Not being spoiled by Zero is part of what makes Fate/Stay Night, especially Shirou's character and everything that happens on Heaven's Feel, so good.

Not same guy but here's a few personal gripes I had. The protagonist isn't relevant for 4/5ths of the story until his massively please feel bad for me sobstory gets revealed. Kirei and Waver are the only characters with meaningful development. Kayneth was a joke. Tokiomi was a joke. Ryuunosuke is retarded. Diarmuid was cool but also pretty retarded. Gilles shenanigans got old really fast. Kariya exists just to supply even more unnecessary angst to an already depressing story. Saber is incompetent and exists only for bullying and crying. Maiya who? Gilgamesh and Kirei are okay but Kirei's journey to madlad was pretty much just Gil fucking with him and the two of them not really questioning the others motives beyond lipservice. Gil just immediately believing Kirei with the Command Spell shit. Just 'okay, makes sense. i believe you bro. Lets go kill my Master'. Urobuchi went overboard with muh dark and gritty I was generally apathetic to everything that happened. Alex and Waver are the only bit of levity but they weren't enough to do away with the overall feelings of apathy I had for fates of the entire cast. Yes, it's a tragedy but if there's no real sense of hope through the entire story it greatly diminishes the impact the story should have had. Kerry saving Shirou and his death at the end were great though. Overall I do like Zero but for the life of me I can't get why it's circle-jerked to hell and back on here like it's a flawless Masterpiece.

I think that Star Wars would be way more permissible. The things that could be spoiled self aren't that impactful and most of it is probably already known. It's not a bad comparison though.
