Just finished the manga. I guess I'm okay with the ending. Super fucking bothered by the fates of a particular few characters, though. Did Q Hayashida hate them that much?

Yeah I always imagined Aikawa would sound like a rumbustious chad (versus Caiman sounding like a rumbustious halfwit). But I guess it makes sense he sounded worried about his boy.

I just want to see En's people, characters that seem to have some depth, something going on in their lives, plans and goals. Every time they show up on the screen something new and interesting happens. Every time Kaiman shows up on the screen he is just being a bumbling idiot wandering around aimlessly and eating gyoza.
You have some cool shit going on, then it cuts to Kaiman and it's a snoozefest.

Ironically, the series did this on purpose.

Kaiman is supposed to be a dumb asshole. This is an intentional decision.

I am not sure what's ironic about it. Kaiman should get less focus, he should be one of the background characters doing something that you don't need to see.
It's weird that he seems to be the main character. Nothing really has happened with Kaiman in the last 8 episodes. Going to the sorcerer's world was supposed to be this big deal, but all he did was stab a cab driver in the back and then went home.

Turkey is surprisingly pretty cute too.

Every character is silly, unlikable, eccentric, and murderous to a degree. En family included. They just have the benefit of being an established tight-knit group from the get-go, so it's more engaging watching them bounce off each other. But Kaiman rather, his identity ×4 does end up getting the most depth in the series.

the anime skipped a lot of kaiman personal moments and self reflection.
But also he's supposed to be a bit flat, because he's a personality created only recently when Ebisu's smoke affected him, and he is a mix of Holey's hatred for sorcerors ad Aikawa's support for his friends.

Asu is extremely brutal, it's pretty great.

Fun fact: Chidaruma named him Asu literally because he is an ass.

He only knew Kasukabe for like a week at that point, Vaux was just his boss here too.

Chidarume chooses the devil names from the original names Kanji, Second character in Kawajiri means butt, First character in Kasukabe means Puberty and reads as Haru

Still upset they cut this. Actually they've cut a couple of Caiman scenes like the boxing chapter, training with Nikaido, the wandering around in the professor's mansion. That plus his anime face doesn't doesn't show the variety of his expressions make him seem unsympathetic and boring compared to the manga. Most animeonlys get the impression that he's just an asshole thirsting for blood but he's actually really a simple lonely guy looking for his memories and face with what little tools he has.
You'll see later that his meeting with Tanba and Fukayama changes his perception on good sorcerers in general. Also beyond his silliness he actually really cares about Nikaido and they share good chemistry.
