.

God bless you my nigga.

Surely there's some hot take on Arthurian legends that wallows in the incest part.

that was his nickname back when he would chase me into his closet and fondle me (his nephew here). The cum-on man

The incest in creation myths is a reflection of metaphysical necessity. There is not more than one progenitor deity so there has to be 'incest' somewhere to account for the multiplicity of things that exist.

lev-strauss writes about this in his understanding of marriage taboos.

Really look into marriage customs and rules throughout cultures and this should get you into the right area of research.

>lev-strauss writes about this in his understanding of marriage taboos.
Quick rundown?

Also, interesting noticing that Plato in his Ideal State have no qualms about sibling's incest, the only restriction he makes is generational (about genitors and stuff).
What did he mean by that?

I read in some text book that incest is one of the few taboo sexual acts across cultures, it seems our biological imperative discourages it overall. Don't have any other literature about the subject unfortunately, my dick can only do so much research

my mother bataille

I meant that I have such a fetish precisely because of pornography - although I wonder to what extent my mother's emotional incest (and her rift with my father and the resulting familial chaos) is another contributing cause. Incest has been a fetish of mine since high-school, although I first wondered about it in sixth grade, I remember. Incest erotica and fauxcest POV shit were my jam until I finally quit indulging in smut and self-abuse. I must admit that the fetish, combined with a heavy stream of alcohol and a few prescription drugs, stretched my sense of sexual morality for a while, though I never acted on it except in private, lonely acts of onanism and fantasy.

Do you think OP was telling the truth?

It was dissapointed to you bc you are searching, not porn, but something to jack off too. But Totem & Taboo... read it.

thanks for the suggestion, this is exactly what I need more of
precisely, I think is on to something and yes, ancient people did know that incest produces offspring with problems a couple of generations down the line, I think though many of the religious rules prohibiting incest are attempts at controlling society into not doing it so that populations don't become genetically fucked up over time.
I am interested in what role incest will have to play in future society as sex and procreation have been separated and there's a case to be made for incestuous sex as sex ed., forming expectations and values for future relationships, and protection from emotional trauma

>Many of Wagner's concepts, including his speculation about dreams, predated their investigation by Sigmund Freud.[230] Wagner had publicly analysed the Oedipus myth before Freud was born in terms of its psychological significance, insisting that incestuous desires are natural and normal, and perceptively exhibiting the relationship between sexuality and anxiety.

See Die Walkure for Wagner's own incest myth (which Marx and Engels formed their own theories on the family against).

Basically marriage laws are structural and formulaic within a culture. Incest isn't a big bad for one generation at all but two it is. First cousin marriages are normal in Arabia - I think the taboo is from Leviticus in the West.

that sounds really interesting, I'm getting right on it

Also: Aragorn technically fucks his own (step-)sister.

I remember reading many years back of some alleged belief in Japan that twins are reincarnated lovers that couldn't be together in past life, but I don't know where one would go to confirm or rebut that.
My example of fiction featuring incestuous couple (major spoiler actually) is just police mystery, Caroline Graham's The Killings at Badger's Drift, if one feels like reading something light.

The series of essays called On the Cockney School of Poetry is largely centered around an attack on the presentation of incest in a poem by Leigh Hunt, a friend of Keats. It compares his presentation of the subject with other examples that the author believes are much better. The debate eventually lead to someone being killed in a duel.

Wow.

Racine's Phèdre, Denkart and the Rivayat accompanying the Dadestan i Denig are the best

Pretty sure Game of Thrones is why incest porn exploded in the last decade. You can't go on a porn site without seeing three incest recommendations

I've stopped cooming (hopefully for good), but there is something terribly alluring and exciting about the fantasy - its transgressive nature and the idea of the most intense kind of intimacy being so near at hand with someone with whom one is already intimate.

Npc behavior. Your friend is on a higher brain level then you sorry bro *thumbs down*

>tfw stepsister said it was weird that there aren't more stepsibling romances in movies

Hot.

There might be some exception to the rule. Off the top of my head I remember Cleopatra had to marry first one, then another of her brothers. They both died very quickly and under suspicious circumstances, supposedly Cleopatra herself had her hand in it.
Then there is also common motif in fiction of cousins marrying, but no one really elaborated if there were some first cousins or only those further down the line. Only in one Fantomas book there was marriage where the authors pointed out it was between first cousins, but discouraged by people around them and produced a retarded son.

>I really believe this constitutes some kind of high "mystery" only acessible to the initiated
Something interesting about mystery cults, initiations, saturnalia, occult study, numerology, esotericism, etc is that they have a common origin. To understand why mythological figures practiced incest, you have to understand who essentially "created" these figures and what that says about them. Who, in the ancient world, actually had the power to spread and enforce beliefs but the wealthiest priest class and the monarchs? This obviously doesn't apply to every world religion but there's a reason they share so many similarities, and it's not due to the stars in the sky or coincidence or magic mushrooms: it's because they share the same priest class under a different name.

That priest class exists to this day by the way and love to share and relish in the depravity practiced for millennia. They create tantalizing taboos as dangling fish for their subjects to latch onto, allowing them to use suckers as examples for the next generation of purity campaigns. The desire to reform is powerful as society crumbles and it is useful to direct angry mobs to meaningless issues like incest and, well, I tihnk you know the rest.
>contemporary genetic knowledege of its propension for breeding aberrations
Ask yourself if these risks for abomination outweigh the benefits of keeping it in the family. For those of means, marrying a cousin or even a sister means consolidating family wealth so it doesn't spread. Money is power so incest is power; ask the Habsburgs, for example. Ask yourself who practices incest so much, and assuming you guessed the right people, ask yourself if a certain class of them ignores the rules they publically promote. Ask yourself if these people might actually be the remnants of what is thought to be a long dead civilization that are known for seafaring, explaining why there is a pervasiveness and similarity to many cultures worldwide that are impossible to understand without some sort of lost knowledge of contact being covered up.
To be fair, family love is the most ideally pure. But that is supposed to be in a different form than the carnal. It makes sense, to some degree, for the purest love to be consummated, no? The question is in what form. Matters of love are far from the mind of the people I'm talking about. They live sad, empty, hungry lives and I hope they realize their mistakes some day because they can change.

quite schizo but also some interesting takes that I happen to agree with/want to explore in terms of psychology and impact on individuals
such as - if we remove abuse/molestation from the picture and talk only about consentual relationships, won't it be much safer and healthier if someone's first time is in a safe environment with someone they trust and know and already have an emotional connection with, not to mention building expectations of what to look for in other relationships (in terms of support and love)
it also sounds logical that since it would gratify the sexual needs of those who practice it, it would result in fewer instances of cheating or going through multiple partners early in life

Byron Manfred

You're thinking of sodomy and countless other immoral acts. Incest was sometimes even accepted as desirable depending on the rank of the family, sodomy, rape, licentiousness, etc., has never been. You picked the one example that is actually outright not transcultural, when there are countless others that actually are.

what does it have to do with the topic?

bump

I think it's about his daughter's leaked diary that said she was abused or something

It’s probably hard to find because to anyone with a sibling it would be impossible to write about without constantly triggering the gag reflex and ultimately destroying any relationship they had with their siblings if it were published.

blatantly untrue
