A literal smooth-brain opinion. Ep. 24 is the damning evidence of NGE's production absolutely falling apart in the end.
Kaworu shows up for ten minutes, has 30 seconds of screentime with Shinji, goes, "I'm an angel, lmao," and Shinji flips his shit like it's Rei or Asuka who told him that, not some literally who. It's fucking laughable.
Of course, Anno had a legit plan to introduce Kaworu as a school mate earlier, have him bond with Shinji over multiple episodes, and then have the reveal that is actually impactful.
But that's not what happened, what happened was Anno was too late to realize he can't count to 26, so he went, "whatever, let's do this shit in one episode, and then I'll keep talking in the interviews about how important Kaworu is until retards start believing it."
