Character development is fine, but putting off any progression for dozens of chapter just so AMJC+LH could remain in a completely reactive role and Eren alone could steer the plot in the final arc is, well, kind of unsatisfying. Someone a couple of months back mentioned that Armin and co.'s misadventures in 124-125 felt like a JRPG party doubling back before fighting the final boss to finish all the game's side quests. Its starting to feel like that's the same mental state Isayama is in right now: like he's running through a rote checklist of story beats and character notes he wants to hit on to give proper closure.

I'm not saying I would necessarily prefer it be left out of the story since I generally think a more complete ending is best. But the execution so far is lacking.
