When the series is not being funny it's being heartwarming instead. I like that so much.
Camden Adams
not as funny as the last few chapters, but definitely heartwarming. I really wish Hato-sensei would stop writing chapters that seem like they're a setup to end the series though, especially now that it's actually ranking well.
the mega for anyone catching up: mega.nz
Tyler Brooks
whoops, I'm an idiot. Here's the last page
Carter Hill
thanks for the dump

Thanks user.
So why didn't Mitama just get rid of Rena's spirits when they first met? Right now he's keeping them safe because they're important to her, but back when they met she didn't give two shits about all those spirits.
Nolan Foster
Lol
Alexander Lee
I wonder if maybe the original plan was to have mitama as some sort of bumbling incompetent trying and failing to exorcise spirits throughout the manga.
Charles Cox
Holy shit lmao
Robert Stewart
It really makes me wonder if having Rena Haze steal his spot as the funny character was planned out ahead of time or if was a response to the editor saying "These jokes are retarded, please try something else".
Carson Price
I thought that the joke would be that touching the ball with a foot is a foul.
>"...Baka!"
Mitama is a tsundere confirmed.
William Morales
Soya is tsundere for Mitama
Rena Haze is semi-tsundere for Mitama
Janca is probably tsundere for Samon-kun
Andrew Clark
Janca is tsundere for Rena Haze
Nicholas Gonzalez
That's not tsundere, that's blatant hero worship
Jackson Ross
Rena Haze, Yuko, and Soya all like Mitama, Janca and Detective like Rena
Hudson Allen
he just had a faster turn-around than most tsunderes
Jaxson Jenkins
Whatever the editor told him to do worked out wonderfully.
Samuel Young
That vague spirit threat is like the volcano in Saiki Kusuo. The author set it up a hundred chapters ahead of time so he could flip the switch and give the story closure whenever he felt like it.
Angel Cruz
Cute
Ryder Butler
>170 spirits
>not including Zobiro, Yuko, and the other distinct named spirits
What the fuck Rena, I thought you had 115 at the absolute maximum.
Lincoln Cooper
Janca was right, she's only getting stronger since she started acknowledging her spirits and treating them well
Asher Williams
>why don't you try copying Samon the Summoner
>but this time make the girl the bully summoner
>but just let her do random cute things instead of being an actual bully
Jack Lee
unironically brilliant
Parker Rogers
Are we finally safe from being axed?
And do nips like this series or is it the editor's next Dr. Stone?
William Moore
sales are barely above most of the shit that's gotten axed lately, so it seems likely that it's editor pushing, but it's hard to tell since sales are ~10 chapters behind the ranking until volume 2 comes out
Christian Evans
Jump wouldn't push something if there isn't at least some interest behind it. Otherwise you'd get stuff like Jimoto-ga Japan, Zipman, or Squid8 near the top.
Also keep in mind that One Piece and Haikyuu were absent this week, so its ranking should be more around the middle of the pack.
Connor Garcia
Lets not forget that digital sales aren't tracked, so who knows what's going on there (I think the only thing we do know is that CSM does very well digital-wise, and Yuuna might also).
Landon Long
this is my first read of this series its nice, I'll pick it up
Kayden Hughes
I have a good feeling that the Volume 2 sales will be better. Not great, but definitely improved.
Jose Flores
Mitama used to have a spirit line and maybe some really bad shit went down when he finally exorcised them all at once, so he's making sure not to repeat that same mistake with Rena
How's that for a retcon
Xavier Green
I wouldn't be surprised. The manga had a pretty rocky start so it's not really shocking that the first volume sold poorly, especially since it's a gag series
Dominic Lee
The first few chapters weren't that great so try not to judge it too fast.
Ayden Walker
It gets significantly better after the first 5 chapters or so.
Nolan Lewis
Chapter 4 was the first chapter to get me to smile at a joke.
The Zobiro chapter was the one that finally got me to laugh.
Anthony Howard
Kojime chapter when
Josiah Davis
Dude's gonna lose his mind when he sees all these new weird adult males surrounding Rena. I'd like to see next chapter start where this one left off and show him watching her from afar as Rena meets up with Mitama, who's quickly joined by Soya and Janca
Xavier James
>not the entire interview chapter from Kojime's PoV
I want to see the poor lad suffer some more.
