We saw in episode 1 that when new particles are detected from the same person, the well just updates even if someone is currently inside. So even though they got 2 different sources of Narihisago's particles, we should still be seeing the same well that Hondomachi is locked in.

Watched all 10 episodes today. I was a bit skeptical at first, since this show had some stupid moments, but I really like it now. (Especially the Perforator and the part of the ED with him in it)
Most stupid moments I remember were around the episodes with the lady who had people locked up in barrels. The older male inspector guy goes into the kitchen and sees that the knives are missing. He then rushes over to the female detective and pushes her out of the way, when suddenly a knife hits him.
So, what, he came to the conclusion that, after they were already in the building casually talking for 15 minutes, someone is gonna throw knives from somewhere?

She wasn't ruthless in the end but actually quite normal (though she spent like 20 minutes there in total, could still go crazy). Also, Nari would have gotten out anyway, but helping him out might have healed him a little and definitely gave Hondo intel.

Obviously the timing is there for dramatic tension but his conclusion isn't all off.

I don't know, at this point the biggest mystery left is the identity of John Walker and his motives, but they have plenty of time to deal with it

They could have tried to pull off a procedural series with more cases not necessarily related to John Walker, but I think that part of the charm of the series is the non existent filler and the strong pacing

I'd like another season, but I think we'd be better off if the series sells well enough and the same staff wants to make a new original anime

Completely ignored the setting in favor of a standard procedural with nonsense mentalist magic and parkour. Plot went nowhere and they didn't even conclude anything because they thought five hours of literally nothing would be great bait to get people into theaters instead of just killing any remaining interest people might have had.

People don't seem to realize that these things work because the characters and their arcs are tailor made to fit the concept in order to fully express the theme. Add to that the fact that exploring the concept to its fullest is usually integral to keeping things fast-paced and interesting and making a continuation where all of that stuff is already out in the open becomes all but impossible to pull off.

The desert version of Narihisago's well seems to be a much more deteriorated and aged version of his lightning well. To me it makes sense that it would have to be from particle samples that were collected after his mental state had deteriorated significantly such as when he was killing other prisoners from his own cell. I don't think the two well samples were collected anywhere near the same time, since the two wells are so physically different. This would also suggest that the desert well particles were planted at Momoki's house to frame him, along with the JW outfit. Also, since this desert sample would be collected after Nari had already become a serial killer, perhaps thats why JW appears inside of it.

After having just been accused of being a serial killer breeder, and learning that someone who knew enough about their organization to orchestrate a framing of JW and move cognition particles at will, and clearly malicious enough to want him out of the picture and to divert the blame of JW onto someone else, someone who it stands to reason could be JW or at least influenced by him, it isn't too far fetched to imagine this person getting their way is a bad result. It's unclear whether or not Momoki knew these were Narihisago's particles but even if he didn't it would make sense for him to worry that someone who clearly knew Narihisago was their diver, and provided them with particles what would seem to be of critical importance, would clearly be setting a trap. And even so, Momoki was the head of the well investigation team, he was probably aware of Narihisago's particles being acquired and put two and two together.

Although we know they can be blown by the wind, and that seems like a highly suggestive hint they dropped episodes ago, I still don't think they moved any particles. I still like the theory the particles were already there, likely from attempted suicide. Like I said earlier, he didn't even have to know whose particles they were to be immediately worried Narihisago was being sent into a well deliberately by someone who wanted to dismantle the well investigation unit from the inside. Momoki was already disposed of, and Momoki was Narihisago's only "friend". It makes complete sense to think, if particles were found, and whoever planted them knew Narihisago was going to be the one diving into them, and they already demonstrated a vested interest in disruption, that Narihisago was an obvious target, and that he was walking into a trap.
For the last point, depending on when they're made cognition particles from the same person are critically different. They might've had Narihisago's particles from one of the many other events where he killed and merely cataloged it, because it wasn't until very recently they had people other than him to dive. It even could've been one of the wells they had the Perforator dive into when they were first putting him in wells. They said they tried like six other wells, and perforator clearly had intimate knowledge of this well.

This is what I was thinking. Pi guy had guessed the numbers meant it was present progressive and that particles update with the person however them both being different times makes more sense. I'm curious if narihisago falling into dogma will mess with hondomachi's side though showing they are still connected currently but initially representing different times.

On the contrary, it doesn't make sense for the particles to be there as it would require Momoki to have killed the guy there (which is at least unnecessary). It's also obvious they will dive into the well, so planting particles from some rando would completely fuck up the attempt at framing him.

I think that has more to do with the underlying structure of how wells work, hence it being Kiki's well, than with Narihisago's chronology only. The time they were sent to might have something to do with when they formed their own wells, Narihisago's when he killed the Challenger and Hondomachi when she drilled herself.

The well in episode 7 was created from 3 year old cognition particles that were taken from Katsuyama's home. The cognition particles found in Momoki's house were planted by John Walker. The Mizuhanome team comments that the well is the end stage of Narihisago's well. Thus, the well in episode 8 was created from cognition particles that were sampled from present Narihisago, and the well was covered in sand over the course of 3 years.

This episode made me realize that I got it wrong a few threads ago. The lightning strikes symbolize his rage that he felt at the time. Narihisago was dead in his well because he would've rather left them and they live on than they die and leave him all alone. That leaves us with what pi was doing in his well other than the date.

I don't get it.

This was all part of his master plan to catch J.W. and save the day. Something I think might be important is that when Nari killed the Killers for Kiki they all killed themselves the way they murdered others, making them "complete". Fukada already drilled a hole in his head though which now feels significant.

She's dying every time they use this contraption/ every time cognition particles are used in it , that's why she is killed by different killers multiple times and that's why it was originally only JW, but as they got more particles and gain access to more wells more killers came to kill her.
