I liked Rei and Rino, I thought they were built up quite nicely and their dynamic was entertaining. I feel like the hate towards him is subliminal because of his resemblance to Sasuke. He doesn't really do any ninja shit, nigga just ran fast for the most part.

You may be onto something. My brain wanted to cram "naruto" somewhere in that initial angry post but I really couldn't justify it after I actually thought more about it.

I don't really "hate" him, but he does kind of piss me off when I think about him. Nezu was my most hyped fighter going into the tournament, and he didn't just beat him, but he fucking one tapped him. I was also rooting for Saw, and I honestly think Rei should have lost that match.

Every single fight so far in Omega has either happened off screen or was a 2 pages beatdown anyway.

There's no fucking way Setsuna isn't doing some shit, the dude also knows the niko style and has connections to "that man". Who wants to bet he's in purgatory?

He just wasn't that interesting to me when most of his fighting was just "zoom in real fast" or "throw punches really fast", and he didn't have a lot of moments interacting with the rest of the cast outside of his waifu like other stoic types like Gaolang got.
And yeah I'll admit the Nezu fight annoyed me, no other fighter got shit on that hard. Even Murobuchi landed a half-decent hit on Wakatsuki before going down and tanked a punch.

Saw hard-countered Rei, but he was simply outclassed. I think people underrate Rei because he got clapped by the Beard, but they forget that the Beard pretty much claps anyone whose techniques he's already seen. Rei was ridiculously strong and was actively trying to not kill Saw in the fight.

Come to think of it, does Worm not know about Setsuna and the tiger man? That's what would seem to imply.

I don't know if I'd call knowing a random headbutt countering technique outclassing but yeah, Rei's strong. Personally I can't stand his looks and his personality, I don't much care for how proficient he is.

It's a bit of an odd contradiction. Ranjo and Ohma's conversation almost 100% confirms that Tigerman is still alive or at minimum was the one to teach them the Niko style, but despite Tigerman training Setsuna it doesn't seem like they know about him.
Setsuna didn't seem like he was taught everything though, so maybe they don't count him because of that.

To add onto this, it's why I have a sneaking suspicion that the hooded guy/Solidus Ohma is actually Tigerman uploaded into a new body.

I'm not sure this is totally true, while Saw did have the advantage, Rei's speed made it very difficult to land a hit, and given the Saw didn't have any grappling techniques, it meant it was very difficult to do any real damage. That said, people like to fellate Gensai for his victory over Rei, effectively using Rei's speed against him, but they always distinctly forget that that's literally what Saw was trying (and almost succeeded) in doing to Rei, he just fucked up the timing both times and his counter got countered. Saw really deserves way more credit.
It might of been the case that Tigerman just used Setsuna to fuck with the other Niko, rather than actually have him be any other part of their grand plan. Though it does seem weird that they'd just leave Setsuna alive.

People can't appreciate buildup for the inevitable actually meaningful fights in the tournament, just want to jump straight to Ohma bodying nobodies in underground matches despite this manga working with completely different motivations and characters.

Maybe he IS the "tiger" or current vessel, and the current recognized master of the Niko style, which excludes him from the discussion of "heirs" to the style.

This makes sense, it's just weird to call yourself Tiger's vessel when you are the tiger.

Maybe Tigerman is pulling another "Niko" and trying to gave multiple "Tiger's vessels". Stupid? A little, but it is a decent strategy, at least one of your vessels won't fuck up.

I don't really care about suspension of disbelief because Ohma started out with a shonen power and most of the fighters are gimmick tier, but specifically bringing back Ohma feels cheap with how much buildup there was before his death.
The sci-fi shit also felt like it was mostly a side thing to rationalise unique fights or characters, but in this manga the cloning stuff feels like it's a pretty core part of the story, which is why some people might be more annoyed.

Leaving aside the doctor, that was indeed out of Sukeban Chainsaw, the rest were simply exaggerated feats of strenght.
Adding sci-fi cloning stuff is not so much jumping the shark but breaking the style of the manga, of what you can and cannot expect from the stablished world.
And this is leaving aside ruining the dramatic effect of Ohmas death

Could be, but it's a little weird that Tigerman would invest as much as he did into Setsuna for no reason, both teaching him the Niko style(including one of the two ultimate techniques that even Ohma doesn't seem to know), and directing him to go learn another powerful style.

Hanafusa was funny, but he got a little too obnoxious with the dissecting shtick. I remember a span of chapters where he repeated that joke like 10 times. His first appearance with him looking through a book of children that died under his care was hilarious though.

We also had Muteba predator eyeballs and secret full plate metal home defense systems. The world was already pretty high tech.

Agito's one of my favorites too, his autism over Okubo's references sold me on him.

I hope he isn't nerfed now that he's slightly less autistic.

