Look at Neverland, it still selling despite dropping in quality way longer and way worse than kimetsu. These two are quite short so people don't find it's a problem to see how they end. Long runnings on the other hand are affected more from the drop.

I hate BNHA but I liked it for the first 50 chapters and thought it was okay for the next 100 before I really started hating it. Binging the first 150 helped, but also Horikoshi is really good at copying the surface of a good manga - cool poses, cool characters, with designs that trick you into thinking they have a future. Especially anime onlies who take one year breaks in between the cancer to forget the shitty parts, who only care about spectacle won't notice that what Hori is best at is creating promises - but he is the worst at delivering.