Josiah Hughes
Total mindbreak if he sees her with all of Body
Landon Jones
Even with OP and Haikyuu it'd get pushed to 5th max, that's still a very high ranking and not something they'd give to a series about to get axed.
Lucas Davis
Dude I actually teared up
Xavier Murphy
When does volume 2 come out again?
William Reyes
>Volume 1 is out, Volume 2 comes on 3/4
>1,2,3,4 for short
>Remember 1,2,3,4
This was posted on Pigeon's twitter. I think the author might actually be insane.
Wyatt Jones
>I think the author might actually be insane
Nah, it's just a joke about Japanese studying mnemonics I hope.
Connor Ward
if you only "think" he's insane, you haven't been reading his author comments
Nicholas Green
Because he was afraid of them and his attempts failed. Then he sort of gave up on exorcising the batch and focused only on the dangerous ones for a while, and became genuine friends.
Chase Young
Imagine thinking that the REIpellant Rod and the Spook a Spirit Flag would do anything against spirits
Ethan Foster
For volume 3, who will be the character in the bottom left staring in shock and who will be in the top right?
Samuel Ward
I haven't. I only read that one interview where he met other authors at a New Year's party and they were all surprised he wasn't a woman.
Jace Collins
Mitama and Rena stare in awe at Soya being competent.
Nolan Wright
holy kek, source?
Nathan Lee
the entirety of Body reacting to Zobiro
Juan Hernandez
Alternately, Soya in the corner being completely unfazed despite Zobiro being MENACING on the cover.
Hunter Adams
yomina-hare.com
His first series ran in Jump+ and it looked even more feminine than Mitama Secureity.
Daniel Green
>I wanted to make a manga even more naked than To-Love Ru
lel
Easton Scott
Soya in the top right with Ta and Pi climbing on him unnoticed with Explainer shocked.
Daniel Bell
I know that it means absolutely nothing for a multitude of reasons (fake numbers, western audience, still very shit compared to the rest) but Mitama's numbers on Manga Plus have been significantly improving for a couple of weeks now. It went from being stuck at 7k to suddenly 11k (which are "supposedly" individual IPs).
Owen Ross
>back cover is the same unfazed Soya starring at La Furiosa just floating there
Brody Garcia
At those numbers, any number of factors could have brought in an audience. Maybe even just word ofm outh.
Asher Foster
No wonder I like the humor in Mitama more. The first couple chapters of Samon-kun were just him being malicious to Tesshi for no good reason other than being triggered by good people.
Jack Collins
Of the current crop of comedies, Miitama's probably the least mean spirited. Everybody's an idiot, but they're all very friendly idiots.
Luke Reed
I wonder if it'd have more success if they tried to market it more towards a female audience, it is so comfy and kinda shoujo-like at times desu
Logan Thomas
obviously he needs to convince Gotogue to shill it
Jaxon Robinson
I get the same vibe from Agravity Boys whenever the Higher Being isn't around.
Meanwhile Yozakura can't afford to be nice due to the whole spy action premise, and at the very end of the spectrum you have everyone in Mashle who are all fucking sociopaths.
Jace Lopez
Can any shoujofags out there tell me if this is really like a shoujo manga? The art style makes it come off as one, but I'm not familiar enough with the cliches to tell if it's actually parodying one or not.
Mason Roberts
Writing-wise it's pretty typical for a gag manga for either gender, if it really was more shoujo then Yuko would definitely be treated more serious and there'd be more female characters than just the two.
Grayson Nguyen
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun taught me that they usually feature a perfect Gary Stu hero and an ultra bland, lovestruck heroine. Neither Mitama nor Rena Haze fit that description in the slightest.
I guess Soya kind of fits the asshole love rival role.
Joseph Bailey
Are either of Ta or Pi supposed to be female? I noticed 1 went into the men's bathhouse with Mitama and the other went with Rena and Yuko. I know little kids can go in either, but I was wondering if they split up for a reason
Aaron Nelson
I think I always assumed that Ta was male and Pi was female, but not for any reason
Adam Cox
Shoujo's not all romance, that's just the most prominent genre the same way battle manga dominates shonen.
Michael Scott
Has no one here watched Sabagebu? The manga was in a shoujo magazine.
William Sullivan
Rena calls them Ta-bu and Pi-chan in the raws, so is correct.
Asher Morales
No kidding? I never realized that. I hope that the author doesn't give them some super tragic backstory. Just them being child spirits leads me to believe it's impossible for it to not be sad, but I'm not mentally prepared for the feels.
