And if that wasn't bad enough they made Esther fucking complacent in turning women completely brain dead during the experiments, but nope she wasn't guilty/ashamed of that, instead she's hung over Hirumi getting revived as a zombie despite it was Hirumi stealing her Taowu amulet and later having the power to possess her body after her death. JC Staff is pretty good, I don't understand what these retards are going on about. They simply have to make budgetary decision that may or may not be popular like any other studio. Machikado is incredibly well produced and people are enjoying it immensely for example, but they didn't allocate the same company resources into the usual swill that the masses is going to consume anyway like OPM S2. Even Madhouse does this, the production values of Overlord are simply embarrassing, but it's only the retards who care about it. Even Production I.G had a dancing/sports anime adaptation Welcome to the Ballroom that was filled with still images, but in the very same season if I'm no mistaken they had Mahoujin Guru Guru which had splendid dancing animation. Priorities, priorities, priorities. People hated Deen for so many years because of Fateshit but when you look at their portfolio, they are actually pretty based given the types of IPs an the budgets that they have to work with. Even based Gonzo has to do animation with fucking pennies and they still manage to be creative a passionate about the medium.

The fact that they're capable of making a good show doesn't excuse that they have a terrible track record in recent years. They've butchered tons of shows that deserve better and it's a known fact that they don't schedule for shit.

The fact is that human resources are limited in an industry that is pumping more schlock per season than entire years in the 90s. Studios have to make choices, they don't have the talent nor the resources to give it their all with every single project. If JC Staff has to sacrifice shows that are targetted to the lowest common denominator like OPM S2, Raildex, Accel, etc., then so be it. They are still producing high quality stuff like Machikado that is airing in this very season. And even their low budget stuff like Hi Score Girl isn't soulless, the project was almost cancelled because of legal shenanigans with Square Enix, and the show has a really low budget and unnecessary use of CGI, but it was well directed and you could feel the love behind the production despite the many compromises. Hating JC Staff because of shows like OPM S2 is Yea Forums-tier logic, user, studios can't keep up with the demand and the talent pool from which the industry draws is becoming smaller and smaller. Every single show has the potential to be a masterpiece, even absolute schlock like Index or Raildex or what have you, but that kind of idealism is incompatible with the realities of the industry.

OPM 2 was hotly anticipated and a continuation of one of the biggest hits in anime history. Not giving your all for something that beloved is an absolutely idiotic move and fans deserved better. Raildex is a different beast in terms of popularity but we shouldn't even be having a debate on what "deserves" to be adapted well. The simple reality is no other studio consistently butchers adaptations with the same degree of QUALITY as JC Staff does. They don't schedule or prioritize properly and end up shitting out a huge number of shows - more than any other studio of comparable size - at a staggeringly low standard for quality. The industry is far ahead of them in regards to management and consistency in production. That isn't to say the industry as a whole is problem-free - not by a long shot - but JC Staff has its own unique problems on top of the larger-scale issues.

Very few manga are elevated by an anime adaptation, Machikado is one of the rare examples of this and it's produced, lo and behold, by JC Staff. You're just mad at the studio because your favourite schlock wasn't given the treatment you wanted, and this ironically is the same reason why people hated Deen for the longest time, because they didn't adapt Fateshit to their satisfaction.

This is true but there's a difference between "not as good as S1" and "extremely terrible". Even without an allstar team animating it it could have been as well done as your average battle show. But it wasn't. In truth we don't know if more fault lies directly with JC Staff or with publishers approaching them but the end result is JC takes on a ton of work and releases mediocre products.
