I'd live in a place like that especially the outskirts. Any information I want to learn about the world or history can be obtained either online or from ordering books both digital and physical so there is much less need to actually travel. A lot of the "excitement" of the cities is actually hedonism and violent crime. A lot of the "boring" aspects of country life are actually signs of stability.
Also at that village, I could be friends with benefits with both Mion and Shion.

Honest answer, no. I stopped through there when I was in Japan and if anybody here actually does want to live there, I saw a lot of houses with regular roofs that looked pretty vacant. You could probably pick up some real estate for relatively cheap if you can figure out a visa to move there.