I can't wait to learn more about Zobiro's past. Body even seemed pretty interested in him in particular.
Lucas Reyes
>I hope that the author doesn't give them some super tragic backstory.
They were hiking looking for eggplants when they got mauled by a polar bear and a pterodactyl.
Levi Russell
Yeah, the almost destined dark arc that deals with the sources of all the spirits has a great chance of being rough emotionally.
Adam Morgan
>psycho pigeon not giving them a tragic backstory
>in a series where the heroine's powers are triggered by how much she cares for her spirit family
You better prepare yourself for the inevitable.
Joshua Walker
I'm that user and I've read a fair amount of shoujos and obviously I'm not talking about romance series, but some chapters especially lately definitely do give me that vibe at times desu.
Gavin Cruz
I bet the editor told Pigeon to stop making his feMC so gloomy. Re-reading the first few chapter is sort of depressing compared to what we get nowadays
Luis Moore
Yuko's cause of death: getting truck-kun'd on her way to confessing to her crush
Easton Cruz
Well it was easier for her character to stop feeling so gloomy once she started becoming friends with her spirits rather than ignoring them all or being slightly afraid. She went from having basically no friends and a mom who's never home to an entire family of spirits and some actual human companions.
Gavin Stewart
Spirits and ghosts intertwine, so they may or may not have a past as humans.
Josiah Lewis
Dying Will Mode Mitama isn't afraid of some measly spirit line. He could've just shot them
Jace Collins
At the very least the main spirits with speaking roles will have a past. We've some of Mr. Commentary's past and Yuko seems to remember what she was like when she was alive.
Jackson Fisher
it's funny how edgy this fan art is compared to the actual series. It seems more like something you'd get out of Jujutsu Kaisen
Lucas Brooks
The first chapter did sort of promise horror imagery alongside all the comedy, instead of all the ghosts always being cutesy. It wasn't until probably Zobiro's chapter where that was entirely given up on.
Josiah Cruz
Her shonen skillset is fairly edgy on paper, but it's hard to take seriously when she used it to beat Mitama in a game of baseball.
Samuel Watson
true I guess, but I assume that art came later, long after they stopped showing the spirits as anything other than Rena's friends/family
Brandon Johnson
Nah, that picture has Zobiro in it. The truth is that the artist is a gigantic Jujutsufag.
Ian Russell
When Soya finally gets spirit sense I hope the first thing he sees are those scary looking fuckers that were lined up behind Rena in Chapter 1
Gavin Cooper
I don't know if they'll ever give up Soya not having spirit sense. Without it, his only gag is being an extremely good friend to Miitama. That's a rich vein, but not rich enough for a heavily recurring character.
Asher Diaz
It should be a joke for the very end of the series. Bonus points if it establishes that that's what they had always looked like all along and Rena's just hallucinating all those cute chibi forms
Blake Davis
sankyu
have you guys preordered your copy yet?
Nicholas Murphy
I own too many manga as it is, I honestly would like to but I'd just end up donating it to the local library to free up space while I continue to read it for free online.
Elijah Murphy
If my Volume 2 sales don't improve I'll be seeing you in your nightmares.
Eli Hernandez
I'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE
James James
If my library still takes donations, I'll buy it for you, user.
Jason Smith
I really appreciate it. Too bad nobody's going to read it because the covers aren't very flattering.
Landon Bailey
they're not that bad with context, just like Saiki's covers
Xavier Gray
Don't joke about that. I really wish the manga manages to stick around for a while, the author seems like a cool birdguy
Brody Morales
>Darn iiit
I appreciate the TL effort but I can't get over how watered down it is
Ian Johnson
honestly, I think all of the non-swearing fits the "wholesome" image the manga shoots for better than a fully accurate translation
David Lewis
It would be funnier if Mitama and the rest of the cast got fired up over all these trivial things in the TL
I don't think the wholesomeness would be affected very much because they'd still be wonderful people on the inside
Henry Carter
While not as funny as the previous two chapters, this was pretty wholesome so it’s all good in my book. And man I hope this series lives, probably the one new series I enjoy the most and I would hate to see it be killed off early.
Lincoln Lewis
GO TO PLANET RENA HAZEN NOW
Aiden Sanchez
>And man I hope this series lives,
didn't you hear user, we're certified not axebait anymore
Jaxson Sanchez
Can someone post tl of all the author comments ? Please
Isaac Russell
>shit sales but consistently solid rankings
I won't say no to another Hinomaru tier push.
