The others existed just to suffer despite being more interesting (less hot, though). No twist, no change of heart in the MC, no reveal of some sort, no doubts on which girl to chose: basically it was an extremely slow straightforward romance with a sudden resolution and cute girls suffering as collateral damage.
In the end it was never about "wich girl do I like?", it was about "do I like this one specific girl?". In a way it's a choice that makes the concept of competition and "harem" itself pretty meaningless, so it was a safe ending in that way.
