what someone thinks is "trashy writing" is subjective. What properties you value in art necessarily differs from another person. You can still like an anime while thinking it's flawed. It doesn't change the fact that your assessment of it is dependent on your subjective worldview/how you value art. I love the anime Sketchbook because I think it is well written. However, I know my friend wouldn't because he values consistent and beautiful art above how good the script of a given show is. So while I think the art in sketchbook is pretty good, I know he wouldn't because it doesn't meet his standards which again are subjective.
Regardless of what you believe, your opinion on anime is just that, your opinion. Subjectivity does not depend on whether or not you believe it to be subjective. It is about an observable distinction which you might call objective. ie the epistemological, observable characteristics of a given thing versus how someone feels about that given thing.
