>have a crush on Lelouch your entire life >willingly cuck yourself to Shirley because you love Shirley as a friend and want her to have her happy ending >Shirley just fucking dies and it was all for nothing
We don't talk enough about what a shitty deal Milly got.
We don't talk enough about Milly period. Only character with common sense. Glad she got a real job after taking rich professor's money and not marrying and told all other shitheads to fuck off.
Colton Brown
>Lust after the prince as a noble herself >Childhood friend The game was over for her. She was the most reasonable pick for lelouch
Nolan Taylor
You forget when she gets to see her childhood friend become a mad tyrant worse than his father and then fucking die.
Adam Sanders
>have a crush on Lelouch your entire life What? Did we even watch the same show?
David Jones
Bro can you really not read between the lines?
Parker Myers
She should have supported Kaguya's plans.
Isaac Taylor
Since when does reading between the lines equate to literally headcanon?

I have to get something off my chest. I LOVED Shirley. I dearly miss her. Her dying eyes are burned into my memory, her final gaze haunting me forever. Her warm grip loosening and turning cold, leaving my side forever. The deafening echo of her arm falling into her coffin of blood, never to caress my face again ever.
My entire world collapsed down with her arm, my heart and soul ripped out. Color stolen from my life, all but red dyed out.
Asher Taylor
Shirley was to naive.
Ryder Fisher
Milly does not have a crush on Lelouch. Movies are non-canon.
Jason Scott
Probably my most unpopular Geass opinion is that Shirley should have died during the Mao arc and we should have gotten a Lelouch/Milly romance during the rest of the first season and R2. Shirley's entire character arc is finished after the Mao arc. And even then, how good an arc is it? She exists solely to be a victim of Lelouch's schemes.
It would have been more interesting to see Milly wrestle with her feelings for Lelouch, worry that she was dishonoring her dead friend, and then slowly slip into a romance with him in spite of herself.
>She exists solely to be a victim of Lelouch's schemes. I disagree. Lelouch does everything he can to keep her safe and out of the chaos after the Mao arc. The Geass-canceler was a real Deus Ex Machina (or a Black Swan, for those who can suspend their disbelief), and what ensued after its debut was nothing but tragedy.
Jack Wright
>Probably my most unpopular Geass opinion is that Shirley should have died during the Mao arc I agree, however considering what happened to Euphie right afterwards I don't think you could have a believably stable Lelouch for R2. So, either you didn't kill Shirley during S1 or you didn't kill Euphie.
My biggest disappointment about the movies is that they removed Mao and Shirley's death. The whole thing with Mao was great to learn more about CC and to deepen her and Lelouch's relationship a bit further. Also, Shirley's death was what made Lelouch's at the end of R2 understandable. Him assaulting the Geass Order without her dying just loses any sense of weight.
Ethan Butler
Points for effort.
Lincoln Fisher
The movies are just a mistake in general. You can't shorten a story like Geass. It's too big, too long, and has too many characters that make an impact on the plot. You can't reduce it to a movie or even three movies. It needs a whole series length to tell the story properly.
>self inserting in the wrong part CHADS only self insert as the singer of the first opening.
Brandon Stewart
I know, even for Lelouch of the Resurrection you didn't need the movies. Shirley's role in them was minor, and could easily have been taken over by some other character.

Her family originally planned to marry her off to Lelouch back when he was a prince, but the engagement got canceled after Lelouch was exiled after Marianne was killed. They don't meet again until later in the series where him and Nunally take up different names in Ashford. There was a reason why she went to Lelouch for advice on how to get out of her marriage, plus some of the events specially targeted Lelouch himself, her last attempt was before graduation with the love event where she blatantly ordered the entire school to bring his hat to her so she could win. The whole thing was started in a sound episode which most people don't watch anyway. youtube.com/watch?v=1frMGGs4KdA&t=
Charles Jones
Good job making an effort to post but you could've tried to not butcher my ears with that atrocious dub (no sub=noncanon btw) Also, just because they were arranged to marry as kids doesn't mean she had any feelings for him. It's plenty clear in the love event episode that she's just teasing him. We never see Milly seriously show her desire for Lelouch.
I thought the whole point of the movies was to be non-canon to the original show. Just a what if scenario where Lelouch gets revived and Shirley gets to live.
Brody Wood
The point was to gauge fan interest with a poorly executed cash grab
Easton Bennett
god i miss shitposting with Yea Forums while watching geass episodes live on keyhole
William Russell
That's not wrong, but it's not like they'd be able to make a quality sequel series that has any of the same characters except CC. Code Geass ended so conclusively that it would only be interesting to check up on the world to see how things fuck up down the line. Long after everyone stops being hot.
Ryan Harris

I thought she was that Ojou-sama who whored herself in Guilty Crown.

It was vaguely implied (in Stage 8, for example), but as far as I remember, never explicitly said in the show. However, it was stated in some of the canon material, probably can be found on mononoke tumblr.

>The romance with Suzaku would actually make sense for once Excuse you, it made sense all along anyway
The Valentine's episode from R2 comes to mind. Milly knew Lelouch and Shirley were better off together, but you see her reaction when it's revealed Shirley and Lelouch did swap hats and she has a resigned smile on her face. It was like her one last attempt to see if maybe there was a chance for her, though she knew there wasn't and was happy for Shirley instead. Go and rewatch.
Ethan Jackson
I noticed on a rewatch that while I didn't love Shirley, her departure in both seasons marks the exact point that they go from great to shit
Lincoln Wright
why didn't Gino act during the Afghanistan siege He should be able to beat the jobber king who couldn't even beat Suzaku at his best
Zachary Flores
I don't disagree, but I fond the quality drop more obvious in R2.

>Shirley Isn't she alive in the retcon movie which is canon?

>pretending not to know about Shirley but still calling the movie canon
The movie is fanfiction. The original series was also fanfiction, but it's fanfiction I liked.
Luke Sanders
that's not how arranged political marriages work

>that dub uhh And most people dont watch them because subbers only do the main show and batches dont include them. I have them subbed, but I had to go out of my way to get them.
Joseph Hill
I disagree. One of the good points was the SoL mixed in. They could have switched it around and have slice of life setting with some minor adventure. The european geass fucked with canon already so enjoy time travel now. It was supposed to be something like hypnosis connected to the greater subconscious but now its magic. Its just a cashgtab now.
Samuel Bailey
Her mistake was failing to engage to him more. She was left in the dark most of the show and thus contributed almost nothing to the story. She should have joined him and filled the hole in his heart when pinkshit died. That way she could have persuade him to scrap that idiotic suicidal plan and just remained to rule the world normally.
