I don't group 1 with other parts because I feel like it's too different to compare. I like it, it's fun, but it's a little difficult to rank it when it feels more like a lore piece than anything

Probably more accurate to call it a prologue, as the next 5 parts are fragmented from the repercussions of Dio and the Mask

To tell you the honest truth, I think I'd like Part 2 much more if the story was better, particularly the ending.
The characters are the highlight, but the whole thing is soured by the horrendous story beats.
I enjoyed and tolerated most things up until the battle with Wamuu, at which point I stopped enjoying anything

For me I also like the format. Once the Pillar men are introduced we have all the enemies we need to know in front of us. There are no boring roadblock enemies, just 3 powerful beings that will have to be defeated in some crafty way. It also has the most powerful enemy.

Part 8's characters are incredibly obnoxious. I don't know what Araki was thinking or how he expects people to give a shit about them. Norisuke is the only decent member of the Higashikatas and he seems pretty dead at this point, Gappy is bland and Yasuho just can't catch a break, getting tortured or creeped on almost every other chapter.
