Man there really aren't too many good apocalyptic manga are there? Well, I say "good" but there are a lot of insane fun ones but you only rarely get ones that hammer in just how fucked everything is in a more serious tone.

This really went to shit when they started to introduce the kurusu and those zombie tower things

Every post-apocalyptic manga requires the protagonist to survive via some method that other people haven't used and so died. So it rapidly becomes the author's personal opinions on soceity and how to survive.

Agree, i like to think that it ended when they escaped the mall.

>Zombie media
>Main threat isnt the zombies/apocalypse/whatever caused it, but other humans

>read that chinese one with the guy returning to the D-Day as a teenager
>he tries to change many things and save as many as he can
>he uses what he know about zombies to survive and kill many
>survivors dying all around him and he only cares to save a few
>hes the first to get powered up by the zombies so everyone else act like normal humans and pose no threat to him

>latests chapters are all about gangs and cultivation and gang wars wanting to become the first guys to reach level 3 or some shit
>the few untouched survivors pocket only exist to show a new monster or new power or new treat or to add 1(one) new member to MC group

Man fuck this shit why are asians and westerns so obssesed with this?

Jigoku no Alice gets a bit zany but things are pretty fucked

Wasted potential imo it couldve been great but towards the end it fell off hard otherwise though great world and characters

george romero
that's just because zombies are an easy way to remove society from a given work, when it's gone the author can explore how people might act when there are no rules. they basically all just retell lord of the flies. horror where humans unite to stop a threat normally involves demons, vampires or aliens instead. have you ever watched pic related? it's one of my favourite zombie works that involves zombies instead of people being the primary problem, although the zombies aren't mindless so maybe it doesn't count.

>zombie tower things
Is my brain wrong or was there really giant merged zombie monsters where everyone was psychically linked like it was the next step in human evolution.

wow its almost like people are terribly shitty individuals or something

Those zombies are different because they're literally immortal

still better than walking dead nagging retard wife of the MC

It's to completely miss the flavor of the zombie genre, but I guess it has its fans.

The first Kurusu is cute tho

what i hated the most was the buildup of MC sniping skills and his fortress of death or wathever, and they had to fucking ruin it by having an exiled army of not-so innocent kids lay siege to it just because the leader wanted to save and bring the sniper into his ranks, really? is that the best ending you can make from a city full of corrupt and evil people? also the whole Alice doll thing just ends like nothing too, fucking wasted potential.

Ok lets make an ideas thread, what would you add to an apocalyptic plot to make it good without falling into shit.

Is JAGAAAAAN post apocalyptic?

its post-outbreak for sure, though a different one.
Society hasnt crumbled though, so I guess it isnt. not yet at least

Zombies really can't handle long running stories they only work in short doses with movies

You can always have just pure, dumb luck

I know this doesnt address your question OP but I want more like this:

Hakaiju
Gantz
Mahou Shoujo of the end
Jagaaaan (maybe)

tell me

Jinmen
Tokyo Dragon
Dolly Kill Kill
Attack on Cock

I too am a slut for weird body horror apocalypse manga

Oh, and Bio Meat Nectar

Thanks!!

Yeah I really wish we couldve seen more of the other settlements as well

Desert Punk was a good post apocalyptic read, for awhile.
Best part is the main character isnt a good person, in fact hes a huge asshole

>It's to completely miss the flavor of the zombie genre
Like what? Usually the stuff I watch the humans always turnout to be a bigger threat because after a while zombies become too predictable.

I started reading I Am a Hero completely cold and unmarketed, like without even having seen the volume covers. Having it develop organically into a sci-fi apocalypse (starting from what was apparently a hallucinatory psychological manga) was fucking amazing and it's one of those things that just won't happen again.

I fucking love RotLD but I'd say people are still the primary "problem", given that the zombies are basically an ecological disaster that the humans keep making worse and worse through laziness/self-centeredness/complacency/ignorance.

>no firepunch

I am a Hero was good until those zombie tower things. Also author has some really wierd fetishes that I'm not a fan of.
Never really discovered super serious ones, but HOTD had the potential to become one, to bad the author is fucking dead and it's forever unfinished.

i like dragonhead

Apocalypse no Toride was really good, got rushed to end though which sucked.
Also if you stretch the definition, YKK is post-apocalypse.

Is it just me or did anyone else starting to get disgusted about japanese society when reading the first chapters of this? I had similar reaction with Downfall.
I do like reading manga but i never want to live there

Read Apocalypse no Toride.

It's the most fucking bromance zombie apocalypse. The asshole guy who sends out the MCs to scavenge for shit ends up being one of the coolest dudes. It does this thing that I haven't seen any other zombie apocalypse manga do in that it took effort into making all of the characters actually likable and not just evil dickbags being evil dickbags.

AnT has one of the most reasonable survivor casts I've ever seen.

Like it's a prison full of juvenile criminals but everyone works together anyways because why the fuck wouldn't they.

All sniping scenes in this are amazing. The rest is bullcrap.

yeah but it was an alien hivemind that invaded earth

I got it, but I reached the end of the scanlations and didn't keep up with it, so I don't remember or know how it ended

so what are the good zombie manga?

does post apoc counts?
Shinsekai Yori is good