Samuel Edwards
based Nakano has to teach Japanese kids good taste somehow. If Mitama becomes the next Dr. Stone, so be it
Christopher Scott
viz.com
Knock yourself out. I know I will because I haven't been keeping up with them.
Juan Evans
>I don’t know what this means, but I want to draw a manga that’s like Othello with rainbow colors
And now I'm terrified for Yuko's serious arc.
Brandon Johnson
I thought rankings didn’t matter as much, while the sales are what’s most important? Granted I don’t pay much attention to that stuff.
Camden Cox
Its impressive for as much as the ZIPMAN!! author likes Dorohedoro he put out that generic of a work.
Makes me feel bad for him.
Zachary Long
bad rankings don't matter if a series sells well, but good rankings can absolutely save a series that doesn't have good sales
Leo Nelson
Good rankings can override bad sales. A series staying near the middle or top of the ToC means that the editors have no intention of axing the series prematurely no matter how low or stagnant the sales are.
James Perry
>Mitama ranks good
>UU is apparently kinda popular and had its volume moved earlier
If Agravity lives too I'll be a happy man
Jack Davis
Not today. Rena's still tired from all that effort she put into attempting to act cute.
Wyatt Bailey
I bet that Tsurun comes from a race of Bird People.
William Kelly
Are you saying that she isn't naturally cute user?
If so we might have a problem.
Brayden Stewart
it's hard to call UU yet, but it seems like it's doing well. I really hope so because it's by far my favourite series from the new batch. I'm not a huge fan of Agravity, but it's at least better than Zipman and Witch Guardian
Matthew Moore
She's cute in a calm down to earth kind of way, not that overly loud kira kira shit that other series tend to have. But she totally can if she wants to be.
Xavier Myers
Good rankings imply that people buy the magazine to read the series, even if they don't buy the volumes. So it's still sort of sales.
Grayson Howard
His dedication to his winged overlords is hidden in plain sight.
Mason Taylor
Yuko is so cute. I wish I could save her from getting exorcised
Henry Walker
Pigeon-sensei's girls are both top tier. Too bad only two of them get any focus.
Ryan James
I hope either Yuko gets more of a core than liking Miitama or the romantic implications with Rena get dropped. If her entire character's based around being with somebody who's gonna end up with somebody else, that's kinda sad.
Also they point out that Miitama's an adult and Rena's not way too much for that not to be kinda creepy
Grayson Watson
I think as Mitama starts to get more accustomed to the spirits we might eventually get a proper romance arc between him and Yuko. Mitama and Rena are pretty cute together, but it would suck if the character whose "gimmick" is being in love with Mitama gets cucked
Colton Torres
Yuko's dead, user. The only way her love gets reciprocated is if she comes back to life or Mitama dies.
Parker Bennett
she'll always be alive in my heart
Carson Nguyen
I mean, one of those is technically inevitable.
Carter Jones
>the romantic implications with Rena get dropped
She' appreciates how dedicated he is to protecting her but that's all there is to it. For now.
Justin Adams
She made him Valentine's chocolate and he had a two chapter subplot about how she made his heart race (although that did end on a great joke.)
Juan Young
Yuko coming back to life?
Connor Cooper
I can sort of buy Mitama's heart going doki doki for Rena, but Rena's too invested in Yuko x Mitama for anything serious to happen.
Weren't those valentine's chocolates supposed to be a thank you for saving her during the baseball arc?
William Sanchez
Ta and Pi confirmed for S tier with the right equip items
Samuel Moore
Her excuse was she was just being neighborly, but she didn't make any for Soya.
Christian Hill
Imagine wanting making chocolate for a chuuni asshole rival who will call your food crap as soon as you walked through the door.
He should get some credit for helping with the baseball arc even if he was useless during the final inning.
Brody Reyes
everyone knows that the only endgame pair that matters is Kojime x Rena
Luis Bailey
Soya sadly saying he wanted to keep playing baseball as the arc turned serious is one of the best gags all year and it's just a tiny panel in the middle of a bigger scene.
Juan Thompson
I thought he said that at the very end of the arc.
Matthew Ward
You're right, I got the placement completely wrong. I loved that joke, and I fucked it up.
Gabriel Nguyen
>Kojime
>winning anything
Pick one