At the moment we don't really know how, or even if, Ohma is truly back, remember we're dealing with a group of impersonators. Plus, we only have one definite case of cloning, another could straight up be a eugenics program, where someone decided to spread their seed in the "inside" so as to raise strong heirs. Honestly, I sometimes wonder if the meeting between Niko and Ohma was truly chance, or part of a grander strategy. Spread your seed in different regions, if the kid is strong enough, have one of your nikos teach them. Combine technique, genetics, and survival instincts while also playing the probability game. I do think it's best to wait on the explanation of Ohma's current appearance.
It seems Tokita Niko wasn't a jobber, and might've been a thorn in Tiger's side. If it really was the case that Setsuna was taught to eventually help take out Niko, then it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.

I can also see that, I suppose. Setsuna could have also been raised to just be an opponent for Ohma to kill to fuel his growth/turn him to the dark side of the force, which would explain Tigerman training him in the Niko style but not -too- well.

It's entirely possible that Sandrovich pulls this ship around somehow and Ohma being back holds some grand twist in itself, and I'm willing to give the writer a chance, but it seems like it'd be a difficult thing to make satisfying in the end, and I'd really have preferred Ohma stayed dead even if that's fake pretend Ohma.

I'm fine with Ohma coming back as long as he takes a backseat and isn't involved in the competition, him being involved is just a recipe for disappointment. Either he wins and it's underwhelming because "of course he won he's Ohma" or he loses and he's relegated to a plot device to prop up some other character. Pretty much the same reason I don't want Kuroki back.

What bothers me is that, by leaving the scene with the revelation of Ohma being alive before explaining his being alive, it deflates much of the apparent purpose of any part of that scene. Why should it matter that Ohma showed up then if the mysteries can be explained at any time and if it doesn't matter that much that they didn't catch Xia? Nothing needed to be explained or given to Kazuo and, also, Retsudou's gang needed nothing from him. So, it's just as well that Ohma could have appeared earlier in the narrative (at the Yamashita household when Xia was there, or when Xia was stealing the hair, whenever) or popped up only much later in the narrative, leaving this particular mission to just Raian and Retsudo if the fact that he's alive is so big a secret that nobody could tell even Kazuo for 2 years. No matter how you look at it, there's no reason why Ohma has special cause to be in Kengan Omega *at that moment*.

Did fucking Hideki Nogi know as well? If so, why would he of all people keep Ohma being alive a secret for 2 years from Kazuo?

And considering that Raian has been MIA for the past 2 years, I'd also like to know why he's in on this whole secret Ohma mission.

Now he survived being killed, and there's only two ways to go : breaking from the trauma, or growing albeit jaded. Because plunging into this dark underground shit, I don't see Koga being able to remain as happy as he was before.
If along the way we get to see Koga's first kill (accidental or wanted) We'll get a "rise and fall and redemption of Koga" and I can see that being a solid storyline for the manga.

I don't hate him, he was quite entertaining and one of the few characters that was fang leve that was introduced from the beginning, but he is an incomplete character, like rihito, his arc is not finished, he went from being untouchable, to experiencing a real fight, to realizing that his style is incomplete and needs to change in order to improve (I belive that he would be even stronger if he could take away his mental burden of not wanting to kill his opponent by developing a non lethal version like he said)

Under Takakaze, Gensai is asked to enter into the tournament specifically as a failsafe to prevent Agito from winning if no one else manages to beat him. Takakaze must be told in advance that, if he wins, he has to elect anyone other than Metsudo, and possibly be told the reason behind that.

That's a whole lot of absurdity that fucks with the presentation of the previous manga.

There will be danger, and tension, and conflict. He doesn't need to be in mortal danger, since we know Cosmo likes to win, the stake is whether or not he'll win, not die. Edward wants to kill Kure, not randos, so Cosmo wouldn't be in mortal danger, but he could still get his ass handled.

But Omega is a thing so it was incredibly obvious that Ohma was either not permanently dead or going to be brought back in some form. His importance to the story's unfolding cohesively basically guaranteed it

All of the character development of characters like Agito, Rihito, Kazzy, Saw, Gensai...nearly everyone's character development
The vast majority of the cool fights
Koga and Ryuki's development and relationship with each other
Kazzy's two year long leadership and development into the fucking Dragon
Me wanting to fuck most of the Kengan ladies
Most of, and arguably the best parts, KA and KO, are still totally unchanged by this reveal.

Itagaki didn't know what he was trying to do with Retsu in the first place, thats why we have the half baked boxing arc and then he was set up to job to musashi anyway. Retsu's existence, while beloved, was also becoming increasingly obsolete so while I was sad to see him go it didn't really ultimately matter what happened to him.

Ohma is literally still important to the story. He is literally still involved in all of those things, and it was clear by the way specific things were written that he wasn't really gone to begin with. Once you've made that distinction then things get a lot clearer.

Ohma being alive invalidates
- all development from Ohma, fighting while knowing he will die
- all death flags and the relationships that were formed around it
- all the tension and emotional catharsis of Ohma's lategame fights, especially with Gensai
- Ohma's resolution with Setsuna
And literally many more I could type but I'm at work and my break's almost over. It was objectively not a good thing.

The tension is somewhat valid, but his resolution didn't change because he WAS going to die, he had no fucking clue that Karla and Crazy Doc were gonna try to revive him. From his point of view he was going to die and give it his all, so I don't think it changes his resolution at all.
