How is other romance treated? Megumi’s crush on Blue was actually done really well, ending with her bawling her eyes out for realizing that crush went nowhere and gave fuel for Seiji being controlled by Red. It’s not Megumi or the romance’s fault for for Blue being a dick.
Hime’s crush on Seiji probably would have make the love square even more of a mess, but the way it got “resolved” is really disappointing. Why bother bringing that subplot up if the solution is just “lolnope” the hell out of it?

I agree that some further exploration of Iona's feelings towards Phantom after his character development would also be nice, and it's wasted they didn't do that. But at that point, it just comes to HaCha's second half being horribly written. Pretty much nothing lived up to the potential it had.

Then in the end both Seiji and Megumi say they'll give their rocks to their most important person in the future which by the laws of Kodomo and Shounen writing means they'll get together in the end. The part where Hime also had a crush on him but it gets written out alongside all of her other plotlines, which results in some really weird pacing at times (like her kingdom is saved and we just get a still shot out of it and her meeting her parents again, with all of that immediately pushed aside in spite of being a big focus of half of the show. That part is what sours most people on Happiness Charge.
Hime basically drives half of the show and then gets all of her plotlines suddenly sidelined in a very awkward way, and the Megumi show that exists from then on just wasn't as good.

The first half of the show focuses on Hime about her lack of self-esteem, uselessness and guilt for being the one releasing the main villainess and have all of her Kingdom and a lot of other innocent people getting sealed up. Then half way through the season, someone realized that Hime is a blue, not a pink, so the show shifts focus to Megumi and her love triangle, quickly dropping or only resolve halfassedly most of Hime’s subplots.
It would be one thing if Megumi’s focus are done well in exchange, but it didn’t and what we have was a total train wreck with a few nice sakuga moments for pity compensation.

As a professional writer, I must say despite the early and more than usual Marketing focus, HG is off to a good start. We have a likable cast with different and distinctive personalities (Not entirely sold on Chiyu yet), a fun looking group of villains with Daruizen being the serious one and a plot with enough mystery to make it interesting in the long run. The animation is still sub-par like always but you can't ask too much from Toei. The future of HG is looking bright.

Well, that episode was kinda relatable.
When you do your stuff but it is not exactly popular for whatever reason, and then you see someone who is much better and more succesful than you... yeah, that breaks your self-confidence. Poor Ichika.
Still cute how the girls refused to give up and made their way through all those evil magic rumors. I feel like they are growing together.
Bibury may be weak as fuck (like, Yukari almost broke her hand, jeez) but she really adds to the show right away. We finally get the name of the bad guy (but still no clue what he wants with all the Kirakiraru) and see the villain lair, which is kind of a lame place, really. Well, not everyone can have a bowling alley all to themselves. I can tell though, Bibury will be fun - hope her self-proclaimed love for Noir does not ruin her character too much. And I also hope she has a few more scolding pov-shots because of... narrative reasons, yes. And camera angle variety is always good. Uh, yeah.
