That's easily explained as all his iconic crewmen showing up in Chapter 1 when none of those races were introduced though.

One Piece has been shit after the timeskip, and that's mostly because Big Mom and Kaido are basically filler characters. Looking at the endgame bosses, Shanks is a character that we have known since the beginning, he had a deep emotional connection with Luffy, was part of Roger's crew and definitely knows some shit about the world he's not telling anybody. Teach was introduced as early as Jaya, has some connection to Luffy through Ace and also obviously learned his shit about the One Piece and Devil Fruits. The Admirals are the leaders of the Marines (who have been a major antagonistic force since day one) and the guardians of the WG, who will probably be the final bosses for the series.

But what about Big Mom and Kaido? They're not linked to the WG, not linked to the Straw Hats in any way and not even linked to Laugh Tale. They don't know shit about any of the mysteries of the world, they don't have interesting backstories... They have absolutely nothing going for them. They are two dumb fucking juggernauts who exist solely to stall the plot, make Oda some more bucks and keep us fro seeing the really good stuff of the story. Making the story revolve around these two non-characters for the last 10 years or so was Oda's worst possible decision.

They directly oppose the World Government, and they're the only two villains who have ever even wanted to go to Laugh Tale. Hell, Big Mom's one of the few villains to go directly after a Straw Hat with Sanji. They're some of the MOST involved villains, in terms of backstory, only Big Mom and Doflamingo even fucking get one.

I suppose my problem with Dressrosa versus Alabasta is two fold. Number one: that the fighters, who later become Luffy's affiliate crews, are not very invested in defeating Doflamingo prior to the events of the arc. Only King Riku, Viola, and Kyros. As the other user explained, in Alabasta people already had a problem with Crocodile. The toys had this problem but only one of them was of any significance. Second problem is the setting of Alabasta actually made it an adventure/exploration traversing the desert and the whole lead up to Baroque Works in those previous mini-arcs. We met Ace along the way too and Oda did not rely on him to involve himself against Crocodile.

The problem with giants in One Piece is that they're hyped up as this super strong race but they're pretty much always only used to make human characters look strong & impressive.
Dorry & Brogy made Luffy & Mr.3 look impressive during Little Garden.
John Giant made Whitebeard look impressive during Marineford.
Hajrudin made Luffy look impressive during Dressrosa. And then he struggled against Machvise.
Mountbeard & Fallbeard made Big Mom look impressive during the Elbaf flashback.

And I honestly couldn't read Thriller Bark. The paneling and typeset at that time just gave me headaches. I tried to keep up with it during release but I felt it was a mess from that perspective and since then it has made a bad impression until things cleared up around Kuma's introduction.

In any case, the thing that makes Mom scary in combat isn't even her fruit, she really just uses it to enhance her attacks and get some mobility via Zeus. So even if you counter her fruit, she would probably wreck you.

Why is everyone constantly overrating Zoro? He should be like 800 millions, while Sanji is somewhere around 790 mil. And even that is much more than they deserve, as is Luffy, who got hard shilled into over billion status by Morgans.

The spotlight has been on Luffy the entire time, and its' turned the crew into glorified side characters.
Whole Cake Island was supposed to be Sanji's arc, and he somehow got benched into making a cake for Big Meme (after embarrassing himself with literally everything else he tried to in the arc) while Luffy went toe to toe with Katakuri and got a Haki upgrade.
The story began with Luffy needing help from his crewmates because they pulled their weight and got shit done. Now it's just a one man show with the crew tagging along for the ride.

honestly lack of action. panels are cramped and less dynamic or impactful than they used to be. the storytelling in this arc is also badly excecuted like how the strawhats learned about oden and we didn't leaving us disconnected from their characters. and WAY too much buildup to something that hasnt happened yet because manga takes a whole week to tell 5 minutes worth of story.

I think one of the big errors of post-TS was introducing Kinemon and Momo all the way back on Punk Hazard. No arc should be actively set up with traveling companions for over six years. That's just far, far too long. Imagine if it took six years to get from Whiskey Peak to Alabasta.

The characters in One Piece are fallible. Also, Oda is basically never trying to make a 100% straight trope. So Kaido never was completely invincible, the narrator told us at the start of his intro he's been defeated.
