I remember back when everyone used to hype this up as this really sad and heartbreaking anime that would kill you inside. I watched it and felt nothing but sheer laughter and frustration at how fucking dumb everything in this show was, from the premise to the characters, to the sheer contrivances in which people die, everything made me laugh. I honestly don't get why people thought the ending was super depressing, I spent most of the time trying to figure out just what the fuck happened before the tidal wave and why the heck the town turned into a desert, lmao.

Just saw this recently, it was interesting and it was obvious the team had a decent idea, but it was very slow and low budget.
Still enjoyable but it could have been way more memorable with better pacing.
